Rap I find embarrassing and too "try-hard" most of the time (everything revolves around big booty and being "gangster"...), while Pop music is just plain boring nearly all of the time. Exceptions do exist of cause.

I wouldn't say Kollegah is bad, it's boasting show off rap, but lyrically I can't think of a Rapper who has lyrics like him.

exspecaliy the album Soziopath. its kinda sad with a mix of horror/raw beats in it.
and my personal rec: nord nord muzikk. They are not well knowed but a handfull of songs are, at least for me, wunderbar. They are like really horrorrap stuff, just not sad, straight horror.

By the way - the 3rd song, Chöre, means choirs. The ch is pronounced like a k in English. And the scenes in the MV are actually from a German movie. It's called "Welcome at the Hartmann family"

You should listen to the top song of 1992 which was made by a German band called SNAP! named Rhythm is a dancer. Then to Mr. Vain by the German band Culture Beat. Then to the German Band Masterboy and the Song "Feel the heat of the night", "I got to give it up" and "Is this the love". You don't have any "Culture" anymore. Most of these videos were Black, African-American Hip Hop songs, simply sung in German. This wasn't "German music". It's pathetic what has happened to Europe. Culture have been almost completely destroyed, and you don't even care

I would recommend listening to German “Karneval music” it’s basically a genre but it is based on a “holiday” in Germany.

2:00 German, Dutch, Frisian and English all belong to the west Germanic languages so you are correct in noticing that they sound quite similar. Though english is a bit the oddone out as it has a lot of french (romanic language) influence and hence has a lot less hard consonants and less of the typical stacato rythm to it (though it is still quite prevalent in the English spoken by English, less so in the American and Australian variants)

As a German myself. We dont associate with Mero or any other rapper that ends with -ero. If you like German rap, try JBG 3 from Kollegah and Farid Bang or Bushido.
