- After the wildfire's here in Cali, I knew I had to find a way to keep my Tesla Model 3 as clean looking as possible AND make the car washing process easier so it was perfect timing when Hydrosilex reached out to me and offered to send me a couple of their products for free.
This video is not sponsored by them; however, I do recommend their products (Hydrosilex Rewind & Recharge) because this DIY ceramic coating process was SUPER easy and it only took around 2 hours for the entire project (with car wash in advance). If you're looking to spend a couple hours during the weekend to ceramic coat your car or you just want a fun project to do, check out their products on their website -- www.hydrosilex... (use code “JAY” for FREE wipes to try out!”
Thanks for watching and as always if you enjoyed the video please don't forget to smash the like button and subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so yet :) I really appreciate it!

Before applying any ceramic product you must strip any old waxes and sealants so the ceramic to make a bond to the virgin clearcoat. Using a wash and wax the wash will leave a wax over the vehicle that needs to be removed. Proper steps would be washing with a pure shampoo wash , decontaminating the vehicle with a iron remover or Claybar , use a ipa wipe down then apply ceramic.
Looks great! Few hours of manual labor and you have a shine to be proud of.
Couldn't have said it any better haha! Always feel proud when you finish a project by yourself :D
Hydrosilex is an amazing product. I purchased the soap, rewind, and recharge. What a difference this product does to your car. Highly recommend it!!
Haven't tried the soap yet but perhaps after I finish my current one!
Thanks for the support Kevin!
It doesn't go un-noticed
Love your channel bro! I’m planning on getting one in the future and all your videos helped me solidify my decision. Best of luck! 👍🏼😁
Hey Elliott thanks so much for your support! Can't wait til you get one!
Great video Jay. I'm picking up my Tesla M3LR tomorrow. Still don't know if I should get a ceramic coating, but the video was great. Very informative.
Congrats Yervand I'm so excited for you! I think it's not necessary but it does make car washing a lot easier and makes the car shine a bit more
Great video! 🔥🔥
Thanks so much Jihwan!!
Thanks for the video! Regarding the actual product, I’ve read that true ceramic coating should come in a glass bottle. Plastic bottles/bags can’t handle the solvents that are in the ceramic coating. Also using a higher quality product should last at least a year and up to five without needing to reapply. Regardless, good vid!
Dang the coating looks fantastic, and what an awesome looking garage with 2 Teslas inside 😂😂 I definitely would want to see a follow-up some time in the future to see how it holds up after an extended time of use and wear/tear though! Thanks for sharing Jay 🔥
Thanks Ryan! I will definitely make a follow up video in the future to talk about that 👍🏻
how much better is this than paying 300-600 euros at the carshop for this? I see they got diff types of coating, some that are meant to last for years. I wouldnt mind doing it myself if i can save a lot of money
Not one, but two Teslas? Sheesh! 🔥🔥
LOL the other one isn't mine I promise! 😂
sickkk - I did a 2 year ceramic coating and I wish I did a longer coating. time flies lol
I don't think this DIY spray on ceramic coating will last that long but I shall update you guys in 6 months haha. Are you planning on doing it again?
Our product should last you 3-4 months depending how often you wash your car and the climate in your region also.
Not bad! Thanks again for sending the products over :)
Lmao, honestly so cool watching another local RUclipsr tbh. Recognized that Goodwill and OReilly in the previews easily
Haha yeah man I agree! Did you feel the earthquakes recently?
Jay Wu yeah bro! Felt all 3 this morning
Got the same water less wax and the ceramic hydrophobic spray as well
Yeah they're not bad products! I wonder how long it will last before the effects fade though. I'm guessing 6 months or so
Jay Wu we have 2 weeks of rain on the way tonight, so I will see how the hydrophobic ceramic spray holds up 😆
@@noelyboy6969 Wish I could say the same here lol we haven't had rain in so long! But let me know how it goes :)
Great video as always, Jay! I can't wait to see the next one. By the way, I'm picking up my car today from OCDetailing. 🙂
Thanks so much bro! Send me a pic of how it looks!!
Something is missing here. Where is water pouring result?
Didn't want to wash the car again after I just did lol. Feel free to follow me on IG, I'll be washing my car within the next couple of days and I'll see if it actually makes a big difference
Nice, I'm planning to get a model 3 standard range plus but I'm waiting for the supposedly newer model 3s that are coming with chrome delete included and wireless charging included. Got close to about 10k saved, hoping that the newer model 3s arrive before the holidays.
Good idea! I'm sure they will be offered in the US soon since they are already offering it in China. And that seems like a hefty downpayment -- good stuff!!
@@JayWuOfficial thanks man! the performance model 3 is so tempting! but once I look at the price I'm like nope.... lol
@@1120lpp Lol exactly! Fantastic vehicle but the price ahhh. At least you'll have some time to think about it :)
Model 3 SR+ comes with wireless cell phone chargers.
Awesome! How did you get your door handles black? wrap/plastidip?
I wrapped it :)
Great Video Jay! If you end up using the Hydrosilex again I would definitely recommend buying the liquid bottles. This way you can apply evenly over all the body panels, glass, and trim. Also, after washing your car, if you add in a clay bar step you can enhance the end results. (Wash -> clay bar -> degrease -> ceramic coat)
Thanks for the tip! I've heard that clay bars definitely enhance the results a lot so I'll def try it next time!
Can’t go through a regular car wash? 🤠
Don't want to run the risk haha!
When I get my Model Y, I'm going to do t he PPF wrap.
Good choice! It'll def protect the paint better from dings/scratches/etc. Are you going to ceramic coat it too?
@@JayWuOfficialYou ceramic coat the wrap also? I thought people just apply the PPF plastic to the car and that's it.
@@BlackBirdieGolf Some people do both (as long as the PPF is ceramic-friendly). You should look into it -- it'll make your car shine even more haha
@@JayWuOfficialI'm more about protecting it since my commute is 114 miles round trip
@@BlackBirdieGolf Understandable -- that's a pretty long commute lol
HydroSilex isnt an actual ceramic coating.
"Hydrosilex reached out to me and offered to send me a couple of their products for free"
next line...
"This video is not sponsored by them" … but I have a code
makes absolutely no sense, did they expect you to take the product and put it in the cupboard and not do a video.
I thought you're not supposed to put your bare hand on the coating when applying?
Did I put my hands on the coating? If I did then I didn't mean to haha! I didn't notice any flaws tho, maybe I just got lucky
Hey Jay hi last week got my front part of the car ceramic PP anyway I'm not real happy because he did a pre kit ordered and put it on the car and I could see the lines at a few of the edges. He tells me he'll redo it, but I wanted to ask you I found bubbles behind the front license plate and he was telling me he couldn't remove the license plate so I'm asking how are you able to remove that license plate thanks for your tips love em
Hi Belinda! Sorry to hear that your car wasn't wrapped properly but good thing they are willing to re-do it. In terms of the front license plate, I never installed mine but I assume you just unscrew it from your car if it's screwed in. Otherwise if you have a bracket you need to take that off first. Lmk how it goes!
Has that made your window a little too reflective? Better to just do on body panels?
Not really to be honest -- nothing beats how bad chrome reflects lol! I say just go ahead and do it
Wait....did you say "registration $600"? What state is that,,?
Yup $606 lol. California is pretty expensive
We live in California but i am only paying about $200.
@@jay-rhenaicaro8968 Wow how?? Do you live away from the big cities?
How long does it last??
A couple of months then you gotta re-apply it
