- Опубликовано: 29 сен 2024
- Our friends at Horizon Simulations have been working hard behind the scenes at creating the next freeware aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator - the Boeing 787-9! Many are incredibly excited for this, and today, we take it on a Preview Flight on VATSIM from Palma to Manchester!
It's a real route that the airframe was used on through the Summer season just gone and we'll be making use of it to test the aircraft and discuss it's various features too. Currently, there is NO date for release and this is a Preview Beta Build of the addon too - which also REQUIRES Premium Deluxe Edition of MSFS for it to run also.

Thanks for the preview, I'm pretty happy we'll now have the whole 787 line-up as freeware in the sim. Great to have the very capable -9 now.
I have a question, why do all of the content creators that is reviewing a new aircrafts always have the sounds of the aircraft turn down? I thing if you are reviewing an aircraft(s), And you want people to buy or download that particular aircraft, we should be able to hear everything.
Have you tried splitting all the audio feeds as you seem to think it's all very simple? I have tried and have no idea how to do it...
They've made the same mistake as most MSFS developers. The left outboard and right outboard DU's are a copy-paste. IRL they are mirrored. The Quality Wings 787 does it correctly. A 787 pilot IRL says it is really annoying as it's a major visual annoyance.
Head over to their discord server and give them the suggestion then 🙂
@@BritishAvgeek I have talk with some developers about that and the response is that having two big different displays would need to have different airspeed/altitude etc calculated that would make an impact on performance, I don’t agree as most persons obviously, other projects include that so why not??
@@patpilot1675 In fairness, it’s a free mod in its early days. Give them time!
I think you’ll find that WTT did that on purpose to save on resources. They MIGHT revisit it in the future
ATM means Assumed Temperature Method, which is similar to Flex temp in Airbus. Learned this from 737NGdriver
Yeah someone mentioned it on live chat during this stream and we spoke about it briefly here 🙂
Very nice! The only complaint i'd say is there is not enough wind noise to wash out the engine sound the higher you get.
That's a sound issue that could be solved in future. Today I'll be live with the RR version using the FTSim+ sounds to compare so I'll be interested to hear if that's present in that pack by comparison or not
Hi I have a problem when I load into a flight my 787-9 FCM seems to have a 787-10 FCM going down the middle of It making it unusable how can I get rid of that?
Nice video. Looking forward to fly this beauty. Cheers👍
Thanks! Hopefully not too much of a wait
Surely getting it on day 1!!!
Great vid. Quite frequently the ATC chatter made it very difficult to understand what you were saying. If there’s a way to turn that down for your viewers that would be helpful. Looking forward to this ac.
Thanks, the ATC seemed incredibly loud even when I turned it right down on vpilot, never had that before as much as this so not sure what changed but I'm monitoring it
Awesome stream as always!
Appreciate it! Was great fun!
EFB reminds me of 787 of quality wings
Great video! Does it have the ability to set step climbs on page 2 of the VNAV page on the FMS, like in the QualityWings 787?
It had the ability to step climb yes - I'd have to double check to be certain whether it's automatically recommended step climbs or whether you can insert them custom
Hello there. Great video. How do you get those custom views that kinda travel from view to view as you switch views? Kinda like you’re running through the aircraft
I use custom views for those - you can find some for it that I've created on the website flightsim.to
Is this Horizon 787 so called «study level»? Will QualityWings make a 787 for MSFS?
It's a good standard but not 100% simulated - it's the same level as the Kuro 787-8 and Asobo 787-10 with what it can do so very useable and enjoyable still. And no idea about Quality Wings - I doubt they are even doing anything anymore
for a freeware mod it doesn't look too bad at all
Yeah not bad at all 🙂
I downloaded the new Horizon 787-9 and I fly for Korean Air with SimBitWorld APL2. The livery looks beautiful on the 787-9.
Which mod are you using to do the safety announcement when you are taxiing? Great video!
LukeAirTool.net
@@BritishAvgeekwill it be on series x as well in the 27th!
is it better than asobo?
so is this more advanced than the default ? as the default is also getting updates?
It used all the working title improvements to the 787-10 and puts it in the -9 :)
Whats the TOGA key?
yeah the nose snapped unrealistically to the ground hope they address that
It's been improved since :)
Hello, thank you for the video but I need help. My elevator STAB trim does not seem to be working. I tried setting it 5.25 but when I set it would automatically go back 8.50. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Make sure any AI assists or autotrim is off.
whats the actual diference between this mod and the default aircraft (except that its -9 and not -10)? I have been looking at many vids and I cant find someone actually mentioning something major lol
We spoke about it during the live stream. In essence it's the same but a different size (787 family of course) however this has a much greater range, different power ratings on the engines, and this different weight/balance compared to the -10 meaning it handles slightly differently. It therefore opens up wider options of routes short and long as operators like TUI use the -9 for shorter hops around Europe as well as longer trips too
Hi, thank you for video. Could you pls advice how can I change the PFD pitch indicators from triangle to horizontal bars?
It's in the FMC menu settings page
PF always has the eng instruments on his side bud
What clouds do you use? 😬 they are amazing! Is it Rex or MSFS ones?
Just default MSFS :)
what would you recommend for the rolls royce soundpack update?
Either leave it as the default Asobo sounds or pay for the FTSim+ sound pack.
The GENX custom sounds that will already be in this are great so you do not need FTSIM+ for those
Hard to hear you over the act.
VPilot changed something meaning it's all a lot louder. Still tinkering to get it back to what it was but for some reason they made everything louder 😅
What's the realism/fidelity from 0 to 10?
About 7 I guess
Is there a cabin modelled or at least cabin windows for wing views?
No as shown in this live stream you can set custom views up like I did but no cabin (we showed it all in the stream)
The Iberia pilot speaking in English in Spain! I've never heard that in my life.
🤣
Does it requires a premium deluxe upgrade or is it a standalone addon?
As mentioned in the stream and in the description of the stream too, it requires premium deluxe
Is Heavy Division dead with their 787?
Not sure - the GENX sounds are from heavy division interestingly enough
great video, just wondering how did u get the Rolls Royce engine sounds, i just got the 787-9 and it just sounds like the default 787-10
Hi! Check out the 787-9 General Electric GENX engine option - that has its own custom sounds which are really good. For the RR option though, I've installed the FTSim+ sound pack
@@BritishAvgeek oh how do i install it to the 787-9 variant? For rr
@@BritishAvgeeksound as soon as I download it what engines are on it? And do I need a soundpack for both. Hate moving files lol
so no one builds the 787 with a working APU inlet Door and when the 787-9 takes off as soon as the landing are off the pavement the landing gear doors open automatically. It seems like qualitywiings where the only one to get it right in those 2 areas. But beside that its a amazing aircraft they made and looks amazing and sounds great
Unfortunately quality wings are nowhere to be seen or heard so others have decided to try make one themselves and have done a good job minus a few bits like what you mention
There is still no release date correct
@@rel6438 correct
What actually changed about the 787-9? It doesn't look much different
It doesn't look different because it's a 787 and they all look the same 😅 it has a greater range, is longer and heavier and the engines have a different power rating so performs slightly differently
-9 is shorter than the default -10, with bigger range. Cockpit is exactly the same.
It's mostly external model and flight performance tweaks.
Great video thanks! Thoughts on this versus the Kuro 787?
The same level of great freeware aircraft :)
@@BritishAvgeek amazing, thanks! 🙏🏽 Keep up the great videos too mate
So does this have good sounds?
The GENX custom sounds included are fantastic. If you fly the RR engine varient then it's default asobo
@@BritishAvgeek so I won't need to change anything? How do I select gen x
@@markjackson5333 not for GENX liveries - in the SIM menu you will have 2 B789s to choose from, the GE engine and the RR engine
does this has cabin ?
like fenix and pmdg ?
No, it doesn't as meantioned in the Chat Replay. Don't blame you though - I never look at it and only know because I was watching the stream
No it doesn't
are the payware VC textures for the asobo 787 compatible with this?
Not sure but later today when I livestream again with another preview of this, we'll be looking at their own Texture revamp too with new cockpit textures so it might be worth you tuning in for that
ok so the video here is with the old ones right? the payware ones are way waaaaaaaaaaaay better than what i saw here, thats why i asked. @@BritishAvgeek
I saw other streamers use them, so they should work.
@@johndonovan7018 did you see the stream the other day when I flew the ANA livery? That had the cockpit texture changes to make it look more "worn" from Horizon Simulations (and it's not payware)
have not; will check it out. nothing to do with wear. the POLYSTORM3D ones absolutely do an amazing job of bringing details to 2d space. so its kinda big deal if they are compatible. if they did not change VC mapping they should. was asking in case you had them and swapped over to check. we will know soon with release being set now@@BritishAvgeek
You did forget to add CG in the EFF
In the EFB? No idea - never used it before so not familiar with it
@@BritishAvgeek EFB yes
Is this a new cockpit by them or what did they do to build the aircraft, how far differ from the QW 787 in term of system depths?
It's based off the 787-10 in Premium Deluxe
@@BritishAvgeek did they amend it to where all the OH panel works?
@@ibraheemnabeel did you even bother to watch any elements of the stream?
@@BritishAvgeek I did but wasn't sure if everything got simulated here regarding OH panel.
@@ibraheemnabeel it's the same as the 787-10 in MSFS with what's simulated on the overhead
Does it has pause at TD ?
Don't think it does no
@@BritishAvgeek I use Lorby Time Machine for Pause at TOD and it works with all aircraft I've tried.
How do you get the safety video playing?
It's a separate tool called LukeAirTool.net
Oh this is Asobo -10 cutted off. Nothing special.
Don't use it then 🤣
@@BritishAvgeek sure!
