Drove around crying listening to Jason all day yesterday. Woke up this morning listening to Jason crying... That fucking dark just swallows the most gentle souls.
It broke my heart to leave the city I mean it broke what wasnt broken in there, already. That line. The first line. On the first listen, I recognized I was hearing a special talent. There havent been many artists of this generation who can just penetrate walls and get to the heart of it like Jason. Truly a gifted songwriter. I keep coming back to his music.
I read about this song in the book "Run The Game" by Jason Myers, so I decided to give it a listen. I was blown away. It's like every line is absolutely perfect.
This song when upon first hearing it many years ago, I completely understood his lyrics, it spoke straight to me, I could identify deep down in my soul with his words and it brought me to tears cause he understood very much the depths of suffering a person can go through as a result of circumstances and the point of entry in life. All of us could use a little better luck sometimes!
emailed kyle about, shit i dont even remember now, but it was may years ago. whenever i get to missing chicago, i always watch this and here i am again, missing chicago. thanks for this.
Nos dejaste el 16 de marzo de 2013, Seguro que allí arriba donde estas seguirás con tus bonitas melodías endulzando sus vidas. Gracias por los bonitos momentos que me has dado.
Used to live listening to this in my early twenties, song just popped into my head last night and I had to stick it on. Now found out that the guy who played it died of alcoholism, so sad.
I hope Jason Molina can at least make it out with his life . We all have problems and some times they seem like they may destroy you . Thank you for giving this music to us , it truly helps .
i keep thinking of this line in Cabwaylingo "This will survive" in that when you create something beautiful and out of love it will be seen by others. just like this video.
This is definitely Chicago. You can see CTA bus stop signs, Brazzaz, the Chicago River, and Marina City along with other buildings along the Chicago skyline.

Three years later. I love Jason - but I always weep (sometimes I need to). How are you doing now?

For those that don't know, this song is about Jason leaving his beloved Chicago. He was never really the same after that.
Where did he go?
Moved to London for his wife's work, later ended up in Indy.
Kaydubbed. Thanks ! How so was he never the same ? I want to know everything there is to know about Jason.
Good ol Chicago. I too can relate but only moved a few counties over 😢
for the record, this was entirely filmed in Chicago, mostly in Lincoln Park, River North, and Logan Square
I left Chicago too..I sometimes stare out the window dreaming of that city that seems so far away
Great music, Jason knew how to transmit his most inner feelings....

It's Chicago...
A big yay for alt.country!
i feel like this song is very similar to the " i left my heart in san fransico", the melody that is.
dejaste la ciudad Jason, te veo en el desierto amigo.
Does anyone know who the female background vocalist might be?
Jennie Benford
Quirky, offbeat, very different sounding voice.
