I bet you fall over laughing when you hear the German for "father." It's "Vater." Which doesn't look very funny when it's written down. Unless you know that German's pronounce "v" as "f." And the "a" is long, as in "ah."
Even funnier is the form used as an endearment. The German equivalent of "daddy." It's "Vati." I suddenly had a flashback to several Ben Elton routines...

A few years back I talked to someone from Ritter Sport at a trademark seminar and asked which was the most expensive to make chocolate they have (they all sell for the same price, so being a cheap bastard I had to know). He said it was the Rum Trauben Nuss, mostly due to the rum they use. So if you want to optimize your Ritter price/value experience go with that. Just thought you'd want to know. (It's pretty damn tasty as well.)
PS: Don't pre-break the chocolate before cracking open the package. It's designed to break at the first row. Then you shouldn't have that Marzipan mess you found. :-)

Gonna need some actual facts there Thomas, as your claim is quite big. Citronella is one of the most widely used insect repellent in the world. I suspect that perhaps mosquitos in your personal area are particularly resistant to citronella, and you have committed a fallacy from localization bias
As for OP's comment, its likely because if they claim their product is technically useless, they don't need to be held to any standards, but people who buy without thinking will still buy their stuff

We spent 3 winters in our Class A Motor Home, I loved every second of it; wish I could get back on the road, but family problems have kept me in my sticks and bricks home in South Dakota. Just to punish me for staying away for 3 glorious years in the Desert Southwest, mother Nature slammed me with a horrid winter that still hangs on even now at the end of May! DAMN you mother nature! That bug deal looks like a great device for traveling up in this part of the wold where bugs are thick as honey. Strangely down in Arizona there were not very many insects.

@bigclivedotcom : "It might work in a camper" "A lot of people in America live in trailers". There may be a misconception Clive, some words are used differently between our countries. Most people in the USA do not live in campers or trailers, which are different. A camper here is the same as a caravan there. There are primarily used for camping, although a small number live in them. They are not designed for full time use and are pulled behind a truck. A motorhome have its own propulsion and there are models for camping all the way up to luxury multimillion dollar expansion units with multiple floors. A Trailer home here is referring to a home that is factory built as a full time home, but has wheel for delivery and rare movement. They are often made as "double-wide" which are 2 units attached to each other and never moved. They are made in a factory for lower cost and once assembled are not separated and have looks of a stick built home.

I used to get eaten alive by any bugs in proximity when I was younger, but ever since I got extremely ill in my early 20s and was put on all sorts of medications, they absolutely won't bite me at all any more. Insects are fascinating in that they apparently can sense remotely just by chemicals you exude how 'tasty' you are, or aren't.

It seems bizarre to use LEDs as heaters since they're more expensive than a PTC. Unless there's a specific reason for wanting light. Like attracting the insects. Which means they come a lot closer than they might to an ordinary vaporiser. Which means you don't need to put as much vapour out, so you can run at lower power and your consumable tablets last longer.
So it's a very clever design, if that's really how it works. Or a very stupid design, because it's not good at killing the insects and the light will keep you awake at night. One or the other.

    • @_Piers_
      @_Piers_ 5 лет назад

Most of the insect that people are bothered by are not really attracted to lights. I really hate moths though, so it might be good for me :D

    • @mikecowen6507

Maybe the light attracts the bugs, and the chemical repels them? Net result, the bugs concentrate where you're stiitng.

I've been using a couple of the "LED Mosquito Killer Lamp, Electronic Insect Killer, Bug Zapper Mini Light Lamp" for some time now and find that they work well at attracting and killing small insects that love ultraviolet light (the LEDs in these), and without the nasty chemicals or excessive power usage. They just use a few LEDs and an electrified "screen", and plug directly into AC (120 here).
My simple watt-O-meter only registers above about 0.5 watts and these little bug zappers don't register, so I don't know what they're consuming (not having bothered to diagnose deeper), but I'd assume not much.
Clive, if you would be interested in checking some of these type devices out it would be nice to see your results.

smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074276LX4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (no longer available but very similar others are).
I just took one apart, but being a novice I can't do the complete Clive thing, though I can say it contains four LEDs, two 400V caps (both brown, one larger than the other), a rather large gray 51K ohm 5% resistor, and two diodes.
And yes, when removed from mains there's still voltage on the metal "screen", which, when finger touched gives a fun little shock. After having learned this the hard way, I now use an old tooth brush to clean the screens. I've also shorted the screen very briefly w/a metal object and got a nice spark, but no apparent damage to the unit.
