  • You used to say I had what it takes
I think I did if you meant too little too late
I can tell by the looks that I'm gettin'
    I made some big mistakes
And I thought you said I was great
Shoot straight and give it my best try
I made my heart as hard as nails
That may be the way you live your life
But it's almost got me killed
    Darling I'm not giving in
    That happened miles ago
I heard the north star saying
Kid you're so lost even I can't bring you home
Did you think that we were going to last
Honey you know you don't have to answer that
Half of that was my kind of joke
    I don't remember which half
    I didn't know how blue I'd get
I didn't know how I'd get blamed for it
I didn't choose to go down this road
No one chooses to be sick
    I'm saying everything is fine
By the look in my eye
    But you know darling
Half of what a man says is a lie
It's your last chance to forget me now
    That it's done for good
You always said I'd make it out
Somehow darling I knew I never would
Thanks for everything, Jason, hope everything is easier now R.I.P.
(photos are of two of many times I was lucky to see him; All Tomorrow´s Parties 2007 and End of the Road 2008)

I rarely comment on these things. Jason was my brother. He was pretty good at the music, but very good at being a brother and friend. This song tells his life story. It is about work and failure and death, but there is nothing sad about that. It is just most of our truths. Regards to all that watch this and much love.

I'll beg to differ a little with that "pretty good at the music". He put down a body of work that will still be played decades from now. Not a small accomplishment. Had he made it through, he probably could have toured just on the songs he already had for the rest of a long life. Sorry for your loss, though. By the way, thanks for signaling the meaning of this song.

your brother spoke to me like no other musician. I can't tell you how close to my heart I keep all of these songs.
I'm sorry that you had to lost him, that we all had to lost him. but in his life he accomplished what should be the dream of every artist: to change the lives of his audience for the better. so he did more than most people do in their lifetimes.
plus, I will always remember him, and I will pass this affection for music to my children, and I know others will do the same. so he will never be forgotten, he will never truly die, he will never be ''paralysed by the emptiness''

      Sorry for your loss Aaron.
I admit I did not discover his music until that March of 2013 that he passed, but nonetheless it has become extremely important to me.
      Thanks for commenting.

This song is about humanity, taking care of people nobody wants to see.. It is about me and my fight against my husband's alcoholism. Alone and desperate.. Nobody took care of us but we won the war alone.. Nobody should be left alone.. Neither you Jason.. I frequently think about you and about the fact you died alone with a phone with only your grandma numbers.. So they say. It can be true and it's so sad.. I still admire you and I'll admire you for the rest of my life. Sorry for my English.. I'm Italian

I was in a pub in the uk. Songs OHIA were gonna play. I went to the upstairs room before the show to see what was going on. No one up there. Some small guy comes out when I am there and I help him move a few tablees and benches. We don't talk much. Just two guys doing a job. Half an hour later the show starts. the small guy is playing and singing. A great show. To this day, i really wish I had told him how much his music meant. But it was just two guys doing a job. I think that sums it up.

I discovered Jason's music tonight. Listened to 50 videos. Fell in love with this huge sound, new music that sounded classic and it seemed impossible that I hadn't heard it. I went to his website and discovered he's gone. I felt like I lost what I never had. I'm a fan for life. RIP.

All of the comments I see on Molina's songs echo how I feel and what I would say. It's clear that those who connected with his music did so on a very intimate and meaningful level. I can't think of a songwriter who captured vulnerability the way Jason did.

"It's your last chance to forget me now And it's DONE for good" I love how Jason sings that "Done" with so much feeling, you can even say it is in like a sense of irony, like laughing to something you should be crying about. To me it is the greates part of this record because it simply summarize Jason's dedication to his art which, in my opinion, puts him way above many artists nowadays. He feels it. He feels it so much while singing it and you can see it is delivered right from his heart. I just love him man. A true artist. He has something unique in his style of writing and singing and it always manages to touch your soul. This man was a gem. He deserves way more recognition than this.

The guitar playing is awkward, the drumming is heavy handed, the bass guitar is almost absent from the mix. It may be the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

As I am going through a tough time myself, his words let me know I am not just all fucked by myself. This stuff happens, but I still believe that if I fight, it will get better. For those that lose the belief or the battle, I have a great sorrow.

+Julia cox I am. Life is great. I never got too low, but low enough that I definitely understood these lyrics in a way maybe not everybody does. But a year later, and another failed relationship later, I am great. My greatest hope for anybody in a dark place is to hang in there for the better time that will come.
