The Golden Void is the greatest piece of classical music ( space rock) ever written and performed on this planet ( I believe they were practicing on another). Eat your hearts out all the orchestras of the world. I'll be going out of this planet playing that at the service. I can't wait.
Nothing beats The Golden Void. The first time I heard it, I was floored, Dave's power chords, Lemmy grooving effortlessly, the beauty of Simon's violin and that sax tone from Nik is pure psychedelic bliss and a joyful sense of infinite time. And the highest note ever recorded on a VCS-3! This version almost equals the original, in one the best post-classical lineups of the Hawks.
Awesome!!! The Greatest psychedelic space rock band of all times.....Hawkwind forever!!!!! Old beautiful memories...phenomenal and legendary band!!!!! Thanks. Enzo57Italy
Just WoW! Bridget Wishart is amazing. What a wonderful performance from her. She's so anti-glamour yet also adds so much complex beauty with her vocals and performance art. Timeless band. Hawkwind are definitely one of the best ever.
@@Lena-di2ln She indeed performs and sings well. I never saw her live I regret to say. I fantasize seeing this Poly Sterene or Pauline Murray of Penetration in her place. Bridget resembles Pauline Murray best I think in this fantasy of mine..
I love this show is it just SOOOOO GOOODD!!!!! I did not really know much about this band until I watched and listened to an interview with Lemmy. It opened up a whole new world of some of the most fantastic prog music I did not even know existed !! Thnx to the guys and girls from Hawkwind for many years of great music and shows.
0:00 - Assault & Battery 3:54 - The Golden Void 10:03 - Out Of The Shadows 17:37 - Night Of The Hawks 28:16 - Back In The Box 34:36 - Arrival In Utopia 37:10 - Ejection 42:00 - Damnation Alley nice concert fascinating band ;)
The beginning is just so full of anticipation,..like standing on the edge of a cliff ... When they all kick in , the energy fuels our silver machines..
David Askew Check out the version on Canterbury Fayre, Simon's there. It's a magnificent live album and many tracks I feel are the best live versions. May just be my favourite live album, either that or Spaced Out In London.
WOW!! Been a long time fan of hawkwind/hawklords, but first time I saw this video. This is unbelievable!! Nobody does space/acid rock better than hawkwind, but this is space/acid rock with new wave/ punk rock, fusion, all combined. violin is amazing. unbelievable.
Saw the band loads accross the UK during the mid 80s to early 90s....happy times. At the end of the UK festival scene in the 80s Hawkwind were a staple with the Ozrics, Magic Mushroom Band, Here and Now and Culture Shock......
This is my favourite band, always!!! Since 40 years i follow them and this is the only band who makes me travel through a real space psychadélic to the land of tne ancient warriors and i love that my god!!!!!!! The most beautiful ship of sound of the universe....
This is great, really. Hawkwind and these fine tunes were great when i was a young teenager. And this is still great music for me in these days, when i am getting older .. Thx to Hawkwind, thx to the uploader...
I will never forget simon and hawkwind in folkestone lees cliff hall in the late 80's when huw lloyd had to stand down due to injury and simon took his place. Played riff for riff on violin. Never heard anything so magical in my life
I have been lucky enough to see them live on at least eight occasions , each time I could have sworn that it was the best concert I'd ever been too . The energy and enthusiasm during their performances is has infectious as their music is enchanting , and rivaled only by Angus Young for his ability to maintain a constant high energy performance . Hawkwind are Masters of the Musicverse .
Whenever I mention Hawkwind folks ask "who?" and I tell them to imagine Pink Floyd with a heavy metal beat. Their eyes narrow a bit and they get this far-distant look on their face. Then they smile and say..."cool!"
Brilliant - Brings back memories of one of the first Hawkwind concerts I saw. Cardiff castle in the mid 70's!! what the hell I wasted the next 5 years with punk! (Stranglers at the Top Rank-duuuh) never mind I finally saw the light!!
The only time i saw them live it was the Xenon Codex tour. It was amazing, but it was in a place so small their slideshow could not fit on a wall so part of it showed up on the ceiling, greatly warped.
Lot's of great talk about rock drummers and Richard is never mentioned. And that's crap. He's great. As a kid i always couldn't wait for the gigs cause of that kick drum and it's volume.
I think I just found my new go-to video when I need to demonstrate to someone {durr aren't they that silver machine band herp derp} just how powerful and musical Hawkwind can be.
Saw this band live leeds university 1972 with lemmy and stacia and 30 + more times throughout England.totally adictive still play space ritual and hall of the mountain grill in my car radio.what a power they genrate awsome it's mind blowing think all that acid I took in the seventys has finally left my system.we were born to go as far as we can. fly turn your dreams into reality.what an amazing band.
Listening after the UK exit from the EU. As long as there is always Hawkwind all will be alright in the Universe. I absolutely love everything about this video...Night Of The Hawks!
No, and please DON'T! Most of the younger generation and Scotland want to remain in the Union and the result of the "review" was inconclusive so the "Call on the Field should stand as called as there is not enough evidence to overturn it"...
Personally I voted to stay but I suspect, now Dodgy Dave has screwed the pooch by bailing out we're going to go through a financially damaging period of protracted wrangling and then come out anyway to soothe Tory Pride ("We made a promise and we're going to keep it" kind off thing) By delaying they'll actually make the effect far worse and drag out the damage until a lot of us really suffer when, if there had been a competent exit stratergy in place, we'd have had a much shorter period of pain and come out, more or less, where we were before financially (just without the benefits of EU citizenship).
I didn't vote at all since I'm not Brittish and therefore had no say in this matter. But I can tell you that the freedom loving people all over Europe need you guys just as much now as we did in the 1940's… Where would we be without you and your former colonies USA, Canada and Australia??? UP SHITS CREEK!!! The UK is the foundation of Western Democracy! You should NOT leave! YOU should take CONTROL of the situation and you CAN'T do that if you LEAVE the EU! Where is the spirit of Winston Churchill??? "We shall never surrender!" It's a h_ll of a lot better to fight the c_cks_ckers in the EU Parliament than to fight them on "the beaches" as you/we once had to do… Only cowards run a way from a challenge and locks themselves in a closet! 48% of Brittish voters did not and they deserve MORE RESPECT than the 52% who did! They are P'Tahks!!! :-)
CB - whever you are in Europe, it doesn't matter to me, you'll always be my brothers & sisters, but we need to release ourselves from the ties of the EU, to keep our identities.....we are not clones, we are not alone.
The "Masters of the Universe" came "Out of theShadows" and became the "Lords of Light" and will never be put "Back in the Box". I started listening at age 14. I'm now 65 and still riding the good ship HAWKWIND.
I've been listening, only ,to this while answering E-mails, fucking hell that was hard as this music was so enjoyably distracting , Hawkwind despite the line up changes the spirit lives on, great stuff indeed, there really is no one else like them in our universe.
This was around the time I thought Hawkwind were loosing the plot, Simon House's brilliant musicianship holds it all together.(Since this came out it's grown on me more and more, I love it now)
First saw this back in the 1990's channel hopping to Channel4 with my mate Grant. We were both on acid at the time. I'll never forget that evening. I've seen Hawkwind live 3 times but I think this remains my favourite Hawkwind experience. At 34:00 particularly sticks in my mind from that tripppppp. "The lid, the lid it comes off!"
Groundbreaking - and the next 7 albums or so. Then they went on space rock autopilot, murdering great tracks like this...And they're on about album 42 of regurgitated drivel. What a shame. They were great in the 70s but when Dave Brock became Hitler and got rid of everyone who didn't conform they ended up sounding like a (poor) tribute band. Nik Turner's bands have that edge...Hawkwind should be my fave band, and if they'd stopped after Church of Hawkwind they would be.
+jaxxstraw I'm glad you think that. Bridget had a dynamism and ~Hawkspirit that matched any of Hawkwinds frontmen. the voice was not the greatest, but her live performances were.
The first time I went to scotland I climbed Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat and, once on the topo, I listened to "Palace Springs" at sensurround volume with my Walkman (hey, it was long, long ago... ). It was a wonderful experience, albeit had on a natural high...

Watched this last week with Harvey Bainbridge. He had not seen it, ever and loved it!
nice, love it myself.
Thank God for Hawkwind!
And I do 😎👍
Just WoW!
Bridget Wishart is amazing. What a wonderful performance from her. She's so anti-glamour yet also adds so much complex beauty with her vocals and performance art. Timeless band. Hawkwind are definitely one of the best ever.

I mind watching this on tv in 1990 on acid but I never noticed at the time is she wearing sussies under that ballet dress?
Absolutely stunning violin by Simon House - fantastico....

A legendary band. Not many bands can make you feel so uplifted and happy

...Simon House from the legendary and absolutely majestic HIGH TIDE...
I come back to this over and over, just to hear Simon's violin.
Aw Yeah I Love this band. Long Live Hawkwind

Where is that AMAZING button ?!
wish I was there. Simon House at his best and the new boy Alan Davey gets my thumbs up
some 6 years new boy by then

A perfect analysis
Bill D. in Iowa great description I've been a fan since the early 90's
Cooler than cool. They haven’t heard of them because the mothership has been in outer space since the early 70’s

What an amazing performance, wonderful artists and music, beautiful fireplay. Julie really adds another dimension.
Seen hawkwind about 5 times always brilliant great band
Love the band love this gig thanks for uploading
I saw them in 1993 at the Limelight NY. They Absolutely Blew Me Away🎆🎶🌌🎶
This live show is really good, why didn't the Band sound like that all the time? probably because Simon and Harvey are in it again

My God. My love for everything HW (one mid 90's album perhaps excluded) never abates
Same here, there were some dodgy 90s albums but I always come back to Hawkwind and live, they are magnificent.

Amazing dancer! Just brilliant! Nice person too!
So great, thank you so much for posting!
I've always wanted to see these guys performing this live.
... this is great...Hawkwind always amazes me... never knew music could be so simplistically beautiful. :)
Always nice to see Alan and Brocky laughing.
Simon House is masterful
What a lineup! Simon!! 🎻
Nice Show, Great Show!
Fantastic!!
OMG - Hawkwind - this is this greatest from the first note the the last chord/note - OMG live forever please - the greatest!
I can see from the comments that Bridget Wishart has her detractors but this was a stunning performance from her, particularly during Back In The Box.
+mattthetoadlicker I thought this period of the band with Wishart was a high point myself.
+jaxxstraw I'm glad you think that. Bridget had a dynamism and ~Hawkspirit that matched any of Hawkwinds frontmen. the voice was not the greatest, but her live performances were.
+mattthetoadlicker I'm someone that grew up on Stacia-era HW, but I think Bridget's great!! Simon House really tears it up throughout as well!
is she wearing Bobs goggles?
Oh, i think we all wear Bob's goggles eh.
Seen them in 85 and this year i wish i had gone to more bummmmmmer
Great band. I was lucky enough to see them when I was a teen in Paris, in 1975 I believe. A great show ! A real band that can play !
Great band , and a great dvd !!!!!
The first time I went to scotland I climbed Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat and, once on the topo, I listened to "Palace Springs" at sensurround volume with my Walkman (hey, it was long, long ago... ). It was a wonderful experience, albeit had on a natural high...
The great moment when assault and battery melts into golden void , magic 👍
Thanks for posting - lovely video from a lovely tour!
Have this on DVD somewhere! Cracking concert with Simon playing that electric violin, Hawkwind on all four cylinders are fantastic, would like to see Alan back in the band too.
So much faster than the studio versions... Amazing!
yes brillant gig only 26 years ago .. savage tunes...
This is addictive. SOOOOOOOOO much more creative than the crap that comes out now!!!
Wow,one of the best shows from Hawkwind i ever have seen ;)
This was a great line-up. I think Bridget's was a good sound to pass through Hawkwind.
This was round about the time when I got into them. One of the nations hidden gems. I bloody love the hawks I do.
Maybe their best video! Universal or cherry red please re-release it! Concerning the Space Bandits CD: it`s fantastic and if you don`t own it: BUY IT!
This was on Channel 4 I think? I recorded it on video and still have the tape, but nothing to play it on, so it's good to see it up here.
WTF!!! Why in the name of all that's holy, did the bell-ends responsible for the release (which is great), cut the last track- the very best live version ever of 'Wind of Change'. Unforgivable!
Great time period for the bands line up and sound. Nice one Suonimolesti
golden void is a timeless classic itl be played on the edge of time
This is an unusually musical effort by the band, and all the better for it
your comment made me LOL

I love how they dub the middle of Damnation alley like in Palace Springs live too!~
Fabulous lineup esp violin virtuoso! Trying to figure out setlist. i got Assualt and battery, warrior at the edge of time medley, and Out of the Shadows, then an extended jam with a ballet dancer, Night of the Hawks. Back in the Box, Utopia, Ejection
The bands peak last from 1972 to 2018. never a deviation or change. Excellence from beginning to now.

71 - 73 ....then 77 - 00....
