I wish I had watched this before I planted my store bought asparagus roots. I left the crown sticking out of the soil. I don't think any of them survived. Good thing there was a pre-existing patch already growing when we moved on to our place. Thanks for the video, I learned a few things about growing asparagus.

Good video. Do they spread out with time or just give 1 asparagus per plant? 😅 when is best to plant? Early spring or fall?
I would plant in the early spring. Over time, the asparagus will definitely spread, giving multiple spears per plant.

I watched a video that told me to cut the new growth in the first year clearly they had no idea what they were talking about
Any experts I have consulted, recommend leaving new growth to send strength to the roots. That's the advice that I followed and it worked well for me.
