More than one month after PEOPLE first reported that Affleck, 51, and Lopez, 54, were living separately in Los Angeles as they dealt with strife in their marriage, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that the Academy Award-winning filmmaker moved all of his things out of the couple's Beverly Hills mansion before Lopez returned from a recent trip to Europe.

It’s been a lifelong pattern - though with Marc Anthony and Alex Rodriguez, who seemed to be a very good fit with J-Lo, it lasted longer than her other relationships. It’s time she seek counseling and take a good look at herself. And she is wealthy enough and successful enough, she can easily live well and happily on her own and enjoy the last few years with her teenage twins before they leave home to establish lives of their own.

He must’ve felt humiliated all over again, as he felt when he was made the center of a paparazzi storm the first time they were together and all their privacy was sacrificed on the altar of her vanity. He had the bad fortune of finally understanding that JLo is nothing more than a self-absorbed narcissist that will use anything in her life as publicity to remain relevant. Nothing is sacred to her, other than her own fame.

These celebrities and many in society, in general, do not honor the sanctity of marriage. Marriage is a covenant and should not be entered in lightly. So many people marry for the wrong reasons, and without truly analyzing what they are getting themselves into, and as a result, divorce or misery is inevitable. I have been divorced for 16 years, so I can speak to this from not only observation but also personal experience.
Ben is broken, and so is JLo. They jump from fling to fling, relationship to relationship. I hope they will both focus on becoming more self-aware and whole.

It's all too easy for people to say stuff like "They're such a good match!", but you have to think about the relationship as a whole. Sure, they might have a laugh together, or be good at conversating together, etc, etc, but sometimes the magic romantic spark is missing. If they both would rather be with other people, let it happen. There's only so much anyone can do to rescue anyone's relationship. We're not superhuman. Better to admit that it isn't what it once was, than to carry on in denial. When it's obvious that the relationship is waning, I think it's time to start admitting defeat. Some relationships just aren't meant to last for a long time. That's not something ANYONE can control. If anyone tried to control someone else's relationship, then that's manipulation, and it isn't on.

I feel like people are so invested in this because they want to see her humbled. There can be no doubt he just couldn’t take it any more. Ben always wants her most when things are going good for her and she’s proven now she will cast aside everything and everyone to go running to him no matter what or who she’s invested in at the time. Let’s not forget that she couldn’t wait to take Ben up on his desire to reconcile the second she knew she was facing utter public humiliation over Alex’s cheating scandal. Of course she has never stopped obsessing over Ben and the moment he provided an out for her to change the conversation from a humiliating headline to one of romance and nostalgia she sprinted toward him and pretended Alex’s betrayal never happened. In her mind, Ben could not have shown up at a more perfect time to spare her fragile ego from breaking stories that Alex had been pursuing an Instagram model; but now, Ben dumping her as brutally and abruptly as he did the last time has been the ultimate humiliation for this woman. This is catastrophic for her image and for her own self-worth. Their relationship always seems to run its course within a two-year period. Ben had to learn the hard way that attraction can only carry you so far and ultimately the person you’re with has to have depth and substance and she has neither. Clearly he has realized that they are completely incompatible on so many levels, especially their values and intellect. Ben really has to have someone who is highly intelligent and is not so beguiled by the superficial. Unfortunately Jennifer is very ambitious but she is extremely limited and lacks the sophistication Ben has. This one is done for good and there can be no doubt the impact of losing this relationship for a second time will have a permanent and devastating impact on Jennifer’s psyche. This is what happens when shallow people try to compete with a spouse who is way out of their league. Jennifer has always been insecure and envious and competitive when it comes to Ben and her envy revealed itself in the ugliest way this time around and I believe that is ultimately what destroyed their marriage. Clearly, it was her need to outshine Ben’s accomplishments and his stardom that pushed him to the brink.

It's all very well, when people only see a relationship, when they are physically around the two people in the relationship, but friends don't know, how the two people in the relationship, ACTUALLY feel about each other. It may APPEAR like they have an unbreakable relationship, but you don't always know, what they're both thinking about each other, in their own individual minds. People can very well say stuff like "You're both such a good match for each other!", but one of the people in the relationship, might not be thinking that, or even both of them might not be thinking that. Just that onlookers, are only seeing what they see infront of their own eyes. It's natural for some relationships to fade out. Not every couple lasts for years. We need to accept that. Two people can't be forced to stay together. Better to admit that it just isn't the same as what it once was. Some people start making excuses, to avoid their current partner like "I have a very busy life, these days!", etc, etc. That's perfectly fine to do that, if it's how someone truly feels. A person can't show any more respect for the relationship, if they feel that they're losing interest in that relationship. There's only so much anyone can do, to keep two people in a relationship, but at the end of the day, it's up to the two people in that relationship. People have to be honest with themselves. Distance doesn't always make the heart grow stronger. Sometimes distance from each other is the perfect excuse, to not be in a relationship with the person. Especially if one of them/both of them, have lost the excitement of wanting to see each other. Relationships naturally can just lose their spark over time. It happens. At least just be thankful that the person was decent enough, to be honest, about not wanting to be with the other person anymore. What else were they supposed to do? It's a lot more difficult, and a very heavy burden on yourself, when you just want out of the relationship, but you're trying to please everyone else, by staying in the relationship with the person. That's a lot more mentally painful, than being honest, and choosing to finally dump the person. Staying in the relationship, when you feel it's making you feel worse, will just cause more problems.

@@michelleponzio Perfect description. I used to watch RHOBH as therapy when i felt bad or sad about myself. I compared myself and my own thoughts and behavior to these scarecrows, and i was like -yeaahh, i think i feel much better about myself now.
I couldn't afford a proper therapist and watching that series really worked, maybe even better than actual therapy.
