Best acid band there ever was. Escorted them from Brighton to London`s Rainbow theatre in my friends antique hurse for their next concert. They installed leslie cabinets all round the balcony to spin the music round the theatre. One of the best trips I`ve ever had.

Most of the footage in this video is from the "Choose Your Masques" tour (1982). I have indicated next to the track titles where I've been able to identify otherwise or specify the date. I have also annotated where I have identified that the audio footage appears on an official Hawkwind release.
    0:00:00 Brainstorm
    0:09:31 Choose Your Masks
    0:16:02 Ghost Dance
    0:20:40 Master of the Universe
0:25:49 Magnu (from "The Chronicle of the Black Sword" tour, 1985)
0:32:24 Angels of Death (from "The Chronicle of the Black Sword" tour, 1985)
0:37:47 Psi Power (a.k.a. Psy Power/Psychic Power) (probably from the "Levitation" tour, 1980)
0:43:02 Lighthouse (excerpt) (The City Hall, St. Albans, 8th December 1979) (the full version features on the 1980 album "Live Seventy Nine")
0:46:48 Shot Down in the Night (excerpt) (probably 1979 but possibly from the 1980 "Levitation" tour).
    0:51:40 Solitary Mind Games
0:56:52 Pre-concert footage from Glastonbury(?) featuring Nik Turner and Huw-Lloyd Langton
    0:59:24 Coded Languages
1:04:53 Assault & Battery (Hammersmith Odeon, London, 4th December 1985 on "The Chronicle of the Black Sword" tour) (features on the B-side of the 1986 single "Zarozinia" and on the 1994 expanded edition of the album "Live Chronicles")
    1:09:36 Lost Chronicles (1986, 1987 or 1988)
1:13:35 Dream Worker (Colston Hall, Bristol, 30th October 1982 on the "Choose Your Masques" tour) (features on the 1983 album "Zones")

Superb collection for the time the equipment was expensive and huge so the dedication of the people who were way ahead of the time now everyone seems to be filming gigs and posting.but the early films are now social history and we are lucky to have people dedicated to their what was back then a hobby for most or bootleggers trying to make a pound off the backs of bands like Hawkwind because of their hardcore following fans were eager for anything new from Hawkwind especially &remember we were watching it on vhs or Betamax video cassettes and players which were connected to a huge dodgy value television so quality was not an issue but today it’s so dodgy but it brings back brilliant memories for Hawkwind have been in my life since I was 12/13ish I’m 51now & I have the pleasure to be friends with Daves daughter and wife I’ve seen Dave singing early one morning just him and some other bands singer doing acoustic version of one of his songs I missed their set that night but I was the only person who was there and my dog that was special for me to think that back then watching Hawkwind on vhs I couldn’t have imagined that I would become friends with some of the musicians that are/have been a massive part of my life and can watch hear anything you want is what I like about the technology and all the friends who tragically died before all of this was invented would be loving the music also I wish they could be here too see it today!!! I’m rambling apologies crack for you eh?ha ha lol?? I’m deeply grateful for the person who filmed all these videos I love the one of them rehearsing especially meaningful as Nik passed away a couple of days ago so too see him in his prime and the others like Huwie some nice footage of him the most underrated guitarist who should be recognised in someways?so only Dave now at the great age of 82 and he is still rocking out and it looks like he is going to do it his way all the way never give up until the very end!!the captain peace love and respect Hawkfreaks around the world ian&suki the Hawkdog

Very first song title of Hawkwind, but another performance.
Hawkwind 1979 = more speedmetal / punk, a little less of psychodelic rock.

The whole scene is typically legendary of the Hawks but rest Huw that was the best...Lest we jest the crest to come of our sum may amount to give account and not succumb to being dumb or mute as fruit following suit...

I have the original VHS tape of this, I think it came from Hawkwind themselves, a tenner I think it was. Some of the best live music by them or anyone else for that matter.

      Χασιστας Φουντικος ghost dance

    • @Grimread
      @Grimread 6 лет назад +1

      It's called "Ghost Dance".
It was co-written by Harvey Bainbridge and Nik Turner.
It was played on the "Choose Your Masques" tour (1982). It first appeared on "Anthology Volume I" in 1985. An edited and remixed form appears on "Out & Intake" (1987). Most recently another version featured on the Atomhenge live release "Coded Languages - Live at Hammersmith Odeon November 1982" (2015). No studio version of this song has ever been released.

42:10 I could read your mind like a magazine. I thought it was Depeche Mode for a second. Now, Lighthouse is straight after, yeah, that's what I was looking for! Who put together this fabulous compilation? Is it published? What's at 1:11:11? That is gorgeous. 1:22:00 There's Turner with his sax with the lightbulb in it!

    • @Chreag

The song at 1:11:11 is Lost Chronicles from The Xenon Codex album.
