Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Not sure how old you are, however with age comes maturity. If you're buying this car to drive fast on the street then it will either end up wrecked or you'll destroy your license & insurance. If you want to drive this car fast, then go to a track & sign a waiver, not on the street.

@@poker_18rs92 Eh, if you drive fast, you drive fast. As others said, radar detector is pretty much the only way. It's not even reckless driving. Don't think of it like you go 100mph in a 30 zone or something. But like you just come on to the highway, send it, there is no one around, and you are doing 130-150 easily. It's just how it is with a strong car. I overtake someone in mine (not a Type-R), and I'm already waaaay above legal limits. Did I endanger anyone? In fact I only managed to finish my overtaking faster. But... it's still heavily illegal.

Vapezerker Reviews Wish it was that price at every dealer you go to. They markup their sale price to get more money than the msrp sticker price. A company can’t legally force a dealer to sell the car at that price. All a dealer is they are buying and then reselling a car to make profit. At this point type r s should be closer to their msrp because the hype has dropped down a bit. When hype surrounds a new car (even a used car in some cases) dealers take notice and try take advantage of it and raise the price to get a larger profit margin.

I've had my Type R 4 days and I love it. I've never had such a versatile car. Its power, speed and drivability are well established. But it's also an excellent family car. Loads of leg room and height. Easily accommodateing my 6'2 son's, lots of comfort from all its seats and I've just been to the supermarket and carried the weekly shop including 30kg of dog food with room to spare.

I just don't understand why a Manual FWD "hot-hatch" like the Type R doesn't give you a *manual hand-break lever* rather than the no-fun electronic one.
I'm surprised people still don't understand til these days. If you're making every civic with electronic hand brake and then design one just for the typeR? That doesn't make financial sense. Why put money into design a new compartment when there's one existed for millions of civics. Another reason is weight. The electronic is lightweight compared to the manual hand brake, because Honda takes its time to slash a little bit of weight in every corner of the car. Weight is very important in a performance car and Honda goes all out to achieve this level of performance. Another reason, you need too get over that 'old school' thing and accept that electronic is better than those ancient hand brakes. All luxury and high performance cars come with electronic these days.

Bought a gorgeous ‘19 Type R for my wife a few months ago, we LOVE it! There have been more than one full blown fight over who gets to drive😉. We have done road trips and she commutes with it to work daily. Other than the ridiculous wheels and tires, there is little to fault about this car. Thus far we have both embarrassingly rashed wheels, the first time I have ever done it in any car... My car is a ‘13 manual FRS (bought new; stock engine, modified suspension, brakes and exhaust) and my oldest son drives a MK7 GTI with a DSG. The Type R is clearly the fastest car in our household, by far. Prior to the Type R my wife had a 2018 Si which has to get honorable mention, for the money, that car was BRILLIANT! Unfortunately, someone smacked her head on at a stoplight, totaling the Si.....

Evan R we love our cars! I have two more boys approaching driving age....my 15 year old wants a Dodge Challenger (slightly disturbing, but at least it’s interesting and he really made up his mind) and my 11 year old (who can already drive a manual😉) wants a Z Car. Where we will park all this stuff and we will insure everything is going to be a real trick😂

J J maybe that was a bit of a stretch. When I first came out I saw a lot of people saying that it drove fantastically, and the power was there, just that people wanted to have a fun rwd platform

This video is like a sign. I've been looking at the R for the past 2 months after financing my Q40 (g37). Once I pay off the loans this one is on my list. The smallest tire size you can get for these is 18 to clear the brakes.
I've had my Type R for 2 years now. Once it shredded the OEM tires I fitted 255/35 R20 Kumo. No more spinning when launching anymore. I get a little chubby when I drive it now. What an awesome car...
That drone you hear on the highway is the Continentals. I put Michelin PS4S on mine and that road noise is gone.

I own a Type R and went down to 18 inch wheels and there is some torque steer but... I actually love it. Very addictive car to drive.

I was curious about that factor, because I think the torque steer issue is only relative to the Type R itself. For example: I'm willing to bet the torque steer you're experiencing now is not nearly as severe as a Mazdaspeed 3.

there's actually 2 levels of traction control "off". If you hold it down for 2 seconds in R mode you get it "fully" off.
All of your observations are right on. I love my Type R. Best car I've ever owned by a wide margin (including an Audi S4 Wagon and a WRX STi.) The driving experience is sublime, and even after a year with the car, I really, really look forward to driving it every day. I switched to 18 inch wheels, it was the right call (even if I did pick up a little more torque steer). Nice job on the video.
I have a focus RS and if I didn’t have that I’d get a type R. I didn’t like the way they look at first but damn it’s grown on me what a piece of engineering
Fun fact, the volume rocker on the steering wheel is also touch sensitive, so you can scroll your finger over the rockers and it turns up and down.

I was involved in a serious car accident last week where a car made a illegal turn pulling in front of me and I t-boned them. Tomorrow I’m headed to the dealership to test drive this and I’m looking so forward to it. I loved my accord but I might have to switch to the type R. Love the review man it’s so informative and I felt like I was driving it.

if they would make a type R touring(no wing, slightly less extreme body kit, less red), it would likely be near the top of my list, without ever actually driving one. Very appealing package.
Even though I am 6ft9 and cannot fit in a CIVIC (trust me I tried), I still want one. These things are just too cool to pass up on and the fact that it still offers a slush box makes me ever so more tempted

@@jakeq3530 Ironically I ended up buying a 20 Civic Hatch shortly after writing that comment in 2020. She's got 24k on the clock now and I am very happy. Standard sport trim nothing fancy like a Si or Type R. I also like Miatas but it's very hard for me to operate the clutch I can hardly move my legs in that tiny car

My Type R is the same color! I’ve had it for 3 months now, driven 10,000 miles in it already. Averaging 26mpg overall, 30mpg on the highways. Sad they haven’t updated he infotainment system to the great systems in other new Honda models, but that’s one of my only complaints besides the road noise and drone on the highway. If I could change anything: get 18” wheels. With a 9.5” wide wheel with a +45 offset, there isn’t much change in torque steer but you can fit a 255 or 265 size tire with more sidewall. Beyond those complaints: I love this car. It reminds you of the simple joy of driving. For $36,000 it’s a really fun car.

It looks exactly like my 2019 championship white, I lived in the cool climate and give up the AWD in the same group, choose civic type R, and happy without any regrets.
I have a 2019 SGP type r. I LOVE it. It has full bolt ons, and is tuned on Hondata. Right around 400hp. And man is it a FUN car. I love it. Really one of the best cars I’ve owned.

I know many dislike the FK8 because it's "overstyled". The large wing, fake vents, etc.
I don't really think the styling is that bad as many put out to be.
Yeah, I agree they could tone down some of the design elements abit, but I wouldn't call what it bad.
I think they know it's not for everyone. I personally love the crazy looks. Doubt I'll be driving it in my 30's, but I'm 25 and loving it.

I finally got to drive one at work the other day.
It was a blast, I was surprised how short the throws were with the manual, but super easy to drive. Can't believe how well it handles for a FWD car. It's fast too.

Dont have an accord but the 1.5t ext civic, the cvt is kinda a downy but my god can that thing handle and get on it on fairly quick. Such a great feeling mobbing down the freeway or cornering backroads on the way home after a long day...

I had my Si for two months, thought about trying to add parts to it but wasn't a smart move IMO so I traded it in for a Type R and I'm so happy I did, the Type R is a beast!
