It was, definitely. I love Daves throbbing rhythm guitar sound. We went to see the Winter-Solstice in the Astoria for several years, flying in from Germany. Ine one of these concerts i met Dave backstage as i bought his guitar (Thje Warrior) offered on Ebay at the time. Great experience, still cherishing the guitar today. Best part of my Hawkwind collection !

I love Dave Brock, his music has been making me happy since 1970. I used to drop so much acid and his music was always perfect for a trip. I hope he realises how much he has given to so many of us.

The sheer joy of taking a Hawkwind dismissive friend to a gig.
Telling them that they really don't need another hit...
And then watching them have to just lie on the floor a few songs in..

Thing is, with Hawkwind, is there's been many many line ups & you don't get anywhere comparing one with others. We're just sooo lucky that the band has been around for so long & has so much material that we can enjoy. Each line up has its plus and minus; fortunately way more plus than minus. Just celebrate Hawkwind boys & girls, it's wonderful. Love and peace to all xxxx

I mirror your experience all those years ago accidentally as it happens, I helped out during the National Census in 1971, part of my job was to ensure the forms were completed and returned in a certain time frame. So while doing that, I heard and saw Hawkwinds first album with the "leaf lizards"on the front while helping two "hippies" fill in their forms, It changed my musically direction forever. I went out that weekend and bought the album along with "Mothermania" by the Mothers of Invention just for the cover. What a time the 70's was, cheers and merry Christmas.

i agree to a degree mr dibs but at least its out there for everyone to see and as others have said its not readily available to buy at a reasonable price. as for mr dibs position in the hawkwind hierachy, in my opinion he his up there with the best. the amount of energy he put into the live shows and his song writing on the albums he is on will be sorely missed to the same degree as only a few previous members. a true hawk!
