This makes the advice to always press every 6 seconds less reliable because the mana/damage tradeoff is much less. Could you correct the video?
I play a shockadin but I really liked the way you broke down the different abilities and tips; a lot of them are transferable. You explained yourself in a very clear and easy to follow way. Very good video and you've definitely helped my understanding of not just ret paladins but the paladin class in pvp.

You can bind the auras from the special action bar section instead of making a whole new bar for them. If you're going to switch to seal of blood to judge, find a different libram than one that procs off of judgement of command. If you're specced into pursuit of justice, don't get a movement speed enchant or gems, you're wasting Stat allocation, they don't stack.

I've been hearing that a reck based spec that doesn't run crusader strike is the way to go, but the fact that crusader strike can proc wf and SoC is pretty attractive.
yeah i remember reck being SOOO broken, i think i might still have the screenshot on my old pc where i went 48-0 in AB and it was like this every single BG and i wasnt even that geared, SO much fun!
@@SHEEPDOGofDALLAS No, you will just go oom and be rendered useless. 0 reason to seal twist with crusader striker avaible unless you wanna use blood judgment to get out of a poly.
@@rickroll9705 you might not be doing it right then. You’d never prio a twist over c strike or judgment with blood up. Your twist happens after you strike and judge blood before the next auto. Rank 1 command costs nothing so don’t see mana argument at all.
@@cynergi7498 you might need to invest some time into reviewing the rotation. It’s one rank 1 command every judgement. If you go oom with that maybe your not gearing right?
Very solid overview of the ret paladin. I wanted to share a note on opening on targets coming off from repentance. You mentioned opening the rotation with a crusader strike and use the time of the repentance to cleanse, however with a 3.8sec swing timer you are actually better off using most of that stun to get an auto-attack (procs) and spell batch into a SoC judgement cuz its more dmg on stunned target and finally complete with a crusader strike. Since judgment is off GCD you can actually get all this burst at once before breaking the stun, avoiding fears, DC, silences, blinks you know the drill
The main reason, why paladins dont judge justice in classic is, that the rank 1 spell only applies the no-fear effect. that movement limitation comes in tbc with rank 2. it is useful for the stun proc on hits though. also i really like to still take eye for an eye with 1/3 into vindication, just to have that extra magic debuff apllied to protect your HoJ/rep or your shamans shocks, with ret pally also having 30% dispel protection, it is very decent. Great video overall, enjoying your content :)
hi ! Good job for your video. I have a question for you : if crusader strike has a chance to proc seal of command, why you judge before and dont reset seal of command for your crusader strike ? Maybe its better to do crusader strike before judging.
I have either missed it or you did not mention Seal Twisting. Sorry if I did miss it, but a Ret guide without any focus on seal twisting is just lacking. It is the very reason Rets are viable ^^
You are hit capped, you have extra 2% hit rating in your talents. Save Repentance for reaching target, cc other target, interrupt or prolong cc after stun so shaman can purge for e.g. druids nature swiftness if there was like some little time between the stun and repentance and it gives shaman another free cast on the enemy. Seal twist is something you need to cover since sometimes your only way to win is with that damage even tho its a rng.
Ret doesn't seem meta but honestly think I'll just play something I like and roll ret. Thanks for going over this spec. Been watching you for years now. Keep it up man
Solid vid. Had a Ret alt forever from wrath on. Mines 67 and has been solely prot. Thinking I’ll get a set to farm strath and pvp for the end of tbc on ret. Appreciate all the info.
Loved the tips per class. Have you tried seal twisting for your burst? Theres some serious 1 shot potential going from SoC into a start attack with SoB/wings/trinket. This does have me re-think my burst window with moving out of rank 1 SoC just for the burst. Rep > Max rank SoC judge > HoJ > re-apply SoC > Seal twist with SoB/Wings/Trink.
I am looking at the same thing. I have been twisting as normal in PvP and Arena, but I am now looking at max rank SoC instead and only sometimes using SoB, so as not to damage myself too much. I dunno how much other Rets twist in PvP?
Ya if ur not seal twisting ur not doing dmg.. and yes I switch to soc rank 6 when I rep or hoj someone. Cool trick that no one seems to mention is u can put rep and judgement into one macro and if u have rank 6 SoC active.
