Purchased the new model Dometic CFF 45 model a couple of weeks ago it is side opening on both sides without reversing the lid, both sides open... I have not turned it off, with a 3 year warranty... I'll be testing that out... I've been on one camping trip in 35 degree heat, works a treat with no problems , very quiet and I'm very impressed so far, we'll see how she goes as my fridge will be running all of the time not just on camping trips.
Once again to all the "you don't need a fridge" guys, they are invaluable. Buying ice again and again on a long trip sucks ass! Especially when you're in a pinch and some guy charges $10 for a 5 lbs bag because you're in BFE. Dealing with wet food from melted ice sucks ass! Such a pain. "Yeah but the weight and size!" I was using a big ass boat cooler for my long overland trips. That thing was twice as big as the fridge and with the Antarctic scale ice needs, the weight was just as significant. Cheap out if you want. Keep buying ice, keep dealing with wet coolers your choice. As far as price, put a little work in, do some looking. I picked up a brand new Dometic 65 on Ebay for $300. Some ice coolers cost that.
We do our best to have the best price on everything but we'd be naïve to say that we check every price across the country. For the most part, we have prices covered, but in the instance that we missed something we will price match. ~ Ben
Nice to be able to have the lid open from either side but very poor design that provides that function. It should have hinge pins permanently mounted so you don't have to change anything, you just swap the lid over.
Have you seen the new CFF 45, Dave? It's a simplified version of the CFX range and has a reversible lid that does not require any modifications. Check out our video here - ruclips.net/video/MSefz3XrIQM/видео.html ~ Ben
I just purchased dometic 50 just wondering what AGM 12v battery will work the best? I’m planing on using the fridge on a Nothstar 27F AGM battery with reserve capacity of 195 and capacity 20Hr (AH) 92. With this battery work on the Dometic 50? The other option would be to go with a group 31 AGM Northstar battery
Batteries aren't our speciality sorry, David. From my understanding you can use any 12V battery to run the fridge, as to which one give the best performance, this is probably a question for an auto electrician, 12V battery retailer or specialist 12V dealer. ~ Ben
Hi I have the new model of the CFX 35 I told my friend that I ran it with a new 100ah lithium battery for around 4 to 5 days with no Additional power and he doesn’t believe me you guys know the specs better than me can you prove this to him he thinks it will only last one day??
Sounds about right to me, David. The calculations are never an exact science as there are always variables in set up and temperature. He could be thinking of a Lead Acid battery which you never want to run completely flat. But from my understanding, you can run lithium ion batteries down to the wire without any damage, which means you've essentially got the full 100Ah to use for your fridge. So working things out very roughly, the CFX35 averages 0.77Ah per hour over 24 hours. 0.77Ah x 24 = 18.48Ah per day. 18.48Ah x 5 days = 92.4 Ah. By day five your battery is more than likely to be completely flat.
These fridges operate the same way no matter which power source you use, ekoms108. The tests do relate to 12V though, you don't really need to be concerned about power consumption when it comes to 240V. ~ Ben
It actually uses 0.92 Amps NOT 0.77 Amps. @ 25*c not 0.77amps @ 32*c and the higher the temp the more it will use. And most of it's features they have copied from ARB because Dometic/Waeco make the fridges for ARB but that does not give them the right to steal ARB's Designs.
Hi Humberto, as these fridges went from being 'Waeco' to 'Dometic' there was a period in between where both brand names featured on the fridges. The most recent models have made the move away from Waeco completely with the only branding being Dometic.
They certainly aren't for everyone Tom, and they by no means come with a lightweight price tag. They are a reliable, functional and popular fridge though. ~ Ben
