Are you ready for short shorts this summer but your legs could use a little help? Dr. Oz shows you the top mistakes you’re making when shaving your legs and what you can do to avoid them.
dry shaving would kill me. I itch and burn just regular shaving
Yea even shaving with soap it burns my skin so I just use shave gel or conditioner
+Sara The Dancer Is shaving with soap common? I've never heard of that.
Kristen Shaw when i was young i could shave with soap but not now!! I cant even use shaving cream it just itches even the sensitive kind, i have to use whatever body wash i can tolerate on my body for it.
+Jay Dee A little bit of Everything I have really sensitive skin too. I break out in an itchy rash when using a lot of soaps and lotions (just on my hands!), but I never had a problem with shaving cream. Oh well. I don't even shave anymore so it doesn't matter. I never knew that people shaved with soap though. Interesting.
Kristen Shaw i break out when i use bath and body works body cream on my hands i can use the lotion but not the cream my body is weird.
You can kick rocks if you REALLY think I'm gonna spend 2 hours trying to shave downwards 😐
right? ive never done that.nope im sticking to my usual up routine.these must be paid actors
NO THE DOCTOR IS CORRECT THERE'S A MEDICAL REASON WHY SHE RECOMMENDED TO SHAVE DOWN INSTEAD OF UP, I CAN GO INTO DETAIL OF WHY BUT THATS TO MUCH DETAILING FOR A COMMENT, I KNOW YOUR DERMATOLOGIST COULD GIVE YOU THOSE DETAILS IF YOU ASK HIM/HER
+marie kayy When I do that I'm still picky... so how else could u get your legs smooth..? If they aren't going to be smooth then I don't even want to bother lol... I've never had any problems. And the only place that ever gets a cut or a knick would usually be the knee or back of the ankle.
+marie kayy does it involve ingrown hairs ?
but she says you wont get a closer shave if u shave downward....like isnt that the whole point of shaving so u can have silky smooth legs why would we shave downward and still be prickly??? seems like a waste of time
Lmao that last girl is definitely an actress, and a bad one
100SmilesAway and she peeked behind at the camera for a second
100SmilesAway She's way too interested and cartoon-y.
100SmilesAway they're ate all actress
100SmilesAway Yeah, I agree.
100SmilesAway If she’s an actress, who knows, they might all be, I mean I’m sure they are
Who tf shaves their legs in the car!!??
Nobody, she's just an actor.
You'd be surprised
HelenaBlack80 you don't?
Kendall jenner do search it.
Me once
*continues shaving upwards because I'm experienced and rarely knick my skin*
Min Yoongi yes👌😂
Yaass army 💜💜
Also you get a closer shave if you shave upwards.
Im pretty sure sideways is best, but thats too time consuming
😂😂😂
Sameeee
4:06 she needs an oscar, almost fooled me there
@Final Fantasy when she said everyone shaves upward
4:25 the nods and the laugh...
*Kill me.*
supreme my gawd
That head tilt 😂😂😂
Farah Khan ...
He tells woman number two not to dry shave, then goes to number three and dry shaves his leg. 😔
ikr
He didn't actually do it
+Winter Joseph shut up. you ruin the funny
Jazzy Smith lol ok
haha.... but no!!!! he did nothing more than imitating the way it should be done.... he wasn't really shaving...
I shave upwards and I've literally never nicked myself/got razor burn/whatever.
same
Shaving down seems just a bit hard. Upward is easier. I can shave everything n be fine that in 5-10 minutes
I use men's racers they get a close shave and cost less
I think we all use men razors. Lol. They are a closer shave then womans
Katie on the GO the I had to go back down and up the areas that I just saved over and over about the men's razor I just had shave once
"shaving cream? where can i get that?" obviously paid actor, as if she's never heard of shaving creme.
they specifically said it isn't shaving cream, it's a fluid called "cream shave" and it's different.
TheWinterDrake That's pretty stupid, but it's still obvious she was acting.
They are all obviously acting.
Not shaving cream
uʍop ǝpısdn cream shave is a shaving lotion it doesn't require water
Screw shaving downward. I've been shaving upwards for many, many years and yea, I get nicks sometimes, but it's never turned into a candidate for amputation!
Yeah I've been literally taught to shave upwards. But I can see how that would be a problem
Yeah I said that too, until I got a kickass infection from shaving upwards and ended up on several courses of antibiotics and scars, cheers, be careful cause you look nice and smooth in the moment but risk ending up scarred :)
you're still alive so there's still a chance for it to happen... be careful.
Yeah and i get a cut. maybe once every few months...nothin crazy. I'm not gonna shave to still be hairy or picky. If so then I would rather noth shave... no point to me.
@@Tennababy wow that is crazy. I shave down and it actually has helped me not get ingrowns. I feel bad for ya. Hopefully it wont happen again.
cut the bs and shave with coconut oil or conditioner
youre life will change trust me
Too funny!! I use conditioner too!
Gabriella Beauty i've used hand lotion for a very long time. You put on a little thicker than you would if you were just gonna use it to my senior legs and I've not had a problem since she's in that.
I really hate auto correct. That was supposed to be "soften your legs".
Rhayne Sthorm thats a good one too honestly
Gabriella Beauty conditioner is better than any shaving cream
Even razor companies display in their commercials to shave upwards. I've seen those kinds of commercials since before I was old enough to shave. Misinformation I suppose.
I was literally JUST thinking that.
Also the design of the razor is not made for a downward shave. It feel awkward to hold it that way and shave. I make more cuts shaving that way, than I do when I upward shave. If this is the way we need to shave then they need to fix the design of the razor first.
Jessica Karsner Even the picture on the stand thing has her shaving upwards.
Not just that, but you don't even cut the hair properly going downwards 😒
Well you actually shouldnt shave upwards. I think it's super weird doing it downwards, it's also alot harder but it's true.
Dr. Oz please tell me how I should be breathing. Idk how
Ashli Hollander 😂😂
You DO NOT breathe in through your mouth or nose. Always breath in through your eyes or ears, and exhale through your eyes or ears. Experienced breathers can also breathe through their hair, and fingernails. Anybody who breathes through the mouth and nose is incorrect. Very dangerous
Lilo X Charlie hahahaha
DON'T INHALE FIRST, YOU SHOULD EXHALE AND THEN YOU INHALE.
HA HA HA OHHHH 😆
This is the most scripted thing I've ever seen
Or just don't shave and wear shorts anyway :D
Maddie Ashton yup that's why I do all of the time!!
I hate hairy legs. I have to shave every day even if it's winter
Maddie Ashton I used to do that haha but you can't tell if I do or don't because of blonde hair
Maddie Ashton But I always feel accomplished when I'm down shaving and I like when I sleep with my legs shaved because they feel so soft next to the blanket and my legs shine with lotion. As much as I hate shaving I will never stop 😂
NiNa_ PreTTy I agree, I like the smooth feeling, but sometimes the razor is dull and your legs feel a little rough or sometimes your legs get cut. It's all a preference, but I shaved last night for the first time in 2 months, wasn't all that worth it. Plus I've been saving a lot of time and water lately XD
wtf I will never shave down who does that
Lola Grace No one! 😂😂
Lola Grace I do... much easier... many do wtf.
I actually get razor burn when I shave downwards
normal people...?
I do, that’s how my mum taught me.
Upward shave get smooth skin
Charlie Beagle true story
Mistakes you make
When in the shower wait 5 minutes then shave your legs
Don’t shave with dry skin
And shave downwards (but like it takes forever so no)
The razing downward is stupid. You'd have to shave every other day
I do anyway
Don't most people shave their legs every to every other day? But I agree, it's a bad idea unless you have very fine hair..
i HAVE to go upward because i have thicker, DARK leg hair and downwards doesnt cut it...it barely does anything
I shave up and still have to shave every day:( If I get goosebumps I have to shave immediately afterwards lol.
I already have to do that if I want my legs smooth. I just gave up because it was too much.
I don't get razor burns or cuts when I shave up sooooo. Bye😂
IKR lol😂
Chloe Greaves same tho
Chloe Greaves Same! I buy a good razor and I've never had problems.
A good and clean razor and I am good to go.
Chloe Greaves same
SHAVING DOWNWARDS U ARE NOT GOING TO GET AS CLOSE OF A SHAVE???? WELL OF COURSE NOT CUZ THE HAIR IS GETTING TRIMMED NOT SHAVED!!! I LIKE SMOOTHNESS NOT POCKIE LEGS!
😂omg lol nice
True I tried it and it only shave a couple of hairs!!!! Like BRUH 😂
+Sara The Dancer jajaja yeah it doesnt work
I shave downwards first then I shave upwards
Even the commercials show shaving upwards though?! Wth😯
+Kiki O'Hara Nah, I like feeling my leg when it's freshly done 😂😂😂😂
+Kiki O'hara I can't tell if your joking or just stupid
I'd rather take a chance on getting nicks and cuts than spend time shaving and still have hair on my legs.
Ikr lol ridiculous
+Atheer_ 2000 fr 😂
luckyy youu
Warm shower or bath, exfoliate, use a good cream and moisturize after. I never have an issue shaving upward but I shave when I have stubble not long hair.
on all of those shaving posters around the room they're shaving upwards?😂
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA IKR. absolutely ridiculous.
mynameischarlotte you got shaving posters?😂
Gerie-Janne Oost reread the comment
The point of summertime with shorts is to get perfect shaved legs with no cuts and burns but if you shave downwards you won't get a clean shave
DOWNWARDS
PHANDOM
+phansfringe09 PHANDOM
DONT CRY
I thought you shave in the opposite direction the hair grows ???
Avacad0 0 that can cause ingrown hairs
what's the point on shaving at all if you need to shave downwards?! I might aswell just wax because it won't feel smoot If we do that
but... if you shave downward you'll feel pricks
After u shave downwards you can shave upwards and get the left over small hair
xMerlin xxx that’s too much work lmao
@@xmerlinxxx8482 yeah but that would take like an 1hour doing both legs
But going against the grain gets a closer shave, if you shave downwards, you'll be prickly by the end of the day.
Purple Melody (ColumineMiette) I know it doesn't matter. and it doesn't compare with how he said guys can't shave that way.. well duh! the hair is a lot more coarse!
Purple Melody (ColumineMiette) absolutely YES!!!!
I’d be prickly right after shaving lol
Exactly. Hence why men have that 5 o'clock shadow
The multi-pass method allows you to shave against the grain on the 3rd pass. It isn't recommended to ever shave against the grain if you have reactive skin. My skin inflames over minor irritation so I had to learn how to shave like I'm performing surgery to prevent my face from being razor burned.
I shave everyday and I shave up wards and have never had a problem. I like my legs smooth 100% of the time, so shaving downwards seems pointless and a waste of time since ur legs are still going to be prickly afterwards
I only shave downwards at the beginning of shorts season when I have long hair from all winter long, but I always go against the grain once it's back to just getting stubble. A good trick I also use is to use conditioner as my shaving cream because it softens my legs, the hair, and the razor glides a whole lot easier.
I've never thought of that.. but does the conditioner damage your body in some way ? (When they go inside the pores of the legs?)
@@bluewhale2600 no, i always use a bar soap and a pump or two of shampoo on a loofah as my “shaving cream” lol, works like magic
Shave up then go back over it shaving down, close shave and puts the hair grain back in the right position to grow
Tried shaving downwards. Literally nothing happened to my hair.
The third girl sounded and acted like a actor who can't act.
Natai KO noticed how she turned to the camera after she spoke? Hilarious!
POPPYSILK it was so obvious
no offense but the last lady is such an actor
this was only 3 mistakes??
Why would anyone ever shave dry !!!! I never herd this ever
Ik, a girl in summer camp (I was 13) and she dry shaved with lotion. 😖
Jennifer Aguirre I have probably done it once or twice before,Only because I was in a hurry and I hate having hairy legs if I go somewheres. Thats the only situation where I could see people dry shaving, but if people do that as their regular routine thats weird as hell 😂😂
I tried it when I was younger. With lotion. I'll never do it again. The razor burn is sooo bad, and I get blood spots everywhere. It's a mistake most women try, but learn from.
When I was in my early 20s a friend of mine told me about this “shaving cream” I think it was called coochy? Anyway, it was $$ for shaving cream but I bought some anyway. I was reading the bottle and it said it could also be used as hair conditioner. From then on I just bought a cheap off brand bottle of hair conditioner instead of shaving cream and it has worked amazingly for the past 20 years.
I have shaved for about 5 years now an have not cut or nicked myself before.
OH GOD!!! That second one!!!!! I did not need to see that dr. Oz! And then he touches it?!?! 😫😫😫😫
I thought he was going to eat it..
wth was that?? does that happens without us seing it? like under the skin?
I'm watching this with captions and the sound off, and I'm dying. 😂 that gazebo fisherman
I shave upward all the time!! And I don't get nicks or burns
This is pretty bad. It was so scripted in a bad way. And the tips were not helpful.
So, if I have never met someone who's gotten an infection from shaving, what is the actual likelihood that I do? This is like leg shaving propaganda so that everyone becomes afraid of it.
Yeah, the whole MRSA thing is ridiculous. I'm sure it's happened, but c'mon now...you have to either have a nasty, dirty old razor or don't have the common sense to clean and care for a cut. Maybe both.
the only time i ever shaved i cut myself and it didnt get infected?? but it left a scar??
Another thing...I have a problem with the first "tip" or advice, there is no mention of cleansing prior to a shave. Ewww!
Orion Culver I shave daily and have a scar on my ankle but that's it. No infection either
I shaved my chin like 6 years ago, and it scraped off skin up to 3 inches off my chin, and I still never got infected. The scar disappeared too.
But if you shave in the direction of the hair growth doesn't that leave a tiny bit of hair behind?
Small cut turn into a big one. Really.
+Christina B. i thought it was a gunshot wound.....haha
+Pavan ashking probably was
MissGamingThing //MGT haha .. yeah~
No, a small cut can turn into MRSA/Staff infection if exposed to bacteria.(commonly found on cheer/wrestling mats, gym equipment, leather seats, and anywhere that sweat accumulates) Which if left untreated, can kill you.
"Against the grain kid, always shave against the grain" -Neagan 🏓
I seriously just shaved my legs an hour ago and it's already prickly
I used to get raiser burns, but then I started putting lotion on my legs afterwards. Just enough that it covered the legs, where you don’t see white lotion on your white legs (though it looks tan compared to the lotion). I started doing this and now my legs never get red marks and never get itchy. It’s just a simple way to moisturize your skin after shaving upwards.
#shavinghack
haven't in over 4 years. no regrets
This made me laugh. I haven't nicked myself shaving since I was 11. Never had an ingrown hair or anything. And I've used conditioner for years; makes my skin so much smooth. All with an upward shave (can't stand stubble).
At 4:29 it says shave downwards and in the picture the girl is shaving upwards 😅😂
Whenever I shave downwards it just goes over the hair and doesn’t shave it off at all :/
The same with me. Maybe we need to buy better razors.
Where I live it's very cold most of the year (one day it was -50 with a chill) so I only wear shorts and shave in the summer
My biggest mistake when shaving my legs is not shaving like ever
This is all based on the fact that all women should shave...
I mean I shave, but like I don't think anyone should HAVE to.
If I'm gonna shave at all, I'm gonna do it my way, thanks very much, haha.
GracieHaysMusic the most ignorant comment I've ever seen. Don't click the video if you don't want tips on how to shave. Lmao
I’m glad I’m not the only one
Gracie Hays Music women don't have to. some of us just like it, it makes me feel cleaner I guess.. probably not true at all lol, but I like how smooth my legs feel and how shiny they are.
then why come here
feminist spotted
i shave downwards, then upwards to get that final clean shave. it’s better & safer. y’all should try it.
Idc I'm shaving upward
😂😂 same
+Gwen EUPHORIC I know. fuq it I'm gonna continue shaving upward and ain't no one gonna stop me
I tried shaving downward... I missed so much
I started shaving downwards (the biggest mistake of my life) it hurt like hell and I kept cutting myself it stung so much!
Same
Omg same
"You got to shave downward" - Hell to the no, and I don't care what anyone says 💅🏾
I actually shave downwards and then upwards when I feel some hair left. Honestly, ever since then I havent had a single cut or razor burn or even bumps on my skin.
I've never shaved downwards. I don't get cuts or razor burn
The real mistake is your use of "Your" instead of "You're".
***** Uh, no... Because it should be "4 Mistakes YOU'RE Making Shaving YOUR Legs". (:
***** And I was talking about the "your" after mistakes. lmao
It's "your" it makes much more since then saying "you are",, "your" is plural and "you're" is singular
Yes.....
+JadeTheSquid I know your not but I'm correcting you to
Or you can light shave upwards.I don't shave but I think it prevents cuts/whatever you call them.
Omg
That was my mistake
I shaved upwards
Oh freak
I m gon to do that downward
Thnk u 4 ur tips n guides💚💛💜❤
I worth it
When I shave downward my hairs don't get shaved lol
On the picture the lady is shaving upward
Man, Dr Oz has the best workshops to thoroughly explain things to us audience.
You can dry shave, but you need to use a electric razor made for that. Such as dry/wet electric razor :)
I never shave because I like being Beowulf lol
You're* Making, not Your Making
It did say it but the title is wrong
use a safety razor*, shaving soap and brush, and follow up with an alum block and after-shave balm. with a safety razor it is much safer to go against the grain, just use light pressure and skim don't scrape.
*or any variety of single edge razors, a straight razor, GEM, injector, gillette guard, shavette, etc etc
Even the expert shaves up. Nobody shaves down🤣🤣🤣
So then how do you get a close shave?
Shaving upwards may cause razor burns or scars downwards prevents that from happening . but shaving upwards is a closer shave
Dana AL that's what i mean. If u can't shave up then how do u get close
aintnobodygottimefadat probably have to do it multiple times until you get all the hair off by doing the downward shave
Ain't nobody got time for that!
Anyolina LUV oh well i smokeband eat cheese burgers and sugar
how about not shaving at all
the irony of all the images of women shaving in the background shaving upwards
What I do is shave downwards because thats the direction the hair grows and you don't hurt your skin, then shave up for smooth legs and then shave down again so the hair can grow the way its supposed to. No se ustedes pero así me enseño mi mama.
"No woman can shave her legs without messing up or cutting herself" umm I'm 12 and I just shaved my legs for the first time today and didn't mess up or cut myself at all...
Clouded Sunshine because that was your first time 🤦♀️
You shaved once, child. Sit down. 💺
Omg, I don't do any of these. Anyone who thinks its OK to do ANY of this obviously never had someone to guide them on their first shave....(I would say they have mental problems but thats mean) :) BUT: Shaving upward is THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT. Go against the grain for a closer shave. Shaving downward will probably not get all the hair, and you'll still be prickily.
I prefer to remove legs hair using traditional methods like sugar and lemon...this removes it from its roots😍
I'm a 21 yr old boy yes I love to shave my legs as well but going upwards gets all the hair at all once and shaving is like my favorite hobby.
Actors. The last girl needs to settle down in the acting. She was paid.
Gina Marisa looool
Well she was haha
I don't use shaving cream because it doesn't get a close shave :/ I usually dry shave and nothing has ever happened
Brenda Lopez If I haven't shaved in a while I will use it for the beginning than wash it off and dry shave
army hi
Try cheap conditioner from the dollar store. That's what I do. Nothing goes wrong and it's a close shave.
Hello A.R.M.Y!
“Can you imagine if a guy did that?” I don’t do anything based on whether or not men do it 🤷🏾♀️
I shave downwards and I use conditioner. Works fine.
What about that green leg ? These were only three stated mistakes.
You're supposed to shave and wax against the grain because it's what actually gets rid of the hair
I shave upwards, I've done it for years. I've never ever cut myself or had razor burn.
The best way to go ahead would be to get in a hot/warm shower... Scrub.. Rinse and then condition... Then shave downward.. This makes it waaay easier and less prone to nicks and cuts. And if you've scrubbed well, your ingrown hairs might be loosened... And its cleaner. No infections if any!
And here I was thinking that all of this was common knowledge... well the more you know.
The one clip I've seen where he doesn't hold the woman's hand like a creep.
Hahahaha ikr
What that woman meant by you're not going to get as close of a shave is that most hair will lay flat against your skin and not get cut at all. I'm 46. I use men's razors and I shave upwards. I almost never knick myself anymore. Knicked my knees or ankles exactly 3 times last summer. I use moisturing soap or shaving cream and replace my razors as soon as they begin to dull. Dull razors are more likely to let you knick your ankles or knees because you'll put more pressure on the head of the razor to make it work. Keep the strokes light and short. Work in small patches and rinse your razor often. My hair is extemely thick on my legs and shaving downward does not work at all.
The one lady thats just isnt clapping in the beginning ...mood 😂
Um nobody shaves down and never will so
I had a friend who did actually, but yeah I'll stick with upward shaving haha.
Anyone else find this extremely sexist
*When you realize you are supposed to shave down but the pictures on the stand say otherwise.* 🧐
Shaving upward taking long and it's not deep as much i needit , i can see the hair grow in the same day
Key words: you won't get as close a shave if you shave down.. thanks for the crappy tip. I never get cuts or razor burn. I shave with hot hot water at the end of my shower.. no cream. Just running water over and I get a close shave. For even better shave I exfoliate my shin before.
shaving downwards does nothing dafuq.....
