    I agree that domestic violence is wrong. But if a person has to resort to violence to defend themselves from domestic violence it might look like the victim is the abuser when they're not. So it's important to look at all the evidence before making a possibly wrong judgement. (It's especially problematic to assume that the victim has to be a perfect victim i.e. never having done anything wrong themselves because that can easily result in not taking victims seriously and treating them like they "had it coming" just because they are humanly flawed or morally gray people.) Also abusers can be clever in manipulating not just the victim but also the people around (e.g. media etc.), especially when they are in a position of power, to discredit the victim and prevent them from getting help/getting out of the situation. (I'm referring to the boyfriend of Goo Hara claiming that she attacked him because of being jealous.)

You as a K-pop fan are never entitled to the idol's personal life and just because they chose a life as a celebrity doesn't mean they should endure all the hate they receive. It always makes me sick when netizens call themselves K-pop fans but are willing to go after an idol just because they are in a relationship. 28:41 you aren’t dumb! He’s twisting the narrative in a convoluted way. Basically his statement was saying that they made a s*x tape, consensually, as a joke and he immediately deleted at that time; now, he and his gf were fighting and she went to the police to report him for this video to get revenge. That’s why the attorney called the tech girl and told her “just say you didn’t find anything” because that would support his statement that the video she reported was deleted. And then he said she withdrew the charges to make it seem like she had lied and filed a false report out of spite, when in reality she withdrew the charges because she was intimidated into withdrawing them.

    ive been into kpop since 2015 so ive seen a whole lot of shit from the fans towards idols for literally nothing. the dating scandals are basically taboo topic cuz it gets people heated up (and no matter how many times, the women always get it worse). they create a fantasy in their minds, like a "pick me" person, as if the idol they love will pick THEM and love only THEM and how they should stay pure and untouched until they get to THEM. that's why these people are also called "idols" and not singers or musicians etc. it gives this sort of "idolizing" aspect to a whole human being and the company legit sells them off like the ideal version of who they should come off as. they are presented innocent and pure and "perfect" and that's why it's often said how one can't do a certain bad thing cause the idol is oh-so-damn-sweet.
    (and i am not talking about how it COULD be true that they ARE sweet and whatever. but most of it is still the whole image they sell to mask over the fact that they dont got anything bad or any negative traits on them)
    majority of my time in kpop has been in shinee, got7 and bts. the amount of toxicity i got exposed to without even searching for it or engaging in anything to have it find my way is fkn too many times. death threats are so easy to spread in such places, it's seriously unhealthy. (major fact why i left kpop alone for 2 yrs to work on _my_ mental health. it is THAT toxic). people take no shame to drag someone, even the idol they preach they love. people should grow some brain and sit the fuck down and see both sides and not just blindly trust with whatever blinded love they got for a human being. many don't realize that and it just gets very deep into obsession and all what comes with it.
    rest in peace to both of them. they got spat on over and over again and it just never had an end to it. and to even live in fear from your own boyfriend is so fkn scary.

    1:04:30 i think it's more about social perception. Yeah she didn't drop any music but their relationship stuff is going viral all the time, like her pregnancys, couple outfits and the recent vid of her singing a GloRilla song with ASAP treating her cutely. In america this relationship content is really loved by netizens, but in korea (where pda and openly displaying a relationship is perceived as promiscuous) it's shameful.

    • @vlad5042
      @vlad5042 12 дней назад +1

      genuine question tho is it actually that pda or being openly in a relationship is generally seen as promiscuous? bc it seems just as popular among say korean influencers as american ones, and it doesnt seem to be nearly as big a problem for korean actors. i dont really think its a more conservative attitude as much as it is a weird possessive attitude people have towards asian idols in particular which is encouraged by those idols' companies and often even the idols themselves in some ways. unlike most american popstars, kpop idols' jobs are way more about pretending to be their fans' fantasy boyfriend or girlfriend. some idols lean into this more or less than others but its kinda baked into idolhood, fans are encouraged to be weirdly intimate with their idols during fanmeets and a lot of idols will treat weverse or bubble calls like theyre mystic messenger characters calling to flirt with y/n. lots of idols when asked their ideal type will cheekily answer with their fandom name. i would say the best equivalent in western media is streamers, particularly attractive female streamers with a predominantly male audience who, like idol fans, treat the streamer like their fantasy gf and, like idol fans, treat it like a personal betrayal if they happen to find out she has an actual irl boyfriend. not trying to victim blame the idols here (or streamer girls for that matter), its a twisted expectation of the industry that i think more companies should be working to change by defending their idols when they get caught dating.

      @@vlad5042 that's also so true and such a big factor. My best friend is korean (currently serving his military service), he usually gives me cultural context and explanations. It's also vastly different if you entertain as a couple or a different type of content creators. Korean couple influencers usually start as a couple and get extreme shitstorms for breaking up, in contrast single influencers (mostly kpop idols) get lot's of hate for being unavailable. He also often says Kdramas are an escape for the korean population, cus most can't openly date till "marriage age" and are supposed to focus on studies or live with their parents till they're married. That's also why there are "hourly motels" on almost every corner, some people literally don't have the timely capabilities or cultural approval to engage in serious relationships. That's one of the reasons why kdramas and those specific couple influencers are so popular, but if it comes to an "available" idol it's a whole different case.

      @@ash-qu33nno worries about your english its perfect. and thats interesting to hear, im sure all that stigma against relationships is not helping with the low birth rate situation. i do notice another excuse fans often use for hating on idols with dating scandals is this weird idea that being in a relationship reflects some sort of lack of dedication to their career. to me this always seems like a blatant rationalization for jealousy (and i still do think thats true to some extent) but it also makes sense in the context of a culture that thinks dating is a distraction from things like your studies. it also seems like older idols/idols who have been debuted for longer tend to get less backlash than idols who are younger and newer in their career, maybe for that same reason of considering dating to be an inappropriate distraction for young people. seems like theres a lot of factors that contribute to this weird possessive fan culture.

    Looking back on it, maybe the gf pressed fake charges because she found out that her bf was SAing other girls? Idk if that's true or not but it would explain why she might have pressed fake charges if she knew that there was nothing about her on his phone. I mean, if the bf was innocent, why would his phone be conveniently broken? I assume that Kpop idols (similar to other celebrities) have to have a phone on them ASAP. And phones don't just break easily, they might crack if you drop them tho.
    This is ofc just my theory. The gf pressing those charges that are apparently fake just because they had an argument seems weird. Especially when you take into account that she had EVERYTHING to lose if NOTHING was on the phone. Knowing how crazy the fans can get, I feel like the gf would have been harassed and even doxxed if nothing else happened to (in a way) shield her from facing the wrath of fans 😅
