I heard about a guy in middle Tennessee who wanted to buy a new Toyota Corolla but ALL his local Toyota dealers were gouging consumers, putting $4-5k market adjustments on new Corollas. He found a dealer in COLORADO who was selling at or below MSRP, so the guy flew to Colorado, bought his new Corolla, and drove it back to Tennessee.

When you have a business in a county that has 45k population of you're a crook you fail. An example is the Midas shop changed hands after the owner retired. • @eeroala5132

True, not a single dealership provides a certificate that certifies the purity of their nitrogen. Without that they can just stick in normal air and they’re still covered legally. I suspect that’s what they’re doing. In my business, we need highly purified, nitrogen, gas, and we require certifications in testing of all of our purified nitrogen. Gas. It’s used for scientific purposes and we would never stick it in a tire. Nitrogen sold at car dealerships is a total scam.

One thing I have run across is finding a (new) vehicle for sale at one of the major online websites at a good price, but then I go to the dealer's website and cannot find the same vehicle. So they likely sold it but deliberately left the posting elsewhere to generate business. Double-checking like this helps avoid the bait and switch tactic.

My favorite blend for my tires is a mixture of 21% oxygen and 75% nitrogen. I find that this mixture gives me the best ride for the money. Some people are afraid of dihydrogen monoxide bit I drink up to a gallon a day. The nitrogen and tires scam is just another thing potential buyers will need to try and negotiate before they start talking about the actual MSRP. It's all about starting the customer higher up the river so they think they are winning by winning insignificant battles over fees put in place to create something to barter over. Walk in to any dealership and look at the MSRP. Tell the sales person and the sales manager that is the price where negotiations start. If they don't like it then leave immediately. Yes I used to be a car salesman... 🙂

I've seen people chewing other people out, biting their heads off, right near the sales floor where customers can see and hear. It's embarrassing to say the least. If anybody sees something like this, your best bet is to walk out if you can. I've done business with their other store, and it's the same, honest, up front, and easy to deal with. And as far as the dealer that ask you to leave. This forces the dealership to finish the negotiation process within that time if they want to go home. Brandon, to put nitrogen in a tire correctly, you supposed to let the air out of the tire & refill the tire with nitrogen & repeat the process 3 more times, that's supposed to remove 99.9% of the regular air in a tire. I really doubt the dealerships are doing this bc it takes some time to do 4 tires, hopefully they are honest & actually have a nitrogen compressor in the service area & let the air out & refill with nitrogen x4. I worked at the Michelin Test track mounting & changing different sets of tires on pit stops by the test cars & trucks, the test drivers tested our brand along with competitors brands of tire to compare, our tires were either different compounds, tread patterns till the test driver picked the best out of experimental tire sets. We used regular air in the test tires, checked pressure before & after a run. Far as Nitrogen goes, they had a Nitrogen compressor set up in employee park for us to use, the panel instructions stated to fill & let the nitrogen out 4 times.

Reputation is everything. If a dealer does not give a crap about its reputation they will not be around for long. Word of mouth "both good and bad" travels quick. Another thing for me that is a turn off is no prices on the vehicles. If there are no prices I just drive away. I always think that if the vehicles price was fair that it would be posted. No price to me means that they want too damn much for it. And heck YES , leave the bloopers in! 👍. The truth is that the dealers that ask you to leave is doing so because they do not want to be called out on their perhaps 'Deceptive" practices. That is how I see it , if they have nothing to hide and are doing business properly then they do not have a problem with you or anybody else being there filming. The shady ones are the ones that will not want you there........ Thanks Brandon and thumbs UP!!

My mother got into the cycle of buying a new car every two years with cash. She used the same dealer and the same sales person at a Dodge / Ram / Jeep dealer. This last time around, she decided to lease a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the lease ended right in the middle of the Covid car craze with high prices. She had the option to buy it out for $23k cash or turn it back in. The salesman already had counted on her turning the Jeep in without ever talking to her and even had pratically sold it already. Most of her vehicles were traded in around the 2-year mark as mentioned earlier and they loved how well taken care of each vehicle was and the low miles as she barely drives anymore with the last one being a 2017 Pacifica that was loaded with only about 2k miles and the one before that was a 2014 Caravan loaded with only about 11k miles, the salesman knew she was coming in and would have them presold before she would trade them in. Well, this salesman got mouthy and tried talking her into a new overpriced Jeep because the 2018 Jeep only had 3-4k miles on it at the time and was flawless and said he already had her current Jeep ready to be sold. This actually upset my mother with how pushy he got and made it sound like she didn't have a choice.
I talked her into paying off the lease as it was worth into the high $40k range at the time and she got a good deal on it back in late 2018. I told her she could keep it and drive it a couple more years and sell it to break even or sell it now and make a nice chunk of change. The Jeep now has about 9k miles on it and 2k of those miles are from me and my wife driving my mother around or taking the Jeep for a weekend becuase it my mother lets it sit for 3-4 months without use. I take it out, wash it, vacuum it, and let it run on the interstate for an hour or two a few times a year.
We would like a new car with a full waranty as plans have been made to travel a lot these next few summers and in all honesty, I am thinking about finding something from a private seller with about 10-15k miles and hopefully the factory waranty will transfer over. New car dealers are a big turnoff after wathcing my mother deal with that last salesman.

I purchased a 2023 Subaru Outback Touring XT from a family owned business. I received an amazing price for my trade in and purchased the Subaru just below MSRP. Two months later I went back to pick up an accessory from the parts department. I found that the dealership had been purchased by a large auto group. Looking at the window stickers on the new Subarus I noticed several add on such as paint protection, nitrogen air, wheel looks, etc. that added $599.00 to the price. I told the salesman that I bought my car from that I wouldn’t be returning for my next car purchase. It seems that the family owned dealerships are vanishing.

I had purchased multiple cars from one dealer over a 20 year period. At least 10 new a few used. They knew me and I took my daughter in to purchase a new vehicle. This was late last year and wasn't expecting a deal. Just go in find what she wants and finance the MSRP. Told salesman you can add anything you want but this is the price we want at the interest rate stated. My daughter was getting her first finance on a car. Salesman understood so I let here do all the paperwork and went to price a truck that caught my eye. All said and done the salesman swindled her out of 5,500 in add ons. I talked to the GM about this and he said she's an adult, she made that decision. We left and I was angry but didn't cause a seen got home and told her she over paid. Salesman told her I was an idiot for not getting the add ons and didn't know how to buy a car. She learned to hard way when the windshield cracked really bad and the protection she purchased was worthless, ended up costing more than a mobile repair. Last month I purchased another car and it wasn't there. The GM from previous dealership called and asked why not from me. This kind of freaked me out but asked if that salesman was still employed there. He was ,I told him he and you are the reason I will never buy from again. Yes my daughter is a grown up kinda but still very Young ,you took advantage of her when you knew I only bought from you. Keep doing what you do, you have my interest.

I worked in the business years ago. I worked in both kinds of dealers and it is so nice not having to deal with add ons, bump stickers, doc fees, etc. It's a mark up period, however it's disguised. There are good ones out there and the easy way to find them is just look for the ones that haven't changed names 10 times in 15 years

If a dealer is adding paint protection, I’m just going to ask them if the paint on the car is so bad that it requires a third party paint protection product? Why would I want to buy a car with bad paint? Does their manufacturer know that they are telling their customers that their paint is bad? I’m sure that “manufacturer” would love to hear that they are telling folks that the paint sux.
As for nitrogen, I’m just going to ask if the car is going to 30 thousand feet? That’s the only reason for nitrogen. It’s for aircraft tires that go from 50 below zero at altitude to ground level temps of 150 degrees plus after a landing. It’s ludicrous for automotive uses.

i dont know how, but i got suggested one of your very first videos back when you started and ive been watching ever since. i especially like your auction videos. i think it is really good of you to take the high road. your channel isn't meant to be about dealer drama, dont need to name names. you are literally helping thousands of people to get a fair deal when they buy a new car, and helping thousands of others to make good decisions on used car purchases too.
your success on youtube has come fast, and i think its because everyone who watches your videos can see that you know your stuff, and you are funny, and you respect our time and keep your videos on point. you were born for this job, and its obvious.
thanks for the knowledge, and for putting in the work. i really like the bloopers too, and really i just get annoyed when youtubers do 100 jump cuts to put a sentence together... if you keep the bloopers in or don't it doesn't matter to me, i just like that you put effort into speaking a complete sentence hahahaha

I've been a car tikerer/trader for 60 years. There is a local ford dealer that I have bought 4 cars from in the past 10 years. I was going to buy a new maverick, but missed the order portal. Then I got a call that someone backed out when their ordered vehicle arrived. Did I want it? Yes I did. Went in to the dealership and they got around to mentioning the $10K market adjustment. Guess which dealership will never, ever be on my list of places to buy a ride. Loyalty meant nothing to the dealership, now it's less than nothing to me.

Nitrogen is used in aircraft and race cars because the pressures are more stable at different temperature. The average car driver does not push their tires to extremes. We all run down the same roads and stop at the same lights.

I miss the local, single franchise dealerships. The “Mega” dealers (in my opinion) don’t really care if you buy a car that has been sitting on the lot awhile. Since the corporate owners have stores all over the country (or at least a good portion of it), if a car doesn’t sell, they’ll just transport it to another store where that make and model is more in demand. Even if the salesman wants to make a sale, he can only be as strong as his management will allow him to be. When I was growing up back in the 1980s and 1990s, my family often did business with a local Buick dealer. Although we never bought Buicks (I am now in my 50s and have never owned a Buick), they were very good to work with on used cars. We bought cars regularly back then and they took us seriously when we were there; they understood though experience how to deal with us and didn’t play pricing games. Unfortunately, the dealership has closed now (the owner/manager retired pre Covid and sold his franchise) but they were definitely a stand out when it came to buying a car from a dealership. Like so many other businesses, the car dealerships (even the new car stores) has become very transient. Sales people come and go in a matter of months and even the dealership primaries are not it business for the long haul. They don’t seem interested in building customer relationships, I think, because they know that in 3-5 years, they will have sold the business and moved on; so, the business model has become “hit ‘em as hard as you can, as fast as you can … then move on to the next sucker” and by the time they are ready to trade again next time, we don’t intend to be around anyway!

We were quoted a $199 Nitrogen fee last week... along with all the other stupid dealer shenanigans he tried to pull. He tried to get us into their building so they could "put things on paper" for us. I asked him to email it instead because I knew what inside the building meant (ganged up on!), but nothing doing. We promptly left! Unbelievable that people are still falling prey to the age-old, worn-out, dealer BS and dishonesty that's been going on since the 70's when I bought my very first car.
