- In this video, “Hanbojutsu: Blocking Drill”. I demonstrate a basic stick fighting blocking drill that anyone who is training in martial arts can utilize. Many times, your defense is your offense. If you can make your blocks become a powerful strike, you can neutralize any attack!
This lesson is directly for the practitioners of the ancient Japanese koryu martial arts of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo).

Is this any particular Ryu-ha or is it just sort of basics from all of them?
Not "really" from any one traditions (ryuha), but the basics of the weapon. The hanbo is a weapon and taught within a few of the traditions that we have. However, formal kata will primarily come from the Tenjin-ryu
@@SokeAnshu okay great. Primarily I had worked kukishinden as you know. I knew the techniques were named and done a little differently. I like the way you explain the circular blocks. I had never had that explained in comparison of the empty hand blocks. That is super cool. Makes it so much easier to understand. Thanks again Anshu Christa for making it simple to understand in stead of making it so mysterious it can't be understood.
