    Try Lanoloc or any thing with lanolin I have found it penetrate better than anything else. Also it dissolves rust almost instantly. A test we did was use it against a well known brand penetrative spray left for 20 minutes found the lanolin had gone in nearly 3 time farther. PLUS little heat first and tap with a hammer, cheers.

    If there is enough of the old bolt showing you can possibly weld a new bolt onto it and after a good soaking with penetrating oil you should be able to unscrew the broken bolt

    • @jack_out_the_back
      @jack_out_the_back  Год назад +1

      That was my first thought! But I didn't want to leave the snapped easy-out there, so I cut it down with the angle grinder.
      I do have a job or two to do at those yards with the welder, and I think the heat could help move the bolt out as well.

    Broken bolt ,get a flat face punch and use it to loosen the broken bolt ,center punch the broken bolt and only then drill it using large drill bit as close to the thread as possible inserter ease out be gentle with it . When removing a bolt hit it with a hammer once or twice before trying to remove it be gentle with it , if it moves a little tighten it up a bit do this as often as necessary .

    Might be worth investing in a waist harness when you are up the poles and towers, you would be amazed by the number of men who die or severly injured from ladders or heights. Old electrician trick a waist belt with a wrap around harness. A bit of wind out of know where or you put your foot in the wrong place your s😢uffed. Also you can work 2 handed with confidence, only around $100

    One thing I've successfully done with corroded thread inserts in concrete was to re grind a masonry bit as best as I could with a profile more suitable for metal drilling and drill out the entire insert. Replaced them with a Dynasert that I epoxied in. I believe Kango actually make a drill bit like what I described, a hybrid between a masonry bit and metal bit.

    Your plane camera (video) looks like a video game well done.As far as your tank float cover I would drill 3 new holes put in some short Masonry & Concrete Anchors.More is better.

    awesome stuff and top videos as usual mate!! everyone has there own methods but yea that bolt id of used the old arc a thick washer and Nut 👍 heat is generally the best way to break away frozen/ rusted threads

    • @joelan93mtfworkshop89
      @joelan93mtfworkshop89 Год назад

      easy outs are generally a one shot deal and when they dont work they just make the job worse and harder to repair.. there's always other option to repair that.. could just ad flat bar to both sides of the float cover making more like a saddle over the concrete and just use the one bolt so the cattle can't slide it abound if rubbing it up

    • @jack_out_the_back
      @jack_out_the_back  Год назад

      Yeah I've got to take the arc and Genny down there for another job, so I recon I can give that a crack, take the masonry bits and a whole lot of alternatives!
      My go to for this in other situations has always been heat, by way of arc 🤠

    Jack you need to get a left hand drill set, way better than easyouts, with the left rotation not only getting the broken stud hot it's also winding it out, I'm a 35 year mechanic and left hand drills are worth there weight in gold.
    Cheers Geoff

    • @jack_out_the_back

    If you’ve got a mobile welder, weld a fresh nut on. The heat will free the tread and the nut will enable you to withdraw it..

  • @geoffhiggins1886
    @geoffhiggins1886 Год назад

    No the drill bit it's self, you can buy drills that drill in a left screw, just use your current drill in what would be backwards, drill as would normally as it drills in 9 times out of 10 the broken stud will just wind itself out

    • @jack_out_the_back
      @jack_out_the_back  Год назад

      Ah yes, the video is a bit quick, but I snapped a LH drill bit in there (about 5.5mm) probably didn't get enough heat into it.
      I suspect the snapped bolt was out in with an impact driver (rattle gun 1/2") and snapped.

    The Leatherman pliers serve as a total replacement for that cabinet key if you ever forget it. Just open them slightly and put the jaw tips in the keyway and turn like the key. Mars the keyway a tiny bit but has never caused issues. Is that trough cover to prevent the cattle from messing with the float? And why do you protect the trees in that yard? Clearly I don't know anything about cattle. I'm enjoying the videos, cheers!

    • @jack_out_the_back
      @jack_out_the_back  Год назад +2

      Ah yes! But the Gerber (centre drive) and Letterman (OHT) I use to carry, have the square tip. Not the fine point.
      Yeah the cover is to stop cattle from playing with the float, or potentially breaking the riser and dumping the whole tank.
      Those panels aren't actually to protect the trees, but they do give you a bit of a look at what will grow when protected from the cattle.
      When it comes to working cattle the panels will make more sense 👍

    Yes Easyouts are generally very unsuccessful.
    I think what I'd do is likely what you have already done..
    Grind the easyout down so it's not sharp and install 2 new chem set inserts..
    Bolt it in place with NEW stainless bolts with neverseize grease.
    Just saying..

    • @jack_out_the_back

    i like the star link on the 4 WD how many Starlink systems do you have , and what about Camels do you hunt or Trap them ? as i would think they do lots of damage at troughs etc ??

    • @jack_out_the_back
      @jack_out_the_back  Год назад +1

      I have three, two are mobile.
      The camels do damage to yards and water infrastructure.
      I trap some, but it depends on the yard design and what I want to achieve.
      Often I am culling, I haven't hunted camel for a long time.
