Persona 5 Royal for me was a step up from the Original. Spoiler alert for stuff past this point. Kasumi aka Sumire was such an amazing character my 1b Waifu to Futaba. I believe the reason why you couldn’t sprint in Vanilla P5, was to emphasize the connection between the real world and the Metaverse. Recall after clearing Kamoshida’s palace Ryuji suddenly can’t catch up and falls behind due to his injured leg. In the Metaverse, your normal physical characteristics (i.e. your speed, probably your pain endurance) are enhanced. Ergo, this is why you can naturally run faster in the Metaverse. I believe they changed this, since it was not convenient.

its that i didnt know curse damages the green robots and exclusively relied on haru even tho i had a stronger curse persona then theres also the fact that if they all dont die in 2 turns they leave blow up and respawn with full health
Why would you stop the Alarm? Just end it with a sacrifice of a yellow Persona for extra stat boosts. Also, Okumura's boss fight is really simple. Especially considering that you get a chance to find weakneses beforehand. The only problem with it is that it is too easy. The only way you might call DLC Personas broken (When Lucifer,Alice, Maria and Yoshitsune are in the game) is by getting them from compendium and not fusion. Like, only Messiah and Izanagi-no-Okami shake things a bit, with Izanagi being less limited than Messiah's strict single Boss battles kit. Btw, Alice always had the same single fusion recipe for lore reasons, so this is an outright wrong claim. DLC Personas expand, not limit the recipe amount.
If only they added cutscenes for the villians when you stole all their willseeds, with how long the game is, I don't see why they don't show any consequence to the villians with stealing their willseeds, kinda make them feel tacked on and not that important in the lore(like the idea of them, just wish there was better execution)
Ah, I know the ones you mean. I dunno, I never thought those ones were quite as in your face as they were in Q2 and P5R, and they weren't as easily accessible, since you had to have both of the required characters in your party. I guess P4G technically did do that style of attack first within the series regardless, but in Q2 and P5R, they played a much bigger part.
Regardless of how much Atlus milking has ruined P5's reputation somewhat, I absolutely love P5 and P5 royal even more. I didn't expect much changes with Royal but I was very surprised at how much more I enjoyed it. Definitely up there with P3 and P2 as my favorite Persona game.
I really like this game. Not more than P4 Golden, but I still really like this game. This game easily has the best gameplay overall and the story and characters are pretty good. And the soundtrack is still as glorious as ever. In truth, I still believe Okumura's palace wasn't that bad and Kaneshiro's bank and Futaba's tomb can go blow me, but I still like the other Palaces for this game.
I actually played Persona 4, then really wanted to play persona 5, but didn’t have a ps4, so I bought a ps3 just to play it, so I was using my ps3 in 2017.
royal is the game that sumeted my stats as a fan i don't regret buying again not helping it the last new game i bought with my father sad he passed on so i love it
I love how the price point is a flaw when it's literally 20+ hours of new content. That's the length of TLOU2... And people hated that game. If you loved Persona 5 then paying 60 for Persona 5 Royal shouldn't be a problem. I bought the Deluxe edition for around 40 dollars in December of 2019 (I saw it on sale and decided to give it a go) and had no problem throwing in another 60 dollars around 3 or 4 months later for P5R. Man, was it worth it
Yeah but is the 20+ hours of new content even good or is it just boring filler? You gotta realize that whatever so called new content is added has to be really freakin good to even to be worth another 60 dollars. Regardless whether its good or not this is still a bad practice by devs to just farm more money, they couldve just made a cheaper expansion as an option to upgrade which wouldve been better plus the game still looks identical anyways but idiots like you will always buy up this shit and then complain later on about "why are devs putting season passes and loot boxes in everything?" Hmm i wonder why 🙄
CursedGman Have you played the game?! This isn’t an expansion, it’s a whole overhaul.to palaces, combat, dialogue, story, etc. The 20 hours of extra content are VERY GOOD. I can argue that those 20 hours are much better than most games out now. I have never complained about season passes since they actually add content. I will complain, however, if the content is bad. Loot boxes are no where near as bad as this. You literally don’t know what you’re getting, it’s not like an extra 60 dollars for 20-30 hours of gameplay or a season pass. You can literally see what you are getting before purchasing those two last items, something that loot boxes can’t. You calling me an idiot before doing some actual research is absurd. I loved the 20 extra hours, mementos overhaul, combat overhaul, 2 new party members, new palace, new personas, new cutscenes, new endings and improved graphics they gave me. I absolutely have NO problem with the 60 dollar price tag. TLOU2, FIFA, CoD has given far less for much more. It’s pretty much a different game, but an idiot like you loves comparing that to loot boxes.
FuckOuttaHere Persona 5 has no replay value so the first playthrough should be the best memorable experience , in royal they altered a lot of original aspects of the game and the whole new arc isn’t that much tbh
I think Persona 4 Golden and/or KH2 slightly beat out this game personally, but this game is one of the best experiences I've ever had playing a video game. Just overall fantastic, the new additions along with the semester and it's antagonist are what I never knew I needed. 10/10
Isn't... Normal mode easy to play? I know it's not easy mode, but I don't think the complaint that the game is easy on Normal mode is a valid complaint
Honestly, I really did not like Kasumi at all. She felt way too much like a Mary Su, having no flaws and being such a perfect girl that everyone loves. Even when she DOES get something, it's executed so poorly it just made me like her even less. I love Persona 5 Royal's new gameplay improvements, but I just do not care at all for the story stuff.
@@NicholasMonado I hadn't yet at the time of the comment. Having now, I still feel the same way about Kasumi, but I do think the third semester was really well done.
@@PlayerZeroStart I respect that opinion I personally really like sumire A lot in third semester but I’ll be honest with you I may be just a little biased because persona 5 Royal is my favorite game of all time
There really on 2 things I disagree with and its only during the intro. (This is going to hurt on the inside as I am a bit P5 fan lol.) Stating persona 5 has both the best cast and best story, something I greatly disagree with P5's story being the best in which I think P5 has the worst story of all the persona games and I think P3 and P2 both have a much better cast than 5, its on the same level as P4. I'd personally rank all the stories, from worst to best: 5, 1, 4, 3, and 2 duology. I'd rank the cast as follows as well: 1, 4/5, 2, 3. Great review overall tho.
I actually like that p4g has more goofy moments and wish p5r had more aswell. To me p5r has the better gameplay and third semester is brilliant but to me p4g has the better overall story and group dynamic.
Persona 5 Royal for me at first was nor worth it. Untill it got like 25% off on PSN and I got it. And no one is talking about small enhancements for the game, load screens that are almost instantaneous now and they upgraded the train load screens now making them so more beautiful with more characters there depending on the day if it's a holiday or not it will also change some of the people there. Hell you go to Akihabara in certain dates and the loadscreen will show a ton of otakus going there making cosplay. That's amazing XD Some flashy new stuff on screen to make the gmae more "Royal and Opulent" with those sparkly new effects around the screen on palaces (the Original had this but not those flashy jewel styles). I don't like that this game only show the new opening, before it was possible to watch both if you waited for some time on the title screen (P3F and P4G), but that's ok. There's a lot of small stuff you only notices if you play the original on the last three months. What was a letdown to me, not only the dificulty making the game feel easier (then again, Persona 4 Golden felt way easier than P4 Og), was that some confidants weren't changed. Ann confidant would be SO MUCH better if it only focused on her Struggles with Shiho, instead of focusing on modeling shit. Hell they could have put that modelling part to just one encounter of it instead of focusing on it. But well, that's that I guess. I still think P4 is funnier, Especially since you can practically make Yu Narukami gay for some characters which is actually hilarious. The closest option to that was on the third semester and it was a letdown because of the way they handled it. I still laugh my ass off when I remember I almost made Yu take Teddy's virginity while his uncle get on the house. It's so awkward and I live for those kind of shit. But in the end I think P5R is just way better than P5 just because of those TONS of improvements. I just think they should not put so many content locked by DLC, it kinda makes me sad.
Ah yes, I forgot about the faster load times. Thanks for bringing that up. Although I was not aware of the train transitions, Akihabara cosplayers, and sparkles around the screen during Palaces! I'll have to have another look at that during my next playthrough! I agree somewhat as well that maybe some Confidants could've had new story elements to them. Perhaps not to the extent of someone like Akechi where his entire Confidant is different, but just something to add another layer of depth. Even so, most of the Confidants were fine as they are.
Personally wasnt a big fan of the ending and its message and much preferred the rebellious bonds formed in the original. But overall royal is a much easier game and makes easy for anyone to have max stat personas if you give it some tedious leg work. Ive heard that people summoned Izanagi no okami from the dlc to get them out of a pinch but he is not needed as he is insanely op and makes merciless look like easy. Skill cards and yusuke are a lot more useful as high tier personas can drop drains and repels during an alarm and yusuke is able to duplicate a card in safe rooms but im not sure if that was in the original. The thieves den gives really good rewards and is where the actual challenge is for completionists as platinum has been made really easy in p5r. Completing the playstation trophies grants you individual phantom thieves avatars and dynamic themes if you have signed up to the playstation newsletter. These are all really cool and are nice out of game rewards. Intense focus will of the sword and mighty gaze are traits helpful for high damage dealers. Traits are easily transferable so experiment The best gear is acquired during a fusion alarm e.g itemizing satan for guys and messiah (free dlc) for girls Billiards increases your technical rank which increases the damage done in technical attacks while increasing knock down chance. Lastly abuse the jazz club, it gives team mates high tier skills like concentrate, debilitate and spell master while increasing their stats and total sp and hp. These abilities carry over to ng+ but require you to go to the church for the team mates to remember these skills in sequential playthroughs.
Persona 5 is a good game but its way too easy for my liking. All the new gameplay changes are nice on their own but together makes the game feel braindead.
I have to admit something that I want to get off my chest. It may involve spoilers so don’t read unless you have played all the way to around the third semester at least before reading my comment. I got myself banned from a streamer that was doing a Persona 5 Royal Merciless Stream thanks to spoiling part of the Third Semester’s events and certain characters having plot twists that are revealed in that Third Semester. I then spoiled something about the twists revolving around the vanilla final boss impersonating a character from the Velvet Room. Then I spoiled Caroline and Justine’s true form Lavenza by saying her introduction line in the stream chat. That last spoiler got me banned from the Streamer entirely and I am a stupid idiot for doing it. I feel bad for the people that got spoiled in the process and I swear to not spoil again in any chat again involving any game from now on. Now that I have got that out of my chest, I hope you have a good day.
I am just going to leave my piece here, I HATE royal. And mind you I LOVE P5 so why do I hate it you ask? well for starters let's start with the good 1: inherent baton pass, love it 2: more gun ammo, ya love to see it 3: new music is pretty good 4: the new boss changes are ok' except Okumura 5: mementoes is now really good, etc....... I do have other good thing I like about it but lets get to the part where I'm obtain the heretic title in ya'lls eyes. Things I hate. 1: sound design, all out attack went from a calm relaxing moment to"LOUD NOISES!!!!" I literally jumped the first time I did an all out attack. 2: new sprites, whoever made Ann look like the product of fifth gen incest I will skin you. 3:GIVE ME BACK TAE TAKEMI!!!!!!!!!!!! 4: yoshi, no not the good lookin one the redhead, she.........we'll get to her in a moment. 5: the entire third semester. And the here is where I really get branded a heretic, THE THIRD SEMESTER the biggest flaw of this game. 1: Yoshi, she is by far my most hated character ever, she feels so shoe horned in to the point where I was rolling my eyes, she has one of the STUPIDEST plot twists in anything, and she has no plot relevances, and when she does it feels so dang contrived. 2:the villain, WHERE IS THE GODDAMN CONFLICT!?!?!? like no seriously when I beat him I didn't feel a sense of "YES WOO-HOO I TOOK DOWN THE BAD GUY" because we aren't given a reason as to why we are opposing him it's so frustrating. but at the end of the day this was my experience and I don't speak for all players I just hope you guys can read through this and get on my level of understanding or something. also if I were doing a video this would have WWWWAAAYYY more fleshed out points opinions(aka I'm not good with expressing myself on pen and paper)
We opposed him because while his intentions were good, he still took away the ability to grow as a person. You don't change yourself for the better if you don't have a reason to, which is what happens when you are just given what you want. Just going along with him is a slap in the face of everything they worked for. It erases the suffering, yes, but also everything they learned from that experience.
@@kamatari1220 for an example of living up to this idea is altering time so everything they did never happened, make everyone in the phantom thieves a stranger because the phantom thieves never existed because there was never anything for them to change so none of them ever met and grow as people,
Persona needs a shake up and it's fanbase is fucking awful. The community suffers from weird unwillingness to play anything prior to their entry point game and will deep throat that game as a GOAT. P5R still stuffers from pacing issues and tone deaf writing. Yeah combat and dungeon crawling is fun but everything else is just not that good. Confidants only work if the characters are well written and when they aren't, it's a slog. Also not saying easy games can't be fun but this difficulty is insultingly low for a Persona game. Merciless is easier than hard due to higher damage on crits. I.m mad I don't fully enjoy it because there is obviously quality here.

I think P5R finally caught up to P4G, at least for me. I still love the P4 characters more but the plot of P5R has vastly improved.
I actually got to Shido’s palace in the original, but my friend let me game share with him so I could play Royal. I can’t go back to the original
Its sad how redundant it is now
Why would you stop the Alarm?
I play persona 5 on my ps3. Didn't have a ps4 and felt really lucky that atlas brought this game to ps3.
thinking of getting royal + this video kinda convinced me!!
Persona 5 Royal's 100+ Hours is nothing compared to literally any Animal Crossing game. For New Leaf, it can take 400+ Hours to beat
Royal and Q2 weren't the only games to have showtime/unison attacks actually, Golden had something similar as well
Ah, I know the ones you mean.
Thanks for reviewing my favourite game.
Love your reviews.
Thanks a lot, dude! I'm really glad you enjoy them!
Great Vid my man.
Thank you very much!
It’s pretty much a different game, but an idiot like you loves comparing that to loot boxes.
a pure treasure for 100% ♥️
Persona 4 golden is only 20 dolllars, Mvp
Tbh Last surprise and the old character portraits are a reason for me to like vanilla more
FuckOuttaHere Reasonable Reasons
They are logical
FuckOuttaHere Persona 5 has no replay value so the first playthrough should be the best memorable experience , in royal they altered a lot of original aspects of the game and the whole new arc isn’t that much tbh
Don’t forget Izangi no o Kami makes the game a click and point game
Its not really important, but Alice has only one fusion formula even without dlc in both Royal and base P5
Persona 5 on the PS3 was just so pirates could play on an emulator
I'm gonna be hacking it so I can play it on the ps3 because I have potato
the will seeds still look like potatoes
I think Persona 4 Golden and/or KH2 slightly beat out this game personally, but this game is one of the best experiences I've ever had playing a video game. Just overall fantastic, the new additions along with the semester and it's antagonist are what I never knew I needed.
10/10
Tbh, the Okumara boss fight is at its hardest on hard, not merciless
guess who was lucky enough to play on hard in my first run
Why is worse on hard than merciless?
@@HunterForHire422 Merciless kills everything with one attack on a weakness.
@@Grey0King oh I see
Persona 5 is a great game, but I can't see myself fully investing like I did with Persona 3. I prefered P3's difficulty curve
Hearing makoto is your top girl.
Me: trash
Says no one in 2017 was using ps3. Bet I was
I played Persona 5 on the ps3 because it was cheaper and I had both the ps3 and ps4 at the time.
Isn't... Normal mode easy to play? I know it's not easy mode, but I don't think the complaint that the game is easy on Normal mode is a valid complaint
treasure easily.
Treasure.
I love this game to death but I think they could’ve have waited for the ps5
It’s cuz persona 5 was meant to be a ps3 title so royal being PS4 makes a lot more sende
Did you not play the third semester
I 100% agree but I think persona 1 has the worst story of series.
Persona 5 royal plays incredible on ps5 !!!!
I hate the community but the game is great
I actually like that p4g has more goofy moments and wish p5r had more aswell. To me p5r has the better gameplay and third semester is brilliant but to me p4g has the better overall story and group dynamic.
Ummm, I still use my PS3...
That's amazing XD
Some flashy new stuff on screen to make the gmae more "Royal and Opulent" with those sparkly new effects around the screen on palaces (the Original had this but not those flashy jewel styles).
Even so, most of the Confidants were fine as they are.
nice review! i love p5r but p4g ist still my fav
Thanks very much! P4G’s a great one to pick as a favorite too. :)
Traits are easily transferable so experiment
The best gear is acquired during a fusion alarm e.g itemizing satan for guys and messiah (free dlc) for girls
Billiards increases your technical rank which increases the damage done in technical attacks while increasing knock down chance.
Disagree with you when you said 5 4 have best Story but good video bro keep it up 3 4 have best story 5 last.

And mind you I LOVE P5 so why do I hate it you ask?
well for starters let's start with the good
1: inherent baton pass, love it
2: more gun ammo, ya love to see it
3: new music is pretty good
4: the new boss changes are ok' except Okumura
5: mementoes is now really good, etc.......
@@kamatari1220 that's cool, NOW CAN IT SHOW ME!!!! aka the game breaks the rule of show don't tell a lot

I agree the Fanbase is toxic and terrible Persona 5 Royal is my favorite game of all time And I absolutely love persona 4 Golden I have not played Persona 3 yet i’m waiting for them to release a port on steam
Inspite of how they improved P5 Royal, I think P4 Golden is still better only in terms of story...
