    I kind of agree with that one chatter, when i went to the phillipines it was not all sunshine and rainbows. Especially manila. There were nice parts, but most of it was horrible. Worst pollution i’ve ever seen, poverty everywhere. There were children sleeping on cardboard on the sidewalk across the street from our fancy hotel.

    • @iValkyrie46
      @iValkyrie46 5 месяцев назад +97

      Yep, many parts of SEA are like that. Some rich parts are... really rich... But just behind the fence, there would be a ghetto full of poverty.
      I'm from Jakarta, it's not rare to see a place full of luxury next to a place where people earn less than $50 a month.
      So of course if they went on a predetermined tour and then went to a private resort, it would all be sunshine and rainbows.

      Well the Philippines definitely has it's share of problems, you're not wrong about that. Unfortunately, that's an issue no matter where you go. It's safe to say that Jodi's experience was curated, to a degree. But in general I'd agree with Jodi regarding people from the Philippines, the vast majority of my interactions with Filipinos has been positive. They strike me as good humored, hard workers.

      Asia is really good at hiding all for tourists. You really have to go off the beaten path to see it. Some countries like the US don't even try to hide it. You will 100% see homelessness in wealthy areas in LA.

    I think I have a tiny bit of credibility about what I am to say as I am a filipino since birth.
    Not a lot of filipinos are creepy, most of them are the ones you see on the street drinking though. They would cat call you, say some f----d up stuff that would offend most women.
    However, this is mostly not going to happen if you are a foreigner since a lot of filipinos are shy by nature. I am sure that a lot of those you met are creepy and wild in nature, it's just we don't show that in public because a lot of us grew up learning common decency, aka "Do your weird creepy stuff in private and at your own time"
    That is why you won't "usually* meet a lot of weird filipinos....... unless you've been friends with them for quite a while but that's also a fun experience on a different level.

I am not sure of how they make it yellow. I think its just a coloring.. Was it turmeric? We used that to make rice kind of yellow in a resto i worked before.
    Goto also normally has pig intestine in it. Arroz Caldo, can be yellow as well but instead of pig as base, it's chicken and has chicken bits.
