When I make veggie burgers or fritters I always squeeze the water out of the courgette, carrot and beetroot! I grate it all and put it in a towel or muslin cloth and just squeeze it! It makes the mixture hold together well :)
I was going to suggest this! Along with squeezing shredding veg out, I've also had success adding toasted panko to veggie burger patties that are wet and kinda frustrating me:)
100% can relate to those really ‘low’ days around my period. I usually have one or two days a month right before my period where I am so lethargic and bleh both physically and emotionally. I usually have to stay in bed and keep to myself. Glad I’m not the only one ❤️
This was such a nice calming video to watch in the bath! Trying to be more present when watching RUclips videos and not be distracted / on my phone and this got me thinking about lots of lovely recipes to try! Stay safe and well! Lots of love xx
Madeleines food videos are some of my favourite to watch on youtube! They are so calming, and all of the food looks delicious! They always make me hungry 😂
Oh you poor thing - really hope you're starting to feel better. Love your channel. You were the first vegan person I started following and you really inspired me to stick with it, because your food is quick and easy to make, and really tasty. Big 'thank you' from me x
I watch for you as much as for the recipes, so please don’t apologise for not showing the cooking parts! (Taking care of yourself is more important!) But I appreciate your honesty and down to earth-ness and these videos always help me feel more relaxed around food which I really need so thank you for that 🙏
During the first month I was baking bread every two days hahaha I felt like "I'm a baker, I'm going to open a bakery after all of this", but now I've moved to more baked veggies haha. Too much time to used
I love how you said, when you first go vegan you tend to be carb heavy. I’m 2 years vegan and my first year I was trying to do a lot of meal plans and was either not eating enough or was super carb heavy. As I’ve learned to add more fats and proteins I’m definitely fuller longer. Fat is a hard one for me though, I can’t eat avocado and have to remind myself to add fat in. I use to see almond butter as a no food or one to restrict so it’s very hard to break the cycle and add a good amount of it!
Ouff you have to remember that eating vegan is great but it's already a lot of restrictions... adding a diet or other restrictions on top of that is a recipee for disaster. (For your mental and physical health) I know what it's like to have anxiety around foods and it's so hard to break... but I have and it's such a relief. The satisfaction factor is SO important with food.
Loved the video. I think it’s nice having a mix of videos where you show everything and then a more chill video where you just show us the food and talk about it. I’m here for both of those and anything in between.
I'm not a vegan but your videos and meals are f**ing amazing, in the past I've been put off by vegan foods simply because most videos I watch is just "salad, veg and fruit" and to be fair it's not that exciting. Your videos tho take that to the next level esp the one video you made chocolate porridge , you are also so creative and do stuff that I wouldn't say is vegan but is.
I agree her recipes are more exciting and easy, there are plenty of other amazing vegan recipes to replace animal products. You can find a vegan alternative for pretty much everything these days! Have a look at this video for more inspiration/motivation: ruclips.net/video/KHOcox2lvQo/видео.html
Definitely avoid the high raw/raw till 4/whatever vegans. Most of us do NOT eat that way. I also recommend Cheap Lazy Vegan and Caitlyn Shoemaker if you want to check out some other realistic vegan youtubers.
Ikr all the videos are like salads and smoothies like I’m vegan but I don’t wanna just eat leaves lol. I eat vegan Mac and cheese, ice cream, pizza etc
Would love to hear you talk more about your experience with finding satiety? I struggle with it also, I always try and follow what my mind AND body want, and make sure its high protein with healthy fats also but sometimes I think I slightly miss the trick 🤔 the foods I have are typically high fibre also with being vegan so I can tick that off too
I used to be the same way with peanut butter but it was because I was getting the really thick and stick to your mouth type. Now I love it since getting a natural version without added oil and all those other things. I also used to hate mushrooms but since trying your recipes I LOVE them! You are the best thanks for everything girl!
And I absolutely love this chill video just showing what and kind of how you make food not necessarily exact recipes or ingredients. I love it! As an aspiring vegan I always need new inspo!!!
I've been making a bunch of veggie burgers during lockdown (so much more unstructured time) and a tip I found online was to roast the canned beans for 20 minutes at 350F, which dries them out and improves the texture of the burger. Also, adding ground nuts like walnuts or cashews, plus some bread crumbs (or maybe oats would work) adds a little crunch! Thanks so much for all the recipes, I never would've gotten into cooking if it weren't for your videos. :)
Man me and my boyfriend have your curry recipe almost every week since I saw it like 2 years ago 😂 we LOVE it. I need to check out your other recipes. I appreciate your balanced approach.
Probably my favourite food/cooking channel on RUclips and I'm not even vegan! All of your recipes and meals are really approachable and realistic, and your whole channel feels so authentic. Just the fact that you don't film everything because you forget or feel down contributes to that sense of realism, that sense that everything you cook I could cook. There's no pressure to reach an unattainable goal. As I said, I'm not vegan. But I think you're channel is a massive reason why my diet these days is much more vegan, because you make it seem realistic and still delicious!
When working with courgette I normal grate them and let them sit coated in a bit of salt and then squeeze out the water. Could really help with the burgers so they’re not so wet and the courgette becomes quite sticky without the water.
Just a note on blended flax, it goes bad pretty quickly once its ground (or at best looses a lot of its nutrients), keep it in the fridge or the freezer to keep it freshest. (It doesnt freeze solid, its still like a powder)
Your vegan cooking style is a bit like mine lol opening the cupboard, fridge, combining the left overs as well and going spontaneous! It’s always delicious 😋
ughhh girl i adore you so freaking much! your videos are literally my favourite!! and i know i've told you this before, but because of you i literally started my own youtube channel! so i just wanted to thank u again for being such an inspiration ily
Special shout-out to Alex after two weeks of watching all your vlogs and having so many laughs from the edits. I might start watching Sponge Bob now that I'm always quoting those time intermissions. Hehe. You're a natural comedian! All those travel and food vlogs have given me much needed entertainment and inspiration, as I'm out cycling more and trying to be more creative with my recipes. :) Oh, and my favourite mayonnaise is the Hellman's vegan mayo, which I had just added to my potato salad last night. Big cheers to you both!
Add a splash of Worcestershire Sauce over the top of the mushroom toast too....I swear it just kicks it up a notch and makes already perfect even more amazing, one of my all time fave flavour combos !!!! 👌😋👍
I absolutely love your videos, so simple and effective. Would love to see more vegan meals prep. I'm soooooo hungry now, need to go and cook but gladly you gave me some ideas
I've suggested Abbey Sharp looks at your meals I think she will be pleased to see a vegan you tuber who actually eats a healthy diet, hope you don't mind 😃 I can't rave about you enough, you're beautiful inside and out ❤
If you like dill in a potato salad but haven't got any - try using pickle water from dill pickles instead of vinegar. I usually put some diced pickles in as well but I guess not everyone likes that.
I recently made a beet ball recipe and roasted the beets before making the mixture, which helped remove some of the moisture... it all came together quite well! Thank you for the recipe inspiration, everything looks delicious 🤤
Hey Maddy. Grinding up flaxseed and chia seeds in advance are a fantastic idea. I do it too. Just wanted to say, don't forget to put them in the fridge so they don't go rancid 🍩. Love your channel ♥️
Just stumbled across your channel. Some of the shops you list, sound like you are near us. We are Dartmoor. Turned vegan 🌱 one month ago and FEEL AMAZING !! Wish we had done it sooner - love your recipes ! Going to try the chickpea tuna sandwich 🥪👍🏽
Great recipes and video for the critical and difficult times we're living in at the moment. Keep safe and well everyone. Practice social distancing and self isolating.
Omg finding that not all wine is vegan has shook me to the core. My family used to make wine and it was definitely vegan. I never even thought of it. Thanks for the heads up. xx
Hey, last video you showed Rhubarb. You could make a compote and put it on your oats with peanut butter. Like peanut butter and jelly on top of oats. Hello from Australia!
Out of curiosity, what are summer greens? We don’t have anything called that in the US but they kind of look like what we call collard greens or mustard greens. If they are collards, than what you made with the black eyed peas is very Southern (as in from the southern US). Cooked collards are very popular and hoppin’ john is a dish made with black eyed peas and tomatoes and is usually pretty spicy (hence “hoppin’”) and often served over rice. So mixing those two together feels very right.
Claire Woerner I’m pretty sure Spring and Summer greens are cabbages whose heart hasn’t grown yet, only the outer leaves. If left in the ground, they would mature into proper cabbages by autumn.
Fantastic video. During lockdown I've gotten back to making video's on my channel and cooking more and more which has been great. Plenty of great food for me to try here too. Thanks Madeleine.
Thanks for all the inspo, everything looks so good! That wine looks delish too 🥰 I just watched your "why I stopped drinking alcohol" video, would love an update if there is one / you want to talk about it. I only ask as there have been times where I don't drink alcohol for ages but end up back on it for whatever reason, would love to hear your experience. 💞

Love your cooking videos :). Does anyone know if the mushroom dish at the beginning is just oil, garlic and then fry the mushrooms? Am I missing any ingredients there? X
You might be having trouble getting Sriracha as I am because it was taken off the market due to some over the top safety concern. I don't think its a CV thing. M&S does one but it's way stronger and more pungent .
