That was the Statler Brothers. In the early 1960s, the group coalesced around the talents of four Virginians: Harold Reid, Phil Balsley, Lew DeWitt, and Don Reid. Don Reid was the principle writer for the group, writing most of the songs himself or co-writing with brother Harold. Don has had over 250 of his songs recorded by not only the STATLERS, but also by Johnny Cash, George Burns, Tammy Wynette, The Cathedrals, and Elvis Presley to name a few. Harold Reid and younger brother Don Reid , Phil Balsley and Lew DeWitt rounded out the quartet. Due to illness, DeWitt was replaced by Jimmy Fortune in 1982. DeWitt passed away in 1990. Jimmy Fortune sang tenor for The Statler Brothers for 21 years, and wrote the song "Elizabeth" for the group. After The Statler Brothers retired, he continued to perform as a solo artist In November 1981, DeWitt took a leave of absence from The Statler Brothers due to surgery and treatment for Crohn's disease, from which he had suffered since adolescence. At his suggestion, Jimmy Fortune was tapped as his temporary replacement. No so temporary it seems April 2020 Harold Reid , helped make the Statler Brothers a top-grossing touring act and a steady presence on the country music charts for decades, died at his home in Staunton, Va. He was 80. Harold Reid, a founding member of the group, was the Statler Brothers’ de facto leader as they placed 58 singles in the country Top 40 from 1965 to 1989 - 32 of them in the Top 10. Philip Balsley sang baritone. Flowers on the Wall was a hit that crossed over from Country music
The Statler Brothers were and are my favorite group 🤪and I can listen to them all day every day. Grew up listening to them and I’ll be 80 soon so you got a lot of catching up to do! Not a bad song ever! 😜 love your reactions!❤
My Wedding Song in 1999! I grew up listening to The Statler Brothers and saw them in concert 3 times! They are the best! Jimmy Fortune wrote this song for his brother's wedding in 1984.
Super fondbmemories of listening to these guys ever since I was small. These guys and Billy Joe Royal it burns like a rocket. Or T Graham Brown turn the wine back into water. Anything that Aaron Tippin did.. oh and John Conlee because for some reason The Statler Brothers always remind me of John Conlee. I guess I was listening to them about the same time. But yeah I grew up on it this group that song and Against The Wind by Bob Seger. Wow does that bring back memories. These guys are probably my favorite singers from when I was really really small. Thank you another song called sweeter and sweeter it's really well done love the video they were doing videos before videos became too popular I mean MTV had some but country music that not everybody had some Statler Brothers were something that stood out my memory.
The Statler Brothers were amazing in person. Their songs "Silver Medals and Sweet Memories" and "Susan When She Tried" are stunning. They did an album of gospel songs that's unforgettable.
The Statlers have always been one of my favorite groups. Harmonies beyond belief, and just plain great singing! And always having fun, something like our current acapella group, Home Free! Sadly we lost Harold Reid (the bass) a few years ago ... RIP Harold!
I have seen the Statler Brothers many times dating back to the 1960's, over the years became friends with several of them. They are honest down to earth people.
THANK YOU, thank you, thank you for reacting to more from the Statlers; especially this song. I have loved them quite literally all of my life! This song is deep in my heart and again I thank you for reacting to them. So few reactors do so you are helping to keep these legends' music alive. Thank you, Sir.
Jimmy Fortune, who sang tenor on this song ( he also wrote it) is one of the best singers around. He is involved with a group called Brotherly love. The harmonies are out of this world. If you have time check them out, you won't regret it. Statler Bros were very popular when I was growing up. Thank you.😊❤
That was the Statlers end photos in order of appearance Harold Reid Bass Don Reid Lead Tenor Phil Balsley Baritone Jimmy Fortune High Tenor replaced Lew Dewitt when he got sick and had to retire
I remember watching the Statler Brothers back in the 60s early Sunday morning. It was on TV. I think the show was Jubilee. My family would listen to them when we were getting ready for church. Always been my favorite. The Virginian 🇺🇸
The high tenor is Jimmy Fortune. He's the one jogging and the girl hides and jumps on his back. Super nice guy. He came over and talked to be a bit when I met him at a restaurant here in Nashville.
My late father’s favorite group! Being from Virginia so enjoyed going to visit their museum in Staunton, Virginia. I think you need to listen ton”More Than A Name on a Wall”. You and Millie will love it😉
They are all awesome but my favorite is Jimmy Fortune. He is the one singing the high part. Yes, that was the Statlers but can not answer the other questions.
These guys were very popular with both sets of my grandparents. I didn't appreciate them as a kid, too slow! Lol Their harmonies are some of the best. The fashion(especially the wedding gown and tuxedos) are very obviously 80's.
So many, many terrific songs and harmonies! They used to tour with Johnny Cash. Also, one side of one album was dedicated to the Road Hogg, and his Cadillac Cowboys, their alter ego band. They said had to stop appearing that way, as their own parody act was getting more attention during their budding career. Used to laugh and laugh when Dad flipped that record over...
My parents had an LP that had these guys and their wives on it. It’s been so long, I can’t remember what they all looked like. I do remember from th Class of 57, that Harold’s wife’s name was Brenda.
This seems like an odd choice for them. The Statler Brothers were a fun group, with a lot of amazing songs. I've never heard this one, and it's a bit outside of their norm. Flowers On The Wall, Do You Know You Are My Sunshine, Hello Mary Lou (Remake from Ricky Nelson), I'll Go To My Grave, Lovin' You, The Class Of '57, Nothing As Original As You, This Old House and they recorded the most gorgeous version of Amazing Grace that I've ever heard.
Don't know if you'll read this, but when The Statler Brothers retired, I was working 60-75 hours a week in a lab. I quit listening to music. Then Home Free showed up.
Please listen to George Jones and Melba Montgomery singing We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds. It's great traditional country music. Another one is Freddie Harts Easy Loving. Both huge hits at one time.
If you've reacted to either of these songs I have somehow missed them but if not you should check out Elizabeth and More Than a Name on a Wall. They are two more monster hits by the Statlers.
No they're not actors they're the original singers. But as far as who they're dating I couldn't say who they were dating at the time. But I can tell you that the people the men in the in the and the thing are the same people singing. Also two of them are brothers and I think one of them is cousin. I love them as I said one of my other comments.. I think I love all their songs but this one sweeter and sweeter and more than just a name on the wall are my favorites. Last Light but still a favorite from childhood Elvira.
I can't say anything about the partners that was definitely The Statler Brothers. And nothing personal but while they were great singers I would not call them the greatest actors in the world so yeah I would tend to believe that was your real life partners and that was a real wedding.
That was the real Statler Brothers with Jimmy Fortune (not one of the original four). I don't know who the women are and I don't know if that was a real wedding or just a video for this song.😢
This was my wife & my first dance song on our wedding day 35yrs ago, still going strong. We've always loved the Statlers.
This reminds me of my childhood. My parents listened to them when I was little. This is what country music used to be.
This song played as I walked down the aisle with my eyes ONLY seeing him!
37 1/2 years later it’s still our song!❤
These guys lived an hour away here in Virginia. So kind and personable. The most awarded group in Country Music history, I believe.

Thank you for this information!
My only love was written by Jimmy Fortune and released in 1984.
Always have loved the Statler Brothers, they have so many great songs.
I have seen them live 10-15 times and they never disappoint

Lovely reaction to such a beautiful song. The Statler Brothers' harmonizing raised the bar so high that many others couldn't get close.
The Statler Brothers were amazing in person. Their songs "Silver Medals and Sweet Memories" and "Susan When She Tried" are stunning. They did an album of gospel songs that's unforgettable.
Jimmy Fortune wrote several of their songs, my favorite is More Than A Name On A Wall. It’s about the VietNam Memorial with 58,282 names on it.
Love everything they’ve done. My favorites are: Do you know You are my Sunshine, and the Class of 57. And Do You remember These. Bed of Roses.
Do we? Duwy who?
ABSOLUTELY !!!😜
Bed of Roses
Class of 57
Flowers on the Wall

I love all their songs!!! I can't pick a favorite.
My husband and I went to many Statler Brothers concerts. Have you heard "More Than a Name on the Wall"? It will bring tears to your eyes for sure.
My absolute favorite song by them!
amen

Just love Jimmy Fortune’s voice so much ❤️
Love the Statler Brothers!
they're my all time favorite group, i had a greatest hits box set and loved every song on it
Grew up listening to them. Left Gospel singing to go to country. They were the top in their time.
Flowers on the Wall is another great one .

A beautiful song I have heard him sing is Far Side Banks of Jordan. I first heard that by Johnny and June Cash but his version is ethereal.

Jimmy Fortune (lead singer on this one) wrote this song for his brothers wedding and sang it at the reception.
I love this so much. I had never heard this one. Very nice surprise this morning. Their harmonies r so good.

Jimmy Fortune Wrote this song for his brothers wedding.
wrote it the day before and would not let his brother hear it until he sang it at his wedding.
So happy you revisited The Starlet Brothers😊
Do You Know You Are My Sunshine is another big hit. Great reaction, thank you❤
My parents had an LP that had these guys and their wives on it. It’s been so long, I can’t remember what they all looked like. I do remember from th Class of 57, that Harold’s wife’s name was Brenda.
I love this song and your speaking voice is so good
I've always loved the Statler Brothers! Such amazing harmony. Not ashamed to admit i had a crush on Jimmy, the tenor, when I was a kid 😅
Please react to Bed of Rose's by them. Thanks.
You should hear their song “how to be a country star”. It’s great!
10/6/86 - Our Wedding Song.
I’ll go to my grave loving you is a great song
Jimmy Fortune was ask to sing a song at his brothers and he said let me write you one. He did this in a weekend. And it was played at my wedding
You need to check out Jimmy Fortune who was part of the Statler Brothers for many years. I Believe and Elizabeth are two of my favorites.
This seems like an odd choice for them. The Statler Brothers were a fun group, with a lot of amazing songs. I've never heard this one, and it's a bit outside of their norm. When Jimmy came on board after Lew's departure, he wrote some of these ballads. Check out Elizabeth and Too Much on My Heart.
Too much on my heart is a good one by the Statlers
You should try The Gatlin Brothers....She's a Broken Lady...All the Gold..etc..
such a pretty song Jimmy wrote this for his brothers wedding check out Name On A Wall and Do You Remember These
"I Was There"
Next Christmas you have to react to their Christmas song, The Greatest Christmas Present
Don't know if you'll read this, but when The Statler Brothers retired, I was working 60-75 hours a week in a lab. I quit listening to music.
Then Home Free showed up.
More than a Name on the wall= bring tissues tho'
💕 🎶 🎤 😍
Please listen to George Jones and Melba Montgomery singing We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds. It's great traditional country music. Another one is Freddie Harts Easy Loving. Both huge hits at one time.
That was their real wives. But not their original wedding shots.
(They’re a bit old in the video for that to be their real weddings. Lol)
It was written for a wedding
If you've reacted to either of these songs I have somehow missed them but if not you should check out Elizabeth and More Than a Name on a Wall. They are two more monster hits by the Statlers.
You should react to Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord. Jimmy holds a.note that will blow you away 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

The woman with Harold Reid is his actual wife.
The "Wifes" were actors
Jimmy wrote this for his brothers wedding wish I could find out the names of the girls in this video
The Statler's sound changed when Jimmy Fortune joined. I still prefer the old sound.
I can't say anything about the partners that was definitely The Statler Brothers. And nothing personal but while they were great singers I would not call them the greatest actors in the world so yeah I would tend to believe that was your real life partners and that was a real wedding.
The grooms were all the true Statler Bros so I’m assuming the brides were their true wives.
That was the real Statler Brothers with Jimmy Fortune (not one of the original four). I don't know who the women are and I don't know if that was a real wedding or just a video for this song.😢
Would you please react to Brotherly Love. Sung by Earl Thomas Conley and Keith Whitley. Thank you
