- Lets take a look at the Grand Canyon Railway. Running daily between Williams and the south rim of the Grand Canyon, the GCRY is one of the most popular tourist attractions next to the grand canyon itself. On select weekends the Grand Canyon Railway brings out its most famous steam locomotive #4960, a 2-8-2 Mikado type locomotive. Sporting a lovely 6 chime whistle, this locomotive makes no hesitation in letting the people if Williams, AZ know its awake and ready to work. Along with the steam locomotive, there a couple of shots of the now common F40PH's.
Por rieles y durmientes centenarios, van galopando los trenes de antaño, que vivirán en mi, mas allá de los tiempos. Y las distancias, en los recuerdos de mi temprana Infancia... Hernan navarrete rojas. Hijo de los rieles. Un humilde samurai. Cronista. Poeta... Artista fotógrafo. Productor cultural. El poeta de las glorias de chile.
So Steam Trains Aren't Dead, SO THERE STILL ALIVE, YAYYYY
Agreed

Why do they have a separate HEP generator car if the F40PH's are already have HEP capability?
Stopped by Williams back in October, though not for the railway unfortunately. I was able to explore the grounds of both the Williams station and the Grand Canyon Village depot though. (Also caught the train- diesels of course- coming in to the station at night) I wish the railroad had continued with its original purpose of recreating a fully steam powered line to the Rim of the canyon. Now they have only two operating steamers and they rarely run at all. Oh well.
Nice catches!
P.S. Does anyone know what they're working on in the Village station yard? I heard they're putting in a new bus terminal but I'm not sure. The railway actually has another station south of the main depot, (I believe it was meant for the proposed service to the Grand Canyon airport) but it is rarely used.
I Love This Channel So Much
Glad you like it. And steam trains are still very much alive. At least 2-7 live steam locomotives in each state.
Oh Cool
hey man! theres a chance i might be able to see 4960 this april, and im not to familiar woth the area. could you tell me what spots these are?
4960 is a 2-8-2
Jack Hellesoe fixed it, thanks!
There are a lot of 2-8-2 engines even in eastern America
The whistle sounds like it's 3751
I'm planning on chasing 4960 myself in July. It's gonna be my first time chasing a train. Would you mind providing some tips on what I should do?
Be prepared for a lot of slow drivers, thats really the only tip i can give, LOL
@@CaliforniaRailProductions Thanks! I'll be sure to keep that in mind!
