Katie and Suri were saved from Scientology by her amazing dad. He is a lawyer and did a fantastic job.
Katie's father is a powerful lawyer. He was instrumental in getting her and Suri away from Tom, and helping her sue him for custody.
I think at the time, she moved to NY, not because he had less clout, but the laws favour giving sole custody to the mother in the state. Still a smart move- as well as the fact she did Broadway.

1000% agree, and what I'm about to say is no excuse, but rather, an explanation. Scientology requires you to do "security checks" whenever you do anything against Scientology's rules. (This is somewhat similar to Catholic confessions, except they are mandatory and NOT confidential. So they are closer to a police interrogation.) There are cameras and listening devices hidden in the rooms to record everything. This information will be used against you if you ever speak out against Scientology. They may even interrogate you until you break down and confess, even if you didn't actually do it.
He could leave if he wanted to leave, but I don't think he wants to. He could if he wanted to and he had the balls to face a Scientology smear campaign. But he's been so deep into Scientology for years. Sadly, I think he doesn't care. Or at the very least, he doesn't care enough. 💔

Assumptions can be dangerous. Instead, be happy for Suri. She is living her own life. Just because Tom Cruise is her biological parent, doesnt make him a father. Sometimes its healthier to be away from toxic situations.
Yes indeed. I had to do that. No matter what achievement I did. It never was good enough. I got married and my stepchildren were never treated as family by certain family members. I cannot have kids but my older sister kids were spoiled. They never said thank you. Now I am divorced.
Kudos to Katie, a wonderful, loving mom who has protected her daughter, unlike so many in Hollywood.
By not taking the last name Holmes, Suri may be trying to be independent from the fame of both parents and have a normal private life

My brother hasn't seen his daughter since she was 18 momths old. She's 65 now. A wonderful woman. He's never tried to see her it's his loss.
My ex hasn’t seen or communicated with my son since he was 8. I’ve tried to encourage both to reach out, but my son says if his father doesn’t want to reach out, it’s his loss. (My son is an adult). I can’t say I blame him.

I hope it is true that Katie reached out to Nicole. Nicole would have been the best person to fully understand what she was going through. I think for both women it would have been super healing. I grew up in the 80s he was super popular then, I never imagined he would do something like this, and dump his child for a cult. I remember how obsessed he was with Katie when they first met, disappointed in him, wonder if the kids from his first marriage even speak to him.
