  • Right when I got this this house CODE ENFORCMENT pulled up! He told me that he was going to give them a ticket but since I was about to mow it he would let them slide. A Nieghbor came out while I was taking some before pics and gave me the background on the house! She was just about to start mowing a little stripe by her mailbox so it wouldn't be so overgrown and scary for her to get the mail. So looks like I pulled up just in time... let me know what you think of the transformation and at the end of the video the code enforcement guy gave me a surprise. to make next week finding a yard a little easier.. Love y'all!!

@@libbysevicke-jones3160definitely not (as in I absolutely agree with you). Most of the time you see these types of yards, I find it’s almost always due to lack of physical capability to manage it and/or lack of ability to afford the proper tools. Push lawn mowers are very heavy labor on medium to large properties. Not gonna lie, would love to see our tax dollars go into a program that helps people with these things. It would create jobs and help people in need without crushing them in more debt and it great way to actually see tax dollars in use directly in the communities. What Al is doing may seem to him like he’s just doing a kind thing, but man, he’s giving these people a whole lot of peace and safety for these homeowners and communities.

Amazing difference! The lady said that a brother and sister owned it and didn’t want to sell it because she was attached to the things inside. She could sell it and put the things in storage because that roof and the windows wide open where animals can get in; there might not be much left of the things inside at this point.

I’m planning on doing a bit of landscaping in my back garden. Making pathways and flower beds using cardboard to stifle weeds and grass, and planting fruit trees (I’ll get my sin to dig the holes 😂) I’ve got one tree already. Plus a dwarf apple tree for a big container.

I am handicapped, and my neighbors call the code person, for grass and I had just gotten over covid in winter months at a property I was trying to rehab and move to Jan. Feb. and March.
I got on my feet and found that the mower had a broken throttle cable. So, April 2, I went to get part at a local lawn mower shop. Lawn care does not start till, April 1-15. I repaired and lawn was cut. So, about 5-17-23, I was hit with a summons for grass not being cut. I was not even given the opportunity to be heard in court by prosecutor, until I was not going to take his offer. Unfortunate for me the did not give me or let me see or no ne testified to dates and times. So, I was charged $100.00 which I am appealing. It is a crime what they do to older people, I am going to be 74, next month!
Additionally, I was treated for a GI prob, that needed surgery!

The situation with the siblings sounds as messy as the one with the yard. It's never good when two people are in charge of something without anyone having final say. I don't know for certain how the siblings got into this mess, but it's often the result of inheriting property. A person doesn't use their head, and they decide it will be nice for two people to share a house or to each have a vote on how something will be done. It's a terrible idea. And never do something like that in your will. Always have one clearly designated person making decisions or executing your instructions. It avoids so many headaches.

Love seeing these videos. I worked at an in home caregiving agency for years. Now working in the office doing sales and marketing. Seen a bit too many homes similar to this. Elderly have a hard time maintaining their properties due to disabilities. From the dementia clients whose family lives near by but hurts their heart to go visit their loved on and not be recognized. To the elderly with no children or family near by. I know this kind of work means the world to others. When medical bills get to be too much, or one’s memory is gone getting someone to landscape and maintain the yard means everything. But not know how to make the connections themselves anymore causes many homes to not get taken care of anymore.

I keep looking at his equipment. I was born in 1952, but most of my memories are from '60s. My parents didn't believe in gas powered lawn mowers. So we had a push mower, a push lawn edger, clippers, etc.
I enjoyed it anyhow, and I never did get into babysitting. Just offered to do lawns. Sometimes the grass was too overgrown on the sidewalk and the edger didn't work; I'd get one of Mom's sharp knives to edge it. 😂😂
Then I had a brainstorm and started calling real estate companies when houses were for sale and unkept!

Thanks Al for helping people. Wish we had ppl like this in eastern South😢Dakota! Just Saturday we got served papers claiming our yard was a nuisance! Irony was the city board early in summer interfered with our rights to fence & maintain our hedge! Then during a Heat advisory sics their city attorney on us for not having a fence completed & having debris (partially cut down hedge)! Problem is I’ve got mobility problems and a medical condition that limits my abilities in heat or cold weather. So my hubby only had 4 days to work on our own property once the city backed down on their claim of ownership of our hedge ! Hubby works long shifts at manufacturing firm as a welder & the person claiming “nuisance” screamed at him for making noise with his chainsaw & interfering with her pub business across the street on Saturday!
