Ok but Copilot is available on any PC Windows 10 or 11. iPad has Thousands of Premium apps available, Surface Snapdragon has incompatibility issues due to Snapdragon (not x86). I am not an Apple fan , I use mostly PC but the advantage I keep seeing people touting is that Copilot AI can learn your browsing and searching behaviors but I do not see how ALL windows apps are going to be compatible with Snapdragon ARM CPU. From an all time Windows fan here - I'm not buying it. Not a full blown computer yet, just looks like one on the SURFACE
The Microsoft surface is the most garbage product I‘ve ever worked with. Low compute power, thermal throttling and the optional keyboard is utterly trash. And a Microsoft product, based on ARM, without the proper software support, will fail the same way as Windows RT did. And most importantly, Microsoft’s pencil has an unergonomic design - probably designed by a toddler. I don’t know why Microsoft is advertising the NPU as an industrial leashing design. The snapdragon is already outdated and won’t be able to compete with Strix Point and Lunar Lake. The surface isn’t even cheaper. To get the OLED screen you need to choose the SD Elite Version for 1499$. That’s exactly the same price the iPad Pro 13“ with 512GB has. The iPad, especially the new ones, are way more handy in terms of mobility. The surface is just a heavy trash can.
If you want a better experience that is light, portable with better speakers, better battery life, and mostly for media consumption such as Netflix, RUclips, Sketching and if you currently own an iPhone = M4 iPad Pro. For everything else: Surface Laptop.
I don't really think changing processor states is fair tbh. At most changing the power options, like Balanced, Power Saving etc. Virtually noone is going to be changing their power states. But regardless, really looking forward to more reviews on these laptops, especially the Snapdragon X Plus laptops. I don't really need the biggest performance, so if they offer tremendous battery life (even when compared with the Elite) I might be sold, though, really considering a Macbook at this point, maybe even an older one like the M1 just for day to day work.
Apple will only give the iPads more functionality when their marketshare is in danger. Hopefully, that happens with the Snapdragon tablets. For the time being, iPads will remain dumbed down devices.
Must admit wasn't expecting the GPU to be in par with each other the single core score was totally expected with a 4.4GHz clock speed but the Multicore fairly close all things considered. Still from what i have seen the Snapdragon power is not much better than a Ryzen equivalent. Working wise the OLED will win hands down since the screen uses 80% of all the power so having a more efficient screen will hands down in efficiency. However for a corporate setting, i.e like mine where they use lab instruments windows is infinitely better there is zero way lavatory equipment software and drivers is getting through Apples testing.
After a decade of iPad as a result of the recent WWDC announcement that the iPad OS is not really improving in terms of file management, pro apps like Lightroom, Davinci and others not being compatible I have just orders a Windows Surface Pro 11 device. This is to replace my pre M1 iPad 12,9 Pro. I was willing to loose the wonderful 1,000 nit screen, which is important to me, because I need the basics and I held off until the disappointing announcement of what improvements were being made to iPadOS at WWDC. What I would say to Apple and uncle Tim is that you have been too clever protecting MacBook sales but people like me buy both. In my case you have lost a sale and this type of journey was what moved me away from Windows to Apple and now I am seeing a return to Windows coming.
You actually just listed some of the best apps on iPad in terms of desktop parity. Photoshop Lightroom Davinci Davinci even looks and feels like a desktop app running on iPad, which feels weird but cool. I think you'll be happy with the Surface anyway, I've got the X Plus model to replace my Pro 11 (still keeping my M2 iPad Pro 12.9 I think as I like it for video editing on the touch screen)
Why would you show a previous version of iPad Pro for most of the video while calling it M4? There are a few short clips of the M4 model as close ups on its own but any clip with both devices side by side is showing a current Surface next to a previous iPad, lack of a function row on the Magic Keyboard, the contrast of the screen, and the thickness/color of the iPad from the side are dead giveaways.
As someone who has both, i think Windows really needs to get their touch first UX sorted, and developers make more of their apps like on iPad. Affinity especially! Affinity designer on my surface is frustrating, can’t double tap for undo, can’t rotate canvas. No reason for this not being an option. Most my work is heavy, and I really can’t have 50 things open in the background. The focused nature of the iPad is great! The apps I use on it like Affinity suite, Callipeg, Procreate, Nomad sculpt, Luma fusion all are great! Blender on my surface is a waste of time. You need a bunch of things hanging off it to work. iPad won’t have me replace my computer, but the computer can’t replace my iPad. I don’t need a laptop anymore though. For the same price I got a lot more in a Mac Studio. 13” is way too small for UI heavy desktop apps. Especially for touch input.
I think it is begging of new era in competition between "A" and "M"; both will have similar hardware and now software will be more important to users - they will decide ;) Company which will less listening us about our needs will take second place :( no matter how magic calculator will be :)
I think I will wait to see what it will be with intel's lunar lake. For the moment the copilot PC's seem to be a mess. Inconsistent battery life reported by multiple youtubers and users. Plus various grievances regarding the software... might as well go for a MAC. There the batterie life , speakers quality and other things are well established and it does feel like a gigantic lottery.
The biggest differance between them is the OS. Windows ARM is pretty much identical to the standard x86 version for desktops. Ipad OS is still the henderance that is holding Ipads because Apple refuses to give them the option to ether run Mac OS or have desktop mode like Samsung Dex. iPad OS is pretty much the same toy OS from the beggining of the device , you cant do much with it. The M versions of iPads doesnt destingush themselvs as better then the standard chips Apple used to put in them because the OS cant fully utilize them. The only places its better is few more demanding games and the couple of "pro" apps Apple just ported into them. This is the main reason why we cant compare them. The Surface pro is a netbook in a tablet form while the ipad is pure tablet. It goes to show you how much of a limiting factor is the OS in terms capabilities for the device.
These 2 tablets are seriously taken for backpacks, messenger bags, briefcases, and tote bags, so do you think can fit in a tech-friendly laptop sleeve?
Didn’t watch this yet but you just can’t compare the two devices. The windows device has a full os and the iPad is using a mobile OS. Not the same even if the hardware is similar.
Honestly, if Apple don’t wanna install macOS in their iPads because they’re afraid of having their mac sales plummeting, then why don’t they just drop the price of their MacBook Air’s and sell them as entry-level low tier macs? Then sell their macPads as mid-tier macs and MacBook Pro’s as high level top tier premium macs? I’m pretty sure everyone is gonna love it and it’s finally gonna justify the whole “M-series chip as powerful as a MBA in an iPad”
Take a good look apple 😀 make the ipad an actual conputer or lose people. They deserve this im so happy for competition they woulent change unless they have to.
I dont think comparing the base iPad Pro to the X-plus is a fair comparison. The iPad Pro comes with the OLED display, a year newer chip, etc. The X-Elite would be a more even comparison because its the best chip Qualcomm has against the best chip Apple has, instead of going base vs best. I'm testing out my Surface Pro 11 with the X-elite right now to make sure the battery life lives up to the claims in my workload. I like to leave everything around the 55% brightness, 120hz on, and just do what I usually do and see where this thing ends up. So far it is going at the same pace as my M3 Pro MacBook pro for battery drain, which is a very good sign.

IPad is great... Doing all this with that slim chassy and no single fan.. That's impressive..
Unfortunately not so useful.
Maybe Apple could just put a touchscreen on M4 MacBook Air. Many Windows laptops have touchscreens.
Photoshop
Lightroom
Davinci
Davinci even looks and feels like a desktop app running on iPad, which feels weird but cool.
Benchmark means nothing. Surface Pro is a real pro device. IPad Pro is just a pro device with entertainment operating system
This comparison doesn't make much sense. M4 will walk over anything when it launches in MacBooks.
Can you talk more about Steam? That is a significant addition Surface has over iPad vice versa the Apple app store against Microsoft store
I’m hoping to see the iPads supporting MacOS in the future, it’s sad to see so much power going to waste cuz of software limitations…
50% dislikes? Damn, Apple fans not happy about this.
iPad great hardware OK software. Is nice to play but it has not reach its potential. Microsoft wins in the software and comes close to the hardware.
I will replace my iPad, and my MacBook Pro. I have had the MacBook Pro since 2017. Excited to get a new one, when I can afford
Did you just draw a skinny man with black Ink and AI transformed it into a black man?
Curious could you not just have best of both worlds by getting the surface and an iPhone?
Take a good look apple 😀 make the ipad an actual conputer or lose people. They deserve this im so happy for competition they woulent change unless they have to.
Respected Gigs pleas let me know can we install mt4 and run on surface pro 11 snapdragon
“Baseline” is irrelevant. I want to know how they compare for the same cost.
That’s not even the m4 iPad Pro lol. If yours gonna do this type of video at least have both
The issue is price as you need to compare i5 with i9 its just price more money more performance compare it with base ipad not pro😊
The iPad Pro M4 base model only has 8gb of RAM.
apples and oranges..... ios vs windows..... no comparison
I don't think the iPad Pro base model has 16gb of ram
This video is sponsored by Apple Company.😅
Amazing to see competition with Apple, while Intel dies.
The base iPad does not come with 16gb ram
I waited for Weeks for this Video
Glad you like it
Me too
Pixel density on Surface Pro is 266ppi, not 251. So its higher on surface
I cant remember which video i commented on.... Lol
But they are about the same price so it is a fair comparison from a buyer's perspective.
can you give us an update
@@gregsvoice5628 A 13 inch iPad Pro with 512GB of storage is $1499. The exact same price as an X-elite with the same storage but you get 16GB of RAM, a much better deal for the price.
So this comparison isn’t the same price wise.
@@gregsvoice5628
*Apple M4*
iPad Pro 13 inch with keyboard 16GB 1TB: $2,248.00
iPad Pro 13 inch with keyboard 8GB 512GB: $1,848.00
iPad Pro 13 inch with keyboard 8GB 256GB: $1,648.00
*Snapdragon X Elite*
Surface Pro with Keyboard 16GB 1TB: $1,839.98
Surface Pro with keyboard 16GB 512GB: $1,639.98
Apple's storage upgrades are really expensive, same for the keyboard that's really overpriced.
There is a $500 jump from the X Plus Surface to the X Elite Surface, also because you go from an LCD to an OLED
Prices without a keyboard are posted in the comment before mine.
@@ttrotary7 But the processor and RAM is the same in that iPad pro as the one that costs the same as the base SP11. If you are just testing performance then it makes no difference.
iPads are toys , Surface is a real computer
I can tell you this - no one buys a surface pro or a ipad pro for "pro" work
Geekbench is famously biased towards Apple.
Just show us proof about that.. because if you only compare with your favorite brand and you lose always..? There are plently of desktop Intel and AMD chip what beat Apple in geekbench (at least in multi score), so than they are also biased for Intel and AMD too..?
I think microsoft needs to create a Dedicated UI just for Surface pro because it just doesn't look good on the tablet. I think only then it can fit into a Tablet eco-system.
Ai ai lol. This copilot works on 15y old laptops.
iPad Pro is also $200 more expensive at the moment
apple shouldve released a macbook with the m4 first not an ipad in my opinion
I will be buying the MacBook air M3 soon 😊
MacBook pro m3
Hi Matt, I find your channel very informative. Thank you for all your efforts in researching and talking about everything I want to know about Apple devices. Personally I am hoping to upgrade to the amazing Apple iPad Pro M4 during the course of this year, just waiting and hoping that the Rand Dollar Exchange rate improves so that it may become more affordable for us South Africans :)
M4 is veru powerful but ipados in limitations just weit for macbook air😊
The iPad is too powerful for what it can do
i love ipad but it lacks software
none of changing vs none of changing
7:58 the soc is m4 not m3 wtf is this channel
I want to get a new MacBook Pro this year!
Poor old Intel. Going the way of Nokia
I would like a Mac book as a gift.
🍎 🍏 iPad Pro all day everyday 🍏 🍎
Great and insightful review as always. I'm hoping to get an iPad pro this year
Good choice!
ipad is far more powerful
Apple biased review. 👎
Again its x elite not elite x
Apple all the way everyday
REMEMBER - Set the Surface to "High Performance" mode before running benchmarks.
😂
We need a battery drain test
Surface is cheaper
"Steve Jobs, born Steven Paul Jobs on February 24, 1955 ...". Yeah, the Copilot is great 🙃
I mean, the facts are correct
Is it really 13.8 inch display on the Surface pro@2:51?
no, he made a mistake, it's 13"
Snapdragon X ❤❤
I was so happy to see that Apple has removed the notch, only to realize it wasn't a mac.
Comparison hir
Linux please, will you try linux?
