      I definitely believe it’s a great thing to have especially if you live in an environment with snow. It also helps when you want to go off-road to hiking trails and things. Plus it looks good.

  • @plessini

    Thanks for the video. I always wanted to do the same but not for the snow. The front end always seems to scrape driveway curbs and other nonsense (In NJ, right outside NYC. A lot of concrete and potholes!). I also have a 2008 but with only 110K so I don't mind putting the time and money since it will last.

    • @hughbertsprojects
      @hughbertsprojects  Год назад +1

      It was a great investment for sure. I didn’t notice any loss in mpg or handling issues. My buddy currently is driving it since he needed a vehicle. I’m driving my lifted Prius. Both always scraped driveways before. Not anymore.

    I have a 2009 sedan model. Had to do the front shocks and rods few months ago. Not only that, had to do the rear hub assembly and front wheel speed sensor because the abs and brake light came on. Guess these cars are prone to having abs wheel speed sensor issues. I live in Illinois but was born in Michigan. You understand how bad these winters are, it’s terrible. Can’t believe you have that many miles on ur Yaris. I got the car 5 years ago and it had 65 thousand miles on it. I’m at 99,236 miles right now. Been a great car but I’ve put a ton of money into it the last 2 years.
    Driver side abs wheel speed sensor wire
    Rear driver side wheel bearing/abs sensor connects to the hub bearing.)
    Alternator
    Battery
    Roof drip mouldings both sides
    Front shocks and struts
    Tie rods front too)
    Front rotors and pads
    Battery terminals were rusted put new ones on
    Oil changes every 3k miles
    Air filters every 10k miles
    Ac recharge
    Pcv valve
    Rear drums and shoes put on last year
    New headlights originals were hazed over
    Muffler is rusting off as of right now and barely hanging on
    New starter last year
    Coolant flush and fill 2 years ago
    Brake fluid replaced last year
    Yeah all this in 5 years I’ve done all the work myself, ironically I work at a Honda dealership though

      Transmission shifts amazingly and the engine doesn’t burn a drop of oil. Scotty Kilmer made a few videos on this gen Yaris. These cars are amazing but living in the rust belt sucks. Things rust and corrode away. I hope to get 5 more years out of this car the frame is solid underneath just a small bit of surface rust here and there

      @@hughbertsprojects correct I agree to be honest. The only weird thing I’m experiencing right now, is that the car shakes like crazy sometimes when I’m at idle. Like when the ac is on, and I’m at a red light or stop sign. The only thing that helps is turning the ac off or putting the car in neutral. My dealership thought it was the engine mount but I replaced that and it didn’t help. I’ve read tons of Yaris forums online about people experiencing the same exact issue and they couldn’t figure it out either.

    • @jonathanmacdonald9276
      @jonathanmacdonald9276 Год назад +1

      @@hughbertsprojects something else mentioned was that the engine shakes if you lift the hood up and look, mine does pretty bad . Common issue on this car yet no idea how to fix it. Engine is strong and burns no oil at all. The air filter box will shake, engine, and everything all around shakes. I’m sure yours does too if you take a 10 minute trip, park somewhere with the car on pop the hood and look. I guess no car is perfect but I’ve learned to just live with things like this. Great video tho man! Keep us updated make another video on the car id love to see how it’s treating you.

    • @hughbertsprojects
      @hughbertsprojects  Год назад

      @jonathanmacdonald9276 it could be the transmission mount. I normally replace all my motor and transmission mounts at the same time. It’s extra money but if I’m already working on it i just do the extras.

    • @hughbertsprojects
      @hughbertsprojects  6 месяцев назад

      It could be a few different things. If it’s under acceleration that you hear it look for loose bolts, a worn sway bar link, or a motor mount. A cv should be more of a clicking sound.

    • @hughbertsprojects
      @hughbertsprojects  Год назад +1

      That size tire should fit. The only issue is the bottom of the strut spring perch. The Prius cleared with the stock offset wheels. Only had a little rub at full lock. I know the yaris has a larger open in the wheel well. I unfortunately haven’t upgraded tires yet since the ones on it are still good.

    • @hughbertsprojects
      @hughbertsprojects  Год назад +1

      You should be able to measure the distance between the top of the tire and the spring perch. The tire size you want to run is 3.4” taller than stock. As long as you have about 1.25 of clearance now with stock tires you should be good.
