I think saying that the male and female protagonists were basically the same is not true. The Male version is moody, cool, and distant, while the female version is outgoing, energetic, and fun. You can tell through the dialogue, music choices, and even later games like pq2 that they're distinct.
@@frogglen6350 there are always 3 dialogue options: obligatory Yes & No, the third option however is always distinct in every persona game (P4 is kinda goofy, while P5 is cocky). P3 Protag was kinda cool and distanced with every 3rd option being "I don't know", "I don't care", "whatever" and even "it's your fault (not mine, so deal with it yourself)". FeMC was more poppy and playful, the one I remember till this day is when they're back from the hot springs: in the school grounds one NPC calls Mitsuru so cool and beautiful, Minato's 3rd option was "huh..." or smth like that, while Minako's was "I can sell her pics if you want :)". Some would argue that because of that she doesn't suit the grim atmosphere of P3, but some fans, including me, could see this behaviour as masking your own depression by being "extra".
Personally I liked that part as well they didn't start out as sworn brothers and sisters ready to die in this weird dark hour together it felt like they where a bunch of people that where just trying to be nice in a business type way and they grew together with the hardship in fact I remember quite a few scenes where the team was at each other throats but they worked it out and became closer because of it and to me that spoke volumes
I am really looking forward to playing P3P, I loved the dynamic between the Phantom Thieves (Mona and Ryuji constantly going at each other got old) but a more work focused perspective would be really interesting to experience.
Its really subjective. I either click with someone or don't fairly quickly, as do people I know. My brother's friends even mostly come from his job. So a situation where you and a few others are literally alone with information pertaining to the fate of the world where they take so long to form a bond does not feel natural. I can even throw in some Psychology, since it has been widely accepted that people are more inclined to seek companionship when they share something they either do not or cannot share with others.
In the defense of Mitsuru's social link being not available till late, she was personally taking on so much at once out of a sense of obligation and only after major story moment that alters her life A LOT, she decides to step back a little and take time for herself, AIgis needed to be less robotic over time so i guess that's ok, though I agree about the no night social links besides Devil and Tower... and technically Hermit but it takes an entire day, on that note if a link requires both day and night it should be one of the automatic rank up kinds like Sun and Devil were, just to offset it.
I think this is much better than just giving them s-links as soon as they become party members, as it really leads to no in story development being available, or at least used (as shown in 3&4)
i thought they were developed well enough but it was a little too simplified. just finished p4 and i thought it was cool that some relationships could go backwards. i think they should have added even more depth to that in p5 but they got rid of it entirely instead, which is disappointing. i would like it better if choices would strengthen some bonds and weaken others, making it much more in depth and much more difficult to obtain a lot of high level links. it just feels like another case of simplifying a game in order to draw in more casual players, which is a shame for those of us who would prefer the opposite. p5 was my first persona game and i still think it's amazing, but after playing 4 i can't help but see how much more amazing 5 could have been.
@@Jack_80 They were developed fine enough - in social links. They got no real development other than "awakening to their personas" and "beating their master/teacher/dad/debtor/sister/mother", nothing after that. Which is why Ann isn't as popular as she should be, because she stopped being important after Kamoshida, which was the beginning of the game... And someone might say "What's the problem with people developing in social links?" Social Links are, actually, optional. You don't HAVE to do a social link, although you'll be missing out on their sick benefits for fusion and battle. They're completely unrelated to the story, and they gain no real character of their own, because they ONLY develop when you, the protagonist, are there. Which means no character is a character unless the protagonist is there. Persona 4 has a similar issue, but not as bad because everyone seems to spend quality time with eachother anyways, masking that issue a little bit better. Naoto is fine, though.
Alphae Williams It’s not undeveloped so much as finishing their arc and immediately fading out of relevance rather than being written as consistently stand out characters
@Anonymous Turkey because the characters in P5 everyone is completely dependent on the protagonist lol. In P3 the social links are (like the other guy said optional) side stories while the main characters get development through the main story. It also doesnt help that characters become irrelevant after their arc/palace which makes it feel like the social links were an afterthought
So about the fusion spells. This is going into heavy spoilers territory so people that haven't finished the game probably shouldn't read this. I believe fusion spells are only present in P3 because of all the protagonists, the P3 mcs are the only one that are powerful enough to do them. After all, it IS stated in the game that having Death inside their body for so long enhanced greatly their abilities ( don't know if they specified "wild card abilities" though ). They are also the only protagonists to have access to the Universe arcana, whereas the other mcs only get the World arcana. I think just that proves how special the P3 mcs are from the others. Then again, fusion spells is a very cool mechanic and I'd love to see it again in a Persona game.
Maya was the first female persona Protagonist, though some recently found data in the game reveals it was probably Jun who was the supposed to be the main character of P2:EP, which honestly makes more sense, Maya is too effervescent to be a silent protagonist, Jun would be great for a silent atoner for his actions in IS, and he would be the first gay protagonist for persona. (Tatsuya was dependant on the players choice)
Yukari's character in the Answer actually relates more to her being the Lovers arcana and her persona being Isis(in Mythologies, she traveled all over Egypt to collect her lover's separated body parts to see him again) Yukari wanted to see Minato again because she loves him. So she has a point for acting that way I mean, would you really hate someone who suffered the 5 stages of grief because someone they loved made a sacrifice?
True her actions are realistic, many people probably would risk it all to save the one they loved. However, it's still infuriating watching her completely disregard everyone else's opinion and potentially endanger the entire world just for this one guy.
Gustavo Lima Yukari’s feelings for the Protagonist are canon, and so are Aigis’. But so is Yukari admitting that Aigis loves him most of all after things get real.
I think people are really aggressive towards Yukari, in the beginning I found her to be a little annoying, but she grown on me throughout the game and the complain about she bringing her dad up too much is just nitpicking for me, because she is clearly still suffering from it, so is normal for her to bring up often and also that is her reason to fight in the beginning. So yeah people who "hate" Yukari are MOSTLY misunderstanding the character.
@@jennytulls6369 tbf, people often forget that when they were talking about what to use the Abyss of Time for that they didn't actually know there was no other way to stop Nyx. Can't blame her for being willing to take a gamble to save a life especially since P5 takes a huge gamble in the interrogation thing.
I prefer the way your teammates work in P3, with them getting tired, it feels more human, like how in P2 sometimes the others will be unavailable, I always felt your friends in P4 and P5 revolve around you, in P3 they feel like people who get tired and sometimes have their own thing going on, sometimes somebody won't be available because they're studying for exams, P5 feels weird because nobody ever has anything going on, everybody is always just ready to go to Mementos, like, Ryuji? You don't have to run errands for your mum? Makoto doesn't have studying to do? Ann isn't caught up in modelling? Everybody is just "you wanna kill the physical personification of death itself? Sure thing, I ain't got anything better to do" P4 can kinda get away with it, because Inaba being in the middle of bumfuck nowhere is the motivation of multiple characters, so I can buy Kanji, Chie and Teddie not having anything better to do, but Yosuke, Yukiko and Naoto all have responsibilities, but are just ready to go into the tv whenever
@@captaingoji4121 P4 could have added that immersion while also avoiding any gameplay issues by having the enemies conveniently have problems that character would have suffered against anyways. Like, not having Yosuke in a dungeon filled with wind resist enemies.
Hold on. If you haven't noticed, the characters DO have things to do. It is totally different for Tartarus because you always see them every night in the dorms. In Persona 5, you can only see the party members after school and they are not even available everyday to hang out but guess what? Palaces are priority as much as the full moon day is in Persona 3 so they are always ready. Besides, if you clear the palace but spend times without sending the calling card, they are never available to hang out because they are in stand-by. Exams? They literally text you a week before to study together and the story doesn't allow you to do any Metaverse business after the deadline is covered which conveniently goes with the date of exams and summer homework. Yet, you are telling me that because they are never tired, they are not human?
This was my first Persona game or at least P3P was and MAN was it hard.....Honestly this was a very good game, but this game definitely has more flaws than both P4 and P5. Truth be told Persona 4 Golden is my favorite Persona game but I'll always remember Persona 3 for being my gateway into the series. And I hope to god in P6 they get rid of the stupid "If the protagonist dies, it's an automatic game over" bullcrap. 18:58 funny u mention that honestly cuz in my playthrough in P3P, my party consisting of Aigis, Koro-chan, and Ken actually did bail on me and the enemy killed me in one shot, I didn't touch Persona 3 for 2 weeks after that.
Wow, you thought p3p was hard? I had to stay awaken until 4 am just to beat one of the bosses at The Answer. Even with pretty good Personas. And tbh i dont think that they should get rid of the protag death = game over thing, since they always have a boost by being able to change personas on the fly.
funni n original it doesn’t make sense though. If a teammate dies you can just revive them, but say if the enemy hits your weakness and gets a lucky crit on the protagonist and you die say bye to your progress, since apparently your teammates don’t have the brain capacity to use a revival bead or samarecarm. It’s just a bad mechanic
@@inkursion5868 Yeah, P3 did it's story better. P2 has so much to do with the cast dealing with time and their fate that it takes up a major section of explanation not needed throughout pacing. P3, the protagonist literally achieves what Philemon wanted from humanity all along and does it, knowing full well that his destiny is to die. He knows that life must be protected, and that giving them a second chance on life, minus his own, he keeps the promise he made to Igor and essentially Philemon that humanity can attain a higher self and become selfless enough to protect life
Dreamer Thief There actually are canon names. They’re used in the Anime and Manga. P3:Makoto Yuki(Anime) and Minato Arisato(Manga) P4:Yu Narukami(Anime) and Souji Seta(Manga) P5:Ren MAMAMIYA(Anime) and Akira Kurusu(Manga)
@@absolutetr4sh551 Sure, but the main media is the games, and the developers wanted the player to totally get in the protagonist role (Thats why the design of the are more simple than the one of your companion, you know hentai mc style), still i think you right, when im not playing them i refer to them with their anime/manga name Minato Yuki, Yu Narukami, Ren Amamiya
Dreamer Thief The (most) canon name for each protagonist: 3: Makoto Yuki (anime + crossovers into other series's) 4: Yu Narukami (literally everything besides the manga) 5: Ren Amamiya (anime + dancing) Atlus themeselves never states explicitly that the names are canon, but when you use them so much in official canon entries like the dancing games and you submit them to other unrelated series's of games for use, I take them as being effectively canonized.
I feel I may have caused some confusion in regards to what I think about P3’s battle theme ‘Mass Destruction’. I like it enough, even though I prefer ‘Reach Out To The Truth’ and ‘Time To Make History’ from P4, as well as ‘Last Surprise’ and ‘Take Over’ from P5. I just wish I could listen to the extra Tartarus tracks a bit longer before going into another battle. Otherwise, ‘Mass Destruction’ is a catchy tune. Edit: I've been receiving tons of other comments of how Makoto Yuki's manga name is actually Minato Arisato, and how Maya from Persona 2 is the first female protagonist within the series. I have now gone through the Persona 2 duology, which I had not done before making this video, now fully aware of Maya's existence, and I thought I had found the name Minato Yuki somewhere, but now I for the life of me can't find it again, so apologies for getting both of those facts wrong. Edit edit: Guys, I know that Persona 3's overlying theme is about death and living the life to the fullest. I've already picked up on that. Please refrain from anymore comments explaining it to me.
David Gonzalez Now that’s a tough one! They’re both great! I guess Mass Destruction by just a tiny bit, since it’s probably a more suitable battle theme than Wiping All Out, despite working pretty well too.
I have a lot of complaints about this review, so I'll number them and start making a wall for someone to read. Oh, and uh... SPOILERS, if you didn't already know. 1) "Minato's" canonical name is Makoto Yuki, yes, but you didn't even get Minato (the name from the manga) right. It's Minato Arisato, not Minato Yuki. 2) You seem to skip over the characters quite a bit. This is the only modern persona title (3,4,5) that introduces character development outside of social links. Which is amazing. Having character development separated from the actual plot/story sucks ass. Persona 4 and Persona 5 suffer from that issue. Everyone grows as people, even the damn robot. All of the characters are unique to each other while being simple. They serve as archetype backbones for each and every Persona game afterwards. I'm not SAYING that the characters from later titles are copies, but saying they didn't get influence (makoto is literally a mitsuru clone i'm not even joking, and they somehow ruined that) from these characters is a straight-up lie. 3) A k i h i k o . Again, skipping over a character. You really didn't give him justice in this video. He has the best development as a character in the entirety of the modern titles, and arguably the best social link (in p3p) because of giving an even better depth to his personality, and revealing that he finds the female protagonist to be a lot like his sister, Miki. To the point he thought of her as Miki, for an extended period of time. You just chalk him up to be a protein junky, or a training junky, but that's not fair at all. Okay, it would be fair if you said that about Persona 4 Arena Akihiko, because that just ruined his whole fucking character and development, but you can't say that about him in P3. It isn't what really defines him as a character (yet), and is not annoying at all in this game, compared to PQ/PQ2 and P4Arena, of course. 4) Y u k a r i . I think there are two types of people in this world. The: "Yukari is just a bitch!" people (you, the reviewer), and then there's people, like me. Yukari acted like she did towards Mitsuru out of jealousy and repressed bitterness about her father's death. She made it her life's purpose to find out the truth about his death and is quite an emotionally isolated character because of it, despite her popularity in school. Also, she is correct in that Mitsuru knowingly hid things from the rest of SEES even if Yukari's intentions of finding that information out were laced with bitterness. However, she does apologise to Mitsuru for her actions and eventually grows into a better person as a result of self-reflection and her friendships improve as a result of it. Everyone was terrible in The Answer, it killed a lot of the characters for a lot of people. It's just that she was the most affected by Minato's death. The Answer in general sucks ass, but it's canon. People dislike Yukari for the same reason as people dislike Rise for being a slutty main love interest, when in reality, she's not that either. I'll get into that if someone sends a reply asking for it, but that doesn't belong in THIS comment. 5) You glossed over the fact while complaining about non-playable party members, that you can still indirectly control what they do. You did cover it, to be fair, but none of those certain circumstances/situations you described happen. They only do when you don't **command your team** as a leader properly, and don't give them orders prior to and/or in battle. I've played the game dozens of times, and can tell you that it's totally fine. And, seeing how you think the game is centered on enemy weakpoints, I'd recommend not entirely focusing on that. Focus on buffing/debuffing a lot more than that. It will make the entire game almost a joke. (Aside from velvet bosses) 6) "I know it's older than Persona 4 and Persona 5, so I shouldn't expect as much depth" kind of annoyed me, not gonna lie. As the game with the best character development, and what a lot of fans call the best story as well, there's plenty of depth. Especially when comparing it to Persona 5, which is just a huge mess of a plot, and loses it's magic after maybe madarame's palace? I won't go into anymore depth than that. Other than that, it was a serviceable review, but I, personally, had a lot of complaints. I can tell you like persona, though. Like, a lot. Hope you'll do more content in the future.
I agree with most of the things said here, but, "best character development" of any Persona game (You may be referring to modern titles, but since there's no context) isn't quite right when the duology of Persona 2 exists
One thing I noticed about Saori when experiencing the social link myself is she was expected by her family and the other grown ups to be all Little Miss Perfect and also for the fact that she never says no to anything and is willing to blindly do things, even if the offer she's been given is shady and suspicious and that anyone else who would be given these exact same offers would spot the red flags and decline them, which people in the school took advantage of and is how she got herself into all this trouble in the first place and everyone turned on her because of all this, and it seemed like it wasn't the first time it happened to her either, this does explain why she's been skipping and transferring schools a lot and why she's two years late into school. It also made me wondered about how her family raised her exactly where they expect her to be an obedient Little Miss Perfect and not have any opinions or thoughts, but if bad things happen and she's involved in it in someway shape or form, they punish her for it and say it's all her fault. This is actually a terrifying thing if you really think about it.
I like how people complain about yukari being mean as a bad thing when it is actually played to be an important character development. But In persona 4 Chie and yukiko are mean early game but it’s played for funny hahas. Most of the characters in p4 just stop developing in general. Whereas the persona 3 cast gets better and better as you go. It’s kinda silly to complain about going back to save points when it’s more of a problem to have a laughably easy game such as p4 or p4g
I remember the scene where Chie bought Teddie's clothes with Yosuke's money and didn't get reprimanded for it. She even shouted back at him as if he looked up her skirt or something. What a jerk. Somebody tried to defend that scene by saying that it was supposed to be funny in japan, but didn't actually explain why.
Insert name here yeah. Honestly it surprises me how many people just ignore that. I love all the persona games but I can’t just ignore the clunky and inconsistent writing of persona 4.
Facts. If someone thinks Yukari is a bad, no, not one of the best characters, he doesn't even know what writing means, and if I hear them praise the P4 female characters after that, I will know I'm facing a clown.
@@wl4810 I can see people enjoying the characters of persona 4 and 5 more, but I would argue that p3 has the best written characters by far (p2s cast I would say could be better but I have yet to play EP, so its hard for me to judge them)
I think this is what most people think tbh. Persona 5’s story and characters just aren’t as good as the other games but it’s gameplay is definitely it’s strongest aspect
P2 duology has the best story and characters, P5 has best gameplay, P3P is the best all around (of the nu-persona), P4G is the easiest jumping on point.
I think you may be forgetting how everything Dark and grey about P3 was meant to be that way; that game literally is entirely about death and coming to terms with it
I think people also forget that it's meant for you to appreciate life even if you know death will come. It's even further proved with FEMC's existence. Door-kun's journey is to come into terms with death and accepting it will happen, then he starts to appreciate life. On the opposite side, FEMC already appreciates life and finds the reason as to why death happens. This is all tied to the final answer that both of them experience by the end of the game.
Why are you dissing P3's Battle theme??? Mass Destruction is Awesome. So is Wiping All Out. P3 has the best soundtrack in my opinion. P4 is good too, but I don't like P5's battle theme.
You know I like last supprise....but there was a point where it Kept on playing and playing that I was just tired of the song that I bought a p4 costume pack for a new song than last supprise
3 kinds of persona player. -starts from p4...backtrack to p3, p2, p1 then says its bad because its not like p4. -starts from p5 then backtrack to p4, p3, p2 and p1 and says its bad because it doesnt play like p4 and the oh so perfect p5... -starts from p1 until p5 and appreciate all the uniqueness of each of em.
The way you talk about the protagonist as if they're in the same vicinity as each other makes me picture them as siblings going through these events together and i think I'm gonna cry from how precious that thought is.
As I understand it, there is a way to level up the female confidants in P3 without starting to date them, but I'm guessing it's less obvious how to make it seem like you just want to be friends. You probably build less affinity with them that way, as well.
About the Female main character: she actually has an official name. Her name is Kotone Shiomi which is from a play version of Persona 3. Its also in a Puzzle and Dragons game for some reason. So yeah, Makoto Yuki and Kotone Shiomi. Although I would like to see more female mains. There's Maya, Sumire, and Kotone, but that's all there is.
(before watching the video) I feel like FES gives you a more complete version of "the journey", being able to get more attached to aegis with her social link makes the game all the more powerful. An optional second story shouldn't drag a game down, the key word is optional... Though if you play the answer, that ruins the message of the journey by giving the story a "happy ending" Haven't played portable, but as long as you don't play the FEMC, I assume all it does is improve upon the combat.
The Answer doesn't give the story a happy ending. Makoto is still dead anyways, the only good part of The Answer is that the characters learn to push forward and accept his death, which I think was needed.
Played Persona 3 FES on PS3. Going from P5 to P3 was a but rough. Not controing your party, weaker social links, Tartarus being upstairs Mementoes. Also much slower pace in story. But love the story and especially the ending.
Luckily, with a few patches and settings I managed to speed up tartarus, control party members, have widescreen, revamped 4K models and textures, 60fps, and more on an ANDROID TABLET
Yeah I never understood the opinion of "Persona 3 is the best in the series!" It has way to many problems both narratively and mechanically, and yet people just pretend a lot of those issues simply don't exist because they're either too nostalgic for the game or claim the themes of existentialism are better than the themes in other Persona games... Admittedly P3 did have a powerful theme, especially in the ending, but that theme was soured quite a bit by the P3 story expansions. Like Being able to bring Chidori back to life in the most laughably stupid way possible, preventing Shinjiro from dying in the FemC story, and the most egregious one... the constant implication in the Answer and even other Persona spinoffs that the P3 protagonist has a way of being saved from his fate
Wonder if the way characters summon Persona in 3 is tied to the theme of the game, "death" and the phrase "Memento Mori". Like you have to be able to overcome the "fear" of death or something along the line. Accepting the fact that you cannot escape death and overcome it, by then you are able to call forth the Persona. Dunno why I don't see many people mention about the way P3 character summon Persona. But I like to think that way. For the gameplay I don't have to comment on P3. It's a prototype to 4 and 5, so it's natural that it would have these flaws. It is bad on its own but I don't see much reason to compare this to 4 and 5 since those games have the upgrade gameplay, it's gonna be better. And it's why P3P also has the upgraded battle system from P4.
I never had an issue with time management I just played this game for the first time and I never had a social link reverse and I maxed out all but 3 social links and I didn’t find it that hard and i played it on hard mode
is aigis in p3 fes or just in portable? i just beat p4 and started fes but haven't met her yet. i hope she's in fes, she reminds me a lot of kos-mos from xenosaga from the little of her i saw in this vid, and kos-mos is one of my favorite game characters ever.
I recall seeing a video that mentioned the Jealousy system in one of their videos (one of Fither's i believe) and said it's the best of the systems (Though i agree you shouldn't be forced into a lovers route, but it's more them loving you in P3, the closest thing to MC loving something is Elizabeth) of the social link system in both the relationship sense and non romantic partners.
Year late, I enjoyed the review. There are defiantly things I disagree with, I much prefer SEES over the Investigation Team and I also found the beginning of P4 to be way harder then P3, it felt like P4 didn't give me enough information to beat the first few dungeons without dying several times while in P3 it always felt like my fault. I will say I played P3P so maybe FES would change that.
well to be fair, Ren's parents basically abandon him/kick him out of his house and send him to live with a stranger. That already heavily implies Ren doesn't have a very good relationship with his parents
That isn't necessarily true. Ren was expelled and and as far as we know Shujin was the only school willing to accept him. he probably left his home because commuting to the city daily would be impossible.
Joseph Hufford I also think that because of his probation he can’t have ties to his old life. Parents and people he knew are cut off until he fulfill his probation
Not being able to explore 3d environments would be a deal breaker for me. I couldn't imagine playing P4 and the only place I could explore was the dungeons...
You mention a lot of comparisons to Persona 4 in general with game mechanics, when they were really only added in P4G. (Like if you die you only get sent back to the last floor, picking cards in shuffle time, etc.) Other than that and glossing over a few characters, this was a pretty good vid.
Thanks for the feedback. :) Unfortunately if I had talked about every single character in great detail, then the video would've been a hell of a lot longer, haha. It may have even lead to a few minor spoilers, so I chose to keep it as brief as I could get away with, similar to what I did with the Persona 4 video.
2:22 well the psp only used these really tiny discs that could only hold like 1.2GB so they had to cut corners and decided to keep the dungeon crawling in, I don’t really know how powerful it actually is.
First off I like your vid and I'm glad you're honest with your opinions 🙏 There are some things I disagree with respectfully but I also think I can clarify. SEES is unique in the fact that they're not really supposed to be close and are more independent individually Since you've completed the game I'm sure you already know that they become more united towards the later portion. Yukari is kind of a bitch lol but she is a good person deep down As for the Yosuke comparison I think you were a little harsh on him in the P4 vid 😭 😂BUT if we're being real Junpei would easily be best friends with a guy like him so how far in personality are they really not to mention some of the P4 girls (Chie especially) do some dumb stuff Anyway this was an engaging vid sorry for the long post but great job regardless
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, even if you disagreed with some of the things I said. :) Thanks very much! Admittedly the ending scene with SEES was kind of nice, and after playing Persona 5 multiple times and Persona 5 Royal, Ryuji has gotten slightly worse over time, up until very late in the game where he redeemed himself more. I’d probably put him on the same level or just slightly below Yosuke now. And the only thing I can think of in regards to the P4 girls doing stupid stuff was not learning to cook (apart from Naoto), and when they’re bathing at the Amagi Inn when it’s the guys’ turn. Did you notice anything else? Thanks for the respectful comment anyway. :)
I kind of expected you to dress like Narukami for this one. Anyways great review! You wouldn't believe how much not friendzoning girls in this game annoyed me, even in the male route of Portable they didn't fix this. Also regarding names, Minato Yuki is actually Minato Arisato. There was never a Minato Yuki in the manga. The same applies for Minako, her name was Minako Arisato and not Yuki. Another thing I wanted to bring up was the Answer segment, I think you should've added a spoiler section due to the footage and when you mentioned Orpheus. But regardless, great review! Looking forward to when you talk about the spin offs.
Damn, it would've been a good idea to dress up like Yu, haha! Oh well. Thanks very much for the feedback! I do recall seeing the name Minato Arisato instead of Minato Yuki, but I also saw Minato Yuki online somewhere (can't quite remember, maybe on one of the wikis), so I wasn't sure which one to go with. I'll be sure to correct myself in the next Persona related video. As for the Answer spoiler, I hadn't considered it that way when I put it in, since I already knew before playing that Aigis could use multiple personas, but I suppose if I didn't have knowledge of that and someone approached me saying that she has Orpheus, I wouldn't know how to take that. My apologies anyway if that was ruined a little for you. Thanks again!
Can’t remember exactly where I found it, but now when I try looking it up, all I see is Minato Arisato, so it seems that I was wrong. I’m fine with either Makoto Yuki or Minato Arisato.
I always imagine the reason why the parents of the protagonist don't ever call him in 4 and 5 is in 4, they say that Yu's parents are very busy, meaning for the 2nd year of high school, he has to live with his uncle, meaning he has to transfer to a new school and, well, that I agree is off. But for 5, for that, I always imagine that Ren's parents actually believe in the false claims which caused him to get expelled from school and they want nothing to do with their son because of this and they agree to send him far away, basically like with Saori's parents in P3P. Also, for 3, while it doesn't really come to play in the game, except for a few Social Links, especarlly in P3P where sometimes when you spend time with the male party members durring a rank up, they bring up the fact that she doesn't have parents and they feel for her in different ways, but in the Persona 3 movies, they added in an important plot point to that where Minato actually has amnesia and can't remember what exactly happened 10 years ago, but do receive flashbacks of it, but the missing pieces does slowly come back to him as the films progress. I do find that added plot point interesting and hope that's something they could bring into the P3 remake and have it be like with in P5 where that part with Ren getting arrested, as the game progresses, he slowly get clues to know the person who gave his record is and then at the end, he finally finds him and has a big motive for wanting to steal his heart, much like the other Phantom Thieves members did before. This is one of the other main reasons why players view him less as a blank silent main character purely written to represent the player and more as his own character since you normally wouldn't see a blank silent protagonist have this kinda background and having the motive of wanting to find the one responsible and get his revenge on them.
Not sure, honestly. I’ve never played them before. Had a look at a couple of them and they didn’t seem all that appealing to me, personally, though I do hear good things about the Digital Devil Saga, which seems more interesting, due to the more visual flair.
@@TrashorTreasure It all depends on what you like really. Smt 3 nocturne and digital devil saga 1/2 have gsmeplay similar to persona 3/4/5, nocturne being the game and engine that pioneered the general style. Stories are definitely darker and tend to focus on themes as a whole vs singular characters if that makes sense. They are all really good and i would recommend any persona fan to try them. Persona 3/4/5 like gameplay: smt 3 nocturne, digital devil 1/2 Tactics strat ala FE? : devil survivor 1 and 2 Classic dungeon crawl: strange journey redux. Even if you don't make vids, should try some of em out. I think you might enjoy it.
I’ll definitely be picking up them someday. Thanks for the recommendations. :) Might start with Nocturne or DDS then. I’ll consider doing at least one video dedicated to a SMT game, just not sure which one or when that’ll happen.
Yeah, all you thoughts on both versions is one of the main reasons why I'm hoping for a full HD remake of Persona 3, and I also hope that each of the full moon operations play out like a mini Palace from Persona 5 wish there were more of the event scenes like an extra part of the Inaba trip in the female route which involves stopping by Aiya for a bite and running into a 14 year old Chie there, along with keeping the part of meeting Yukiko and staying at the Amagi Inn and also that the Kyoto trip is kinda similar to the Hawaii trip from Persona 5, but still maintain it's most memorable parts like the bathhouse incident, and also include new events like a Valentines Day event, though I'm not sure how they would be able to include something like this in the game considering the main plot, but they could work around it and make the event being a promise you've made with your lover similar to how the main game ends, and another interesting thing they could do with it is have the male route being that the girls gives you chocolate while the female protagonist version play out very similar to the new White Day event from Persona 5 Royal where you give the guy a box of chocolate, purely because have you noticed in all Valentines Day events in each Persona game always involves the girl you spend time with giving you chocolate and you don't give her anything in return? Well, this is because in Japan and other Asian countries, Valentines Day is when the girl gives chocolate to the boy she loves while White Day, which takes place exactly one month after Valentines Day is when the boy returns the favor. And one thing about this is if you choose to date more than one person, then, the day you would normally make the promise to, which could be with what they think is one final date with your lover on the Promise Day durring daytime, the people you've romanced with will try to ask you out, but will get pissed off at you when seeing that you're dating another person and the promise will never get made, meaning the Valentines Day event will never take place. That would finally be the big major consequence for choosing to go down the harem route, which I felt the female route of Persona 3 Portable lacked, a big consequence that you can't get out of or avoid for choosing to date more than one person because if you think about it, while the male route came with consequences for going down the harem route, the female route on the other hand, it didn't have any sorta consequences, anything to stop you from just choosing to date all the guys. There's one Tartarus interaction that happens though, but that's it and it can easily be avoided or go off undiscovered. And I'd rather they'd bring back The Answer, but have it as paid DLC instead of being included in the base game. Also, I'm sure the reason or the female to not really have a canon name is because before, the names of the protagonists came from either the manga or anime adaptations, Persona 3 Portable, specifically the female version, never got an anime adaptation or manga adaptation, but there are two common names given to her by fans being Hamuko, which is what the Japanese fans refer to her as and Minako Arisato, which is an altered version of the male protagonist's manga name, Minato Arisato. Well, actually, there's one time where she was officially given a name, which is in the Persona 3 stage adaptations which many people do consider it to be her canon name, being Kotone Shiomi, this name was even used for the character for the returning Persona event for a mobile game called Puzzle & Dragons where they introduced new Persona characters for you to attain and use, one of those new characters was FeMC. Well, I'm sure you never even heard of the Persona stage adaptations, so, I don't blame you for if you never heard of the name Kotone Shiomi before.
atlas has a thing for having characters from other persona games show up for example persona 1 characters appear in 2 as cameos and three as party members but in persona 3 no one from persona 2 shows up....i can understand the innocent sin team not showing up because they don't remember what happened but what about the eternal punishment team their nowhere to seen...
Geez maybe Saori ended up being a hidden female main protag for P5 with false bad reputation like that. She even had to transfer schools because of it...
Let me yell you something about your thoughts on Yukari. I get that you don't like her and that's fine, but to me, she is actually a very human character and there are people in real life who are like her, as I know what's it's like living with people with high anxiety disorder, but it doesn't mean I hate them. In fact, this video by Bubbletea did an analyzes on her and he actually does a great job at explaining it in full detail. ruclips.net/video/iZG6vXeUkLc/видео.html
Sony just recently changed the PSN Store, which will be why you can’t see it. Only PS4 and PS5 games can be bought on desktops and phones, and if you want any PS3/PSP/Vita games, you now have to buy them on the respective consoles.
The fatigue system isn't that bad. On top of not needing to rush through Tartarus (meaning needing to redo floors because you needed to return to ground floor to heal isn't that big of a deal), the system is hella exploitable. I don't know all the ins and outs to it, but I do know that using the toilets can help restore you status and even improve it to whatever the heightened status is called, and you can go to the Nurse's Office when fatigued to either drink a placebo potion to increase your courage or reject it and get another potion that can be used in combat and is needed for an Elizabeth sidequest. Fatigue may be a bit rough early on, but it's very easy to take advantage of, and that's ignoring the fact that it's just not a problem near endgame beyond the minibosses (which why are you shocked they're hard knowing this is an SMT/Persona/Atlus RPG game and that the Full Moon Shadows are jokes?). The only real problem is that you can't do anything for your teammates to get them into "heightened" status.
Persona 3 while being the best game in the series I think needs a remake cuz anime adaptation exists. And its good. Almost the best way to experience persona 3 at this point
Did this kid diss the city by saying that the persona 3 city looked bleak? That’s the point. The game is about death. Also he was being harsh on the music. I mean the music is 🔥. Sure there are problems with the game like the ai controlled party, only having one dungeon, or a bit of wasted potential. But think about it for a sec, the game had a limited budget and only two years to work on this. The good outweighs the bad here. And the game was a template for 4 and 5.
Someone has probably said this already, but the reason P3 main character has two names is because one (Makoto Yuki) comes from the anime and the other (Minato Arisato) comes from the manga. (Kinda like how Yu Narukami's alternate name in the manga is Soji Seta.) I hear that P3 female main got a cannon name a couple years ago, too: Kotone Shiomi.
Imagine being a female protagonist in P5 where: The police drugs and abuses you physically The first boss is a sexual harasser teacher that could easily beat up male joker, so imagine a female joker. The implications are too much, a female protag in 5 would be a hell to develop and deal with.
Personally I prefer Yosuke over Junpei, Junpei as a first impression he is self righteous and egocentric Yosuke is not those things, I actually really like Yosuke,
@@TrashorTreasure to be honest the reason I really grew to like him is because his major character arc is about him growing past that flaw, and coming to better understand himself and the purpose of his life (the chidori stuff was fine, because thematic character arc, but not as integral to the character)
So, I’m gonna say a few thoughts on Persona 3. I have mixed feelings on this game. It has the best story of the game hands down. Can’t even argue it. I feel like this story is more of an allegory about suicide. The story is about a group of suicidal kids banding together, talking about it so much it loses meaning to them (think about each use of the evoker being a conversation about dying. It starts out shocking but eventually it’s barely noteworthy). At the end, they form a suicide pact. MC literally faces death down. He goes through with his suicide. In killing himself, everyone else realizes the value of life and goes on. As time goes on, they forget about him and his sacrifice because it’s just an event in their life. MC’s death ends up being for nothing. Everyone is shocked when the Dark Hour pulls them in at the end. That’s when he kills himself. As soon as it’s over, they all forget instantly, just like hearing about a suicide irl and when people just say “that sucks.” It takes a little while longer for SEES to move on, but they do it eventually. He creates an illusion in his head where the world wrapped up neatly at the end. But the reality is that his death barely affected anyone. It’s literally just about himself working up to committing suicide and finally going through with it. I love how ambiguous the story is. I hated it at first because I think Tartarus is horrible. But at the end, the story works as both an allegory and an actual story. Still hate the gameplay tho
Many thanks. :) A few of my thoughts on the game have changed, especially after playing Perrsonas 1 and 2, but I overall have a little more appreciation for P3 than I did before.
This was very helpful, I'm about 9 hours in at the moment and I felt like I needed an outside opinion as how it stacks up compared to P5 which I'm in love with.
My second favorite Persona after persona 2 I'm not a fan of Modern persona personaly I actually cared about the characters in these and personally don't care about it these days I'll give P5 Royal a look eventually though. And Strikers I've been waiting for SMT V
Makoto Yuki or Minato Arisato, Minato Yuki doesn't exist. Minato Arisato was his original Canon name, After for anime movies came out he was renamed to Makoto Yuki.
Damn, I checked out this review among some other ones to see what version of P3 I should pick up, but the moral of the story seems to pretty much be : "the best version of the game doesn't really exist but maybe it will someday so let's just wait for a third remake". The game really sounds like an unbalanced BDSM relationship, and dealing with all the thorns just to get the occasional petal doesn't really sound appealing. I've checked out the four movies though, they have their moments but give very few context at times, and are pretty much a "count the evangelion references"-challenge with some greek mythology painted over them to make them look a bit less like the neighbor's homework. Overall I'm sure P3 has a lot of qualities, but they look tangled in-between so many turn-offs that it's hard to feel like it's worth the trouble.
Apparently according to Persona 3's YMMV[Your milage may vary] page, Yukari is actually very popular in Japan compared to here in America. I don't know why Yukari is more popular in Japan, but I think it has to do with cultural differences between America and Japan. It was also how I learned about why having a criminal record is one of the worst things in Japan for Persona 5's values dissonance which comes as a result of not knowing much about Japan's culture. I like learning about other cultures because that way we can see why a certain society would act a certain way compared to another. I's recommend it so that way you can at least try to understand why Japan like Yukari compared to most Americans who like considering her as a "bitch." I see Megumi Togoyuchi doning her Cure Beat persona and punishing Americans who dislike Yukari for not understanding Japan's culture. Megumi Togoyuchi is Yukari's Japanese Voice Actress
Apparently for people who hugged Yukari for her trauma and made her mad, apparently in Japan, hugging is intimate in Japan rather than a sign of friendship. I have no idea why but that's what I've found. I've heard that Japan is high-context for culture, and since it doesn't promote individualism, that's not my type of culture.
ok the points about tartarus ok but THE SOUNDTRACK IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!!OHH AND IF YOU WHANT TO LISTEN TOO YOURE BEAT THE TURN OFF THE GAME SUNDS AND LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM YOURE MP3 PLAYER
Emulating FES with a couple mods (more exp, controlling party members) is probably the best way to play the game. Its definitely not for everyone and definitely has its flaws but I've enjoyed quite a but of it so far (currently at 12/10) plus I'm a huge fan of the music and the themes which personally do some carrying
What I gather from Persona 3 and 4 levels is that it feels like a exploring Mementos due to randomly generated maps and repetitive grind. Am I wrong cause I only played P5 and am currently playing Royal.
P5 has the benefit of choosing to make all the main dungeons by design. P4 and P3 have randomly generated dungeons, the only exception being specific floors. I believe Mementos is supposed to be a callback to the system from the older games
"why is FemC the only female you can play as in this series?"
Maya: "am I a joke to you?"
Julian Robertson Aigis: am I what you call a joke too
I came to make the same comment lol
Julian Robertson First thing I wanted to say
@@makotoyuki345 But aigis is aigis.
Van Dai Tran You can still play as her so she counts.
I think saying that the male and female protagonists were basically the same is not true. The Male version is moody, cool, and distant, while the female version is outgoing, energetic, and fun. You can tell through the dialogue, music choices, and even later games like pq2 that they're distinct.
Quite true. Especially in PQ2 ( I absolutely adore the female protagonist in that game)!
Not true. Their dialogue options are identical
@@shioririn there's no masked depression, not even once in the game is that shown or foreshadowed.
no they think the same according to atlus
I personally loved the fact that they felt more like co workers, it felt natural. The way they developed into friends was amazing to watch.
Is people being friends somehow unnatural?
@@BitchChill no its just that there is a difference between being acquaintances and friends
I think this is much better than just giving them s-links as soon as they become party members, as it really leads to no in story development being available, or at least used (as shown in 3&4)
Personally I like the character development here than in P5. Most of the characters in P5 are undeveloped.
i thought they were developed well enough but it was a little too simplified. just finished p4 and i thought it was cool that some relationships could go backwards. i think they should have added even more depth to that in p5 but they got rid of it entirely instead, which is disappointing. i would like it better if choices would strengthen some bonds and weaken others, making it much more in depth and much more difficult to obtain a lot of high level links. it just feels like another case of simplifying a game in order to draw in more casual players, which is a shame for those of us who would prefer the opposite. p5 was my first persona game and i still think it's amazing, but after playing 4 i can't help but see how much more amazing 5 could have been.
And someone might say "What's the problem with people developing in social links?"
Social Links are, actually, optional.
@@raggysack2890 The point of social links is developing characters and if someone doesn't bother to complete them it's their problem not the game's

LMAO
Dude really likes P5
🤣
So she has a point for acting that way
I mean, would you really hate someone who suffered the 5 stages of grief because someone they loved made a sacrifice?
True her actions are realistic, many people probably would risk it all to save the one they loved. However, it's still infuriating watching her completely disregard everyone else's opinion and potentially endanger the entire world just for this one guy.
So...there was a canon love interest?
Sure thing, I ain't got anything better to do"
P4 can kinda get away with it, because Inaba being in the middle of bumfuck nowhere is the motivation of multiple characters, so I can buy Kanji, Chie and Teddie not having anything better to do, but Yosuke, Yukiko and Naoto all have responsibilities, but are just ready to go into the tv whenever
i mean with how high the stakes are in p5 it makes sense that they'd put aside their everyday priorities to deal with the palace stuff
I mean, just because it’s realistic doesn’t mean it’s a good game mechanic in any way.
Next thing you're going to say is that leaving your teammates to A.I. was a great decision.

If only you knew how many times I rage quit because I died a few times. I tried to rush in Tartarus just to get a good head start to the mini bosses.
>P3P
>hard
What?
U sound like you just trash don't play any other shin megami tensei game or you might hurt yourself

Chrollo Lucifer in what way?

P3:Makoto Yuki(Anime) and Minato Arisato(Manga)
P4:Yu Narukami(Anime) and Souji Seta(Manga)
P5:Ren MAMAMIYA(Anime) and Akira Kurusu(Manga)
Heads up
Its Makoto Yuki- Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight
Yu Narukami- literally everything
Ren Anamonopia- P5 dancing in starlight
@@absolutetr4sh551 Sure, but the main media is the games, and the developers wanted the player to totally get in the protagonist role (Thats why the design of the are more simple than the one of your companion, you know hentai mc style), still i think you right, when im not playing them i refer to them with their anime/manga name Minato Yuki, Yu Narukami, Ren Amamiya
Dreamer Thief The (most) canon name for each protagonist:
3: Makoto Yuki (anime + crossovers into other series's)
4: Yu Narukami (literally everything besides the manga)
5: Ren Amamiya (anime + dancing)
Atlus themeselves never states explicitly that the names are canon, but when you use them so much in official canon entries like the dancing games and you submit them to other unrelated series's of games for use, I take them as being effectively canonized.
It was not the first game that atlus made with a dating function. The second growlanser had a dating option
Daaamn, Take Over over Mass Destruction? Yiiikes.
Makoto Yuki is from the persona 3 movies
But which is better mass destruction or wiping all out
David Gonzalez Now that’s a tough one!
(Aside from velvet bosses)
6) "I know it's older than Persona 4 and Persona 5, so I shouldn't expect as much depth" kind of annoyed me, not gonna lie.
Preach my nigga
Ngl you riding P3 like a horse in that comment
I agree with most of the things said here, but, "best character development" of any Persona game (You may be referring to modern titles, but since there's no context) isn't quite right when the duology of Persona 2 exists
@@PotatoBrotato Wait there's a personal 2? I thought persona started at persona 3
Lol you meat riding The hell outta this game buddy
To be fair, the bleak and grungy feeling of the Iwatodai area was intentional to make it feel like a rougher, seedier city.
Listen to the Iwatodai Dorm song. And the game itself is already an instant treasure.
Just here saying P3 is getting a remake but Atlus is making petition on it.
So if you please, vote for thr remake at Atlus twitter
Nugget no ATLUS remaking it scared me they will add a new shitty arc to the game like they always do
@@raidoukuzonoha883 i mean it's literally impossible to add a new month considering the story
[insert name] atlus will find a way my friend trust me
[insert name] they bullshitted P5s plot to get royals new arc in granted that’s the best arc in the game but still
I like how people complain about yukari being mean as a bad thing when it is actually played to be an important character development.
CastL yeah, you are spitting facts as well
@@wl4810 I can see people enjoying the characters of persona 4 and 5 more, but I would argue that p3 has the best written characters by far (p2s cast I would say could be better but I have yet to play EP, so its hard for me to judge them)
P3: best story
P4: best characters
P5: best gameplay
That's what I think anyway.
I think this is what most people think tbh. Persona 5’s story and characters just aren’t as good as the other games but it’s gameplay is definitely it’s strongest aspect
I think that Persona 2 has the best story
Tech Mark what about persona 1? I was thinking about trying the older games soon
@@EyehatePersona5 A tip, P1 and P2 are different from the modern games in the fact that P2 is an actual sequel, so it's better to play P1 first.
P2 duology has the best story and characters, P5 has best gameplay, P3P is the best all around (of the nu-persona), P4G is the easiest jumping on point.
I think you may be forgetting how everything Dark and grey about P3 was meant to be that way; that game literally is entirely about death and coming to terms with it
And this is why I think P3 has the best story in the series it has a theme that makes you think long after you finish it and it is a powerful theme.
@@xecillmaze4740 though it does appear the creator of this video may have missed the mark there sadly. Which is unfortunate.
Kinda amusing you talked about the romance stuff in Portable with Junpei there, because you cannot actually romance Junpei.
Why are you dissing P3's Battle theme??? Mass Destruction is Awesome. So is Wiping All Out. P3 has the best soundtrack in my opinion. P4 is good too, but I don't like P5's battle theme.
The haters will be your... LAST SURPRISE
I think Last Surprise is amazing battle theme. BUT ! Mass Destruction is awesome !
Music tastes are subjective though.
You know I like last supprise....but there was a point where it Kept on playing and playing that I was just tired of the song that I bought a p4 costume pack for a new song than last supprise
@@a_boring_male That's how I feel about Life will Change. The final area had it playing on loop got on my nerves
Tbh I never liked any of the random battle themes (except Wiping all out).
“Why is she the only female protagonist you can play as in this series” persona 2 fans are fuming right now
3 kinds of persona player.
I’m the 4th kind who played persona 5 royal then went to portable and agrees with people who say 3 is fantastic
The way you talk about the protagonist as if they're in the same vicinity as each other makes me picture them as siblings going through these events together and i think I'm gonna cry from how precious that thought is.
Mai from persona 2 eternal punishment, p3p protag isnt the only female MC in the series
yooo thank you so much for doing this p3 fes is my favorite game of all time
As I understand it, there is a way to level up the female confidants in P3 without starting to date them, but I'm guessing it's less obvious how to make it seem like you just want to be friends.
Baby baby baby baby baby baby!
We are on different pages here. I love that song. It's so much fun to start out a battle that way.
The Portable version being harder but let you have benefits in gameplay is a trade that is manageable, fair? Maybe I guess
It's Treasure, because we can date Shinji and Aki.
I love coming across this video, as im finishing Persona 3 Portable for the first time right now, right before Reload comes out
(before watching the video)
I feel like FES gives you a more complete version of "the journey", being able to get more attached to aegis with her social link makes the game all the more powerful.
An optional second story shouldn't drag a game down, the key word is optional... Though if you play the answer, that ruins the message of the journey by giving the story a "happy ending"
Haven't played portable, but as long as you don't play the FEMC, I assume all it does is improve upon the combat.
Oh it breaks the game cuz it wasn’t designed around P4 mechanics
The Answer doesn't give the story a happy ending. Makoto is still dead anyways, the only good part of The Answer is that the characters learn to push forward and accept his death, which I think was needed.
Dude i love persona i just watched all your reviews instant sub
Thanks very much! I’m really glad you enjoyed them. :)
Persona 2 has fusion spells too.
It doesn't function the same way tho
Persona what?
It is not a prototype, it is a simplification of Nocturne's combat system to fit in with the tactics system.
She is in FES. You’ll know she’s nearby when SEES take a trip to Yakushima after a few full moons.
9:15 "Crackhead Floating Vampire Jesus"
I don't know how to feel about this video
but I'm informed now
I love the line, "I have a girlfriend, chill your beans."
never heard that line before XD
17:11 dude unless you talking about p4 golden, when you dies in p4 you don't keep your progress. You get boot-it back to your last save point.
Persona 3 *NEEDS* to be remade with better graphics and having elements to be more like Persona 5.
Not being able to explore 3d environments would be a deal breaker for me. I couldn't imagine playing P4 and the only place I could explore was the dungeons...
Did you used to have another channel? One this used to be a mini series on?
Nope, just this one. :)
@@TrashorTreasure It wasn't ruined at all, no apology necessary since I already played it. Again, looking forward to what's coming up next.
28:29 made me laugh xDD "needy assholes" LMFAO
You ever gonna touch on the main shin megami tensei series?
Not sure, honestly. I’ve never played them before. Had a look at a couple of them and they didn’t seem all that appealing to me, personally, though I do hear good things about the Digital Devil Saga, which seems more interesting, due to the more visual flair.
@@TrashorTreasure
It all depends on what you like really.
Persona 3/4/5 like gameplay: smt 3 nocturne, digital devil 1/2
Tactics strat ala FE? : devil survivor 1 and 2
Classic dungeon crawl: strange journey redux.
@@TrashorTreasure cool look forward to it! Hope yah have fun.
Well, I'm sure you never even heard of the Persona stage adaptations, so, I don't blame you for if you never heard of the name Kotone Shiomi before.
atlas has a thing for having characters from other persona games show up for example persona 1 characters appear in 2 as cameos and three as party members
but in persona 3 no one from persona 2 shows up....i can understand the innocent sin team not showing up because they don't remember what happened
but what about the eternal punishment team their nowhere to seen...
In fact, this video by Bubbletea did an analyzes on her and he actually does a great job at explaining it in full detail. ruclips.net/video/iZG6vXeUkLc/видео.html

aw hell no you did not just say that about mass destruction.

I like the atmosphere of P3 more than other Persona games
Usually want I do is I play portable for the better experience but pause the game and watch the anime cutscenes on RUclips when I know they come up.
MrSecretSentai Interesting idea. If only there was a way to combine FES’s cutscenes to Portable through emulation or something.
4:59 how did you find the game on the playstation store?? I can only see ps4 and ps5 games

Yea but it has no English dub and it’s really hard to watch without buying it
Minato Arisato or Makoto Yuki, and Minako Arisato for the female MC. You combined the anime and manga names to make a new one. Just a heads up
Did this kid diss the city by saying that the persona 3 city looked bleak? That’s the point. The game is about death. Also he was being harsh on the music. I mean the music is 🔥. Sure there are problems with the game like the ai controlled party, only having one dungeon, or a bit of wasted potential. But think about it for a sec, the game had a limited budget and only two years to work on this. The good outweighs the bad here. And the game was a template for 4 and 5.
Whining about Yukari being rude to a serial sex pest like Junpei, lmao ok dude
Never singled out Junpei in this video, but she is rude to most people.
4:34 Uhhh… Maya?
He was being a bit harsh on the ost. I believe the soundtrack is perfect. He was also a bit harsh on the game’s shuffle time imo
I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who thought Yukari was a bitch, lmao!🤣
Man, Joker sure talks a lot
Imagine being a female protagonist in P5 where:
The police drugs and abuses you physically
The first boss is a sexual harasser teacher that could easily beat up male joker, so imagine a female joker.
The implications are too much, a female protag in 5 would be a hell to develop and deal with.
especially the sjw's i like how atlus kinda doesnt give fuck about the sjw's lol
Personally I prefer Yosuke over Junpei, Junpei as a first impression he is self righteous and egocentric Yosuke is not those things, I actually really like Yosuke,
That’s a fair enough point. I wasn’t too big on Junpei’s ego either, which was part of the reason why he’s not my favorite of the SEES members.
@@TrashorTreasure to be honest the reason I really grew to like him is because his major character arc is about him growing past that flaw, and coming to better understand himself and the purpose of his life (the chidori stuff was fine, because thematic character arc, but not as integral to the character)
Plus he's voiced by Yuri
This game is about how life can be over at anytime so why not try to live it to the fullest hence why Memento mori is brought up in the intro
I don’t know if anyone’s informed you yet, but I just wanted to let you know that the FEMC’s official name has been confirmed to be Kotone Shiomi
Yes, this video came out before the Persona 3 play did, as well as the P3P remasters that use Kotone Shiomi as her canon name. Thank you though.
I know I’m late but while I disagree on a lot of your opinions but it’s cool you just earned a sub keep up the good work
Many thanks. :) A few of my thoughts on the game have changed, especially after playing Perrsonas 1 and 2, but I overall have a little more appreciation for P3 than I did before.
@@TrashorTreasure good for you mate hope you had a fun time
This was very helpful, I'm about 9 hours in at the moment and I felt like I needed an outside opinion as how it stacks up compared to P5 which I'm in love with.
Most people who played all of them say It's better than p5 just the game play is a bit dated
00:34 by the way. You ever want to review SW: Kotor for your channel? I'd like that :D
I's recommend it so that way you can at least try to understand why Japan like Yukari compared to most Americans who like considering her as a "bitch."
I see Megumi Togoyuchi doning her Cure Beat persona and punishing Americans who dislike Yukari for not understanding Japan's culture.
Megumi Togoyuchi is Yukari's Japanese Voice Actress
Apparently for people who hugged Yukari for her trauma and made her mad, apparently in Japan, hugging is intimate in Japan rather than a sign of friendship. I have no idea why but that's what I've found. I've heard that Japan is high-context for culture, and since it doesn't promote individualism, that's not my type of culture.
ok the points about tartarus ok but THE SOUNDTRACK IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!!OHH AND IF YOU WHANT TO LISTEN TOO YOURE BEAT THE TURN OFF THE GAME SUNDS AND LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM YOURE MP3 PLAYER
megami tensei brought me here son......
YOU DONT DISS ON MAYA....
11:59 I am recently aware of Yukari's dumb reasoning in the answer, but I still don't hate her.
Am I wrong cause I only played P5 and am currently playing Royal.
yeah, basically i got too spoiled from playing persona 4, persona 5 first,
P5 has the benefit of choosing to make all the main dungeons by design. P4 and P3 have randomly generated dungeons, the only exception being specific floors. I believe Mementos is supposed to be a callback to the system from the older games
