  • Fantastic to see this really small hot air balloon, this is one of only 2 Cameron Balloons (UK) Built VIVA 20,000ft3 hang balloons ever built. Constructed in 1988 and restored to flight in recent years.
Special thanks to Tim Ward for bringing it to Llangollen as he prepared his equipment for the 2019 flying season.

Can't imagine Cameron built very many V-20's. With the O, V, Z and N all being made in 31, 42 sizes and the M being a 34,000cu.ft. lots of really good choices for the older and newer hopper fan. I have a 42 racer, a Ultramagic M-56C and a N series 31 which I intend to use the same lightweight basket I use with my 42. Happy hoppin'!

Only 2 I understand, i think they built a H type as well. A 42 racer sounds sporty i bet that handles like a sports car on nitro

Both the 42 and my M-56C fly incredible! I limit my ascents to 800FPM^ and about the same in decents. I let the balloon cool on its own except if I have to make a quick change at a target.
My Ultramagic M-56C on the other hand I have come down in excess of 1800FPM and about 1000'^. The older I get, the more I understand.. Age and wisdom usually wins out over youth and treachery! My flying season here is about to start. Goal is to fly 2-3 a week! My flying season is so short here in Phoenix. Lucky if I get 40-60hrs. Already getting a late start 94°F here on November 3rd. Cheers!

@@kevinstephenson3880 I need to do a video on Racers, as it's a subject I've not had chance to talk through much, but it will complement the Competitive task films, and of course (as an envelope design guy) there is always the aerodynamics aspect, as you suggest 1800FT/min vertically is way faster than you could push a VIVA and not end up spinning like a top and drifting miles off course. I've got a couple of friends I met out in ABQ who are in AZ, (well one is a snowbird about to fly south) - 40 / 60 hour season sounds AWSOME, I'd love a season like that - Happy Landings

Cloudhoppers are great and the 1980's saw a big increase in the style and shape of these balloons being created and flown, Cameron balloons rival Thunder Balloons built 22,000ft3 SKY Chariots, check our video of one being flown - follow the link ruclips.net/video/QpAU2N7CBkY/видео.html

Bendigedig! Is it the smallest V-type of Cameron then? Did they also make duo cloud hopper Viva models?

yes, this is the smallest production variant, next size up was 31, and then a 42,000ft3 envelope I've seen the 42 flown a few times with 2 people on board, but not with a seat, only with a collapsible wicker basket - the voyager basket.
