That was the Statler Brothers. In the early 1960s, the group coalesced around the talents of four Virginians: Harold Reid, Phil Balsley, Lew DeWitt, and Don Reid.
Don Reid was the principle writer for the group, writing most of the songs himself or co-writing with brother Harold. Don has had over 250 of his songs recorded by not only the STATLERS, but also by Johnny Cash, George Burns, Tammy Wynette, The Cathedrals, and Elvis Presley to name a few.
Harold Reid and younger brother Don Reid , Phil Balsley and Lew DeWitt rounded out the quartet. Due to illness, DeWitt was replaced by Jimmy Fortune in 1982. DeWitt passed away in 1990.
Jimmy Fortune sang tenor for The Statler Brothers for 21 years, and wrote the song "Elizabeth" for the group. After The Statler Brothers retired, he continued to perform as a solo artist
In November 1981, DeWitt took a leave of absence from The Statler Brothers due to surgery and treatment for Crohn's disease, from which he had suffered since adolescence. At his suggestion, Jimmy Fortune was tapped as his temporary replacement. No so temporary it seems
April 2020 Harold Reid , helped make the Statler Brothers a top-grossing touring act and a steady presence on the country music charts for decades, died at his home in Staunton, Va. He was 80.
Harold Reid, a founding member of the group, was the Statler Brothers’ de facto leader as they placed 58 singles in the country Top 40 from 1965 to 1989 - 32 of them in the Top 10.
    Philip Balsley sang baritone.
Flowers on the Wall was a hit that crossed over from Country music

Super fondbmemories of listening to these guys ever since I was small. These guys and Billy Joe Royal it burns like a rocket.
Or T Graham Brown turn the wine back into water. Anything that Aaron Tippin did.. oh and John Conlee because for some reason The Statler Brothers always remind me of John Conlee. I guess I was listening to them about the same time. But yeah I grew up on it this group that song and Against The Wind by Bob Seger.
Wow does that bring back memories. These guys are probably my favorite singers from when I was really really small. Thank you another song called sweeter and sweeter it's really well done love the video they were doing videos before videos became too popular I mean MTV had some but country music that not everybody had some Statler Brothers were something that stood out my memory.

Jimmy Fortune, who sang tenor on this song ( he also wrote it) is one of the best singers around. He is involved with a group called Brotherly love. The harmonies are out of this world. If you have time check them out, you won't regret it. Statler Bros were very popular when I was growing up. Thank you.😊❤

I didn't appreciate them as a kid, too slow! Lol

So many, many terrific songs and harmonies! They used to tour with Johnny Cash. Also, one side of one album was dedicated to the Road Hogg, and his Cadillac Cowboys, their alter ego band. They said had to stop appearing that way, as their own parody act was getting more attention during their budding career. Used to laugh and laugh when Dad flipped that record over...

This seems like an odd choice for them. The Statler Brothers were a fun group, with a lot of amazing songs. I've never heard this one, and it's a bit outside of their norm. Flowers On The Wall, Do You Know You Are My Sunshine, Hello Mary Lou (Remake from Ricky Nelson), I'll Go To My Grave, Lovin' You, The Class Of '57, Nothing As Original As You, This Old House and they recorded the most gorgeous version of Amazing Grace that I've ever heard.

But I can tell you that the people the men in the in the and the thing are the same people singing. Also two of them are brothers and I think one of them is cousin. I love them as I said one of my other comments.. I think I love all their songs but this one sweeter and sweeter and more than just a name on the wall are my favorites.
