    In this video, Jono teaches you a useful beginner ice skating move called a bunny hop. This move is significantly easier in figure skates due to the toe pick, however it can be done in hockey skates. Just keep in mind that without the toe pick, your risk of falling is greater.

    Fun fact: For the 2018-2019 season (I think) Shoma Uno did a bunny hop into a triple Axel.

    Extremely detailed explanation. That's what I love in your videos. What I miss here is a slow motion of the whole bunny hop. It is at the beginning of the video and that's it. Could You PLEASE add to your videos a whole squence of the move that You teach? You used to do this and it was an immense help to a greenhorn like me. 😘

      Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Make sure you keep watching all the way till the end of the video, we've added a regular speed clip at the beginning and the slow motion clip during the end screen.

      @@IceCoachOnline Yes. I've seen both but it would be lovely to watch some more close ups. In slow motion. 2 is good but 100 times is better 😉

    My coach went straight to teaching us the waltz jump and I'm struggling a lot with landing on and taking off from my toepick. Thanks for this tutorial, i'm going to try practising this, hope it will help me get the hang of it.

  • @ninjagal
    @ninjagal 4 года назад +5

    I was literally practicing this yesterday and i was figuring out if I should land on two foot or one foot then follow up with the other foot because l've been doing the one foot but didn't know I had to land on my toepick too. This is super helpful and answered the questions I had for this specific element. It's my favorite so far. Hopefully I can waltz jump soon as well!
    Great content as usual

    This is so helpful. This jump (which I first had to find out what the english term is for) just didn't work out for me. Seeing it so slow and in parts instead of only one fast fluid motion from the instructor was just what I needed. I now probably know why I fell on my knees yesterday after the landing. Tomorrow is free training. I'll try again then. Maybe I can finally land it for my grading in a few weeks.
    You got a new subscriber with me. Those are very helpful videos. I'm in my third year of figure skating, but since our lessons are only during the winter season (1x45min lesson and 1x45min free training per week) and in big groups, progress is not that quick. You also don't get much individual help and practice sth for 1 weeks only to find out next week that you did it wrong. Me being 24, and not 8 to 14 like the other girls in my group, also makes it difficult. Sometimes my brain just refuses to move my legs.

    So there's no pick launch in the middle? I think I was taught to do this completely wrong!

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 года назад +1

      There's a "pick launch" right at the beginning to get you up in the air, but the next thing after that would be the pick landing!

    • @captaincrunch784
      @captaincrunch784 4 года назад

      @@IceCoachOnline but I shouldn't be digging my pick into the ice and having snow fly right? I think my instructor confused this jump with a side toe hop.

    Lots of talking but have no idea what the jump is supposed to look like. Kind of like a cooking show where someone tells you what to do but you never see them cook.
