My sister's friend ended up stealing a car and wrecking it while running from the cops. He got away on foot and stole another car that was warming up. But it was a manual and he couldn't drive it so he only made it a few streets over. He hid next to that car and waited for a cop to come. Then stole the police car, ended up wrecking that one too. That was about 18 years ago and I think he's still in jail lol

Only two officers had their vehicles stolen. The rest of the myriad of departments involved stopped two stolen police cruisers without anyone getting injured. That's pretty good work.

However, with that many cruisers on-site, at least one or two cops should've stayed near them just in case. The suspect being given the ability to steal TWO cop cars is insane. That truck was surrounded, yet he slipped out easily. These coos are gonna get eaten alive when they return to the precint. That guy was tripping some serious balls. I hope Beyonce and Steve Austin will be moved by this man's devotion. 😅
Well they have two keys. One left in the car to keep it running because of all the electronics and another on them so they can lock it while it's still running.
No one really took charge of the situation and they all seemed too timid to approach the vehicle at first and then just let him run away to another cop car. More training needed.

Cop doesn't know if the thief has a gun or not but he knows he doesn't have one drawn and that other people with guns are chasing the thief. People mid-chase are liable to be trigger happy. Moving to grab the guy could have ended up with him shot or run over. Capturing the guy with zero injuries or causalities is far from incompetent.
