  • The Kusari Fundo (鎖分銅) is a handheld weapon used in feudal Japan consisting of a length of chain (kusari) with a weight (fundo) attached to each end of the chain. Various sizes and shapes of chain and weight were used as there was no set rule on the construction of these weapons. Other popular names are manrikigusari (萬力鏈) (lit. 'ten-thousand-power chain') or just manriki.
    .
Mastering Kusari Fundo Techniques is obviously a skill of the Ninja. Soke Anshu Christa Jacobson will demonstrate some of the secret techniques on how the ninja used Kusari fundo In a fight!
    .
This lesson is directly for those training in the traditional Japanese martial arts and self-defense techniques of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo).

Manriki chain saved me in a fight at docks once from 2 drunks mistaking me for someone else. Was attacked at the end of a dock with no real place to go or with much warning. Thankfully I had been practicing soft weapon use since I was 14 was (Was 27 when I was attacked). It's been my EDC forever and fits in my pocket well. Due to the dock being an narrow finger pier, only 1 could rly advance at a time, which worked well for me. Grappled and tossed the first off to the side then struck the knee of the other with the chains weight and pushed him off when he lost balance. Ran back to my motorcycle where my friend was and we just left. It's best to dissengage quickly cause who know what else can happen.

What did they do to attack you and prompt your defense? Like did they punch you or push you or something?
