Congratulation on beating this run! Persona 3 FES has lot hidden depths to the weapon, armor, accessories mechanic, and even item farming to an extent. Your run and my run made me appreciate that most of the mechanics implemented in the game has purpose to make the road block ahead potentially less bumpy. Shame most of the time these mechanics are often overlooked. 19:10 Break spells CAN cancel the Resist on a Persona, however enemies are just not programmed to use Break skills if the Player has Resist. The reason it does not work on bosses is because usually when boss resist something, it is done with a simply damage reduction multiplier. 20:10 Party member is programmed to use item that is independent of the MC's item pool, meaning Junpei can potentially use Medical Powder before the MC can even buy them. The number is finite for each encounter though. I believe your party member can cure status up to 3 times before they run out. 48:06 Strong vs X's effect is weaker than Effective vs X effect. 52:52 The Inari Shrine was a feature that was added in FES, so in OG Persona 3 there is no way to farm Soma unless the Player unlock Monad. 1:14:45 Even at Level 70 while letting Nyx Avatar have two turns and without stats raising on Hard Mode, I found that Nyx Avatar without the proper setup, victory is very slim. At Level 70 even with the proper setup, it is still a stressful experience as there were plenty of Close-Calls, and Nyx Avatar spamming Almighty Attack in the Death Phase plus Night Queen spam at critical HP did not help with the stress level.
19:10 This reminds me of how, in Paper Mario TTYD, "Does Tasty Tonic cure it?" and "Does the enemy THINK Tasty Tonic cures it?" are separate flags for each ailment. For some reason.
I'm glad you know how to actually use the tactics menu. So many people complain about it like the AI is unusable or something. While it isn't perfect and I do prefer full control, the tactics menu works fine
It was only ever an issue when you grinded and just wanted to get the fights over with, so I thought, why need tactics. Then Mitsuru would use Marin Karin, Tentarafoo, or Ice Break, when I would have wanted her to use any attack. It just the little things thag make it annoying.
@@MrFreakHeavy But it was never an issue for grinding. I played P3 after P4 saw the Knockdown preset and never looked back (once you unlocked it). It makes grinding the most efficient as they use optimal SP strategy while also fishing for All Out Attacks. Like they are literally goated on Knockdown.
I decided to look up the Vorpal Blade fake, and it's an glitched weary thrust that got accidently added in when they were making P3 FES. The irony with that one is that if you fused it onto another persona, you would have gotten the real one instead b/c the game would have fixed it. Rip
I think the big problem is that Mitsuru and Metis tend to use Marin Karin on act freely, and in the case of Metis it is very difficult to get Metis to charge without putting her on act freely, so she tends to use Marin Karin a bit too much for comfort.
Only Act Freely AND if the enemy has not been analyzed or if you haven't initiated an analyze. You should be analyzing enemies with every battle anyways, so... really, skill issue if you're having Mitsuru spam Marin Karin.
As a huge fan of the original Persona 3 FES (+ The Answer), I found this video to be both incredibly entertaining and very informative! It was oddly satisfying to watch how you approached the different guardians and bosses, often in creative ways that make the most of the mechanics of the game. Thank you for setting up the "Marin Karin"-counter as well. That meme was always rubbish.
i think its really funny how the ultimate persona of the magician arcana is a physical attacker. in fact most of the higher level magicians are physical attackers
You know, I remember YEARS ago seeing a video of someone who had been doing something just like this. No idea if they finished it, but I recall them having to get specific personae through shuffle time after a floor boss because they weren't high enough level to fuse it. Either that or the fight was just enough to get them to a level where they could finally fuse it and I think it was a bit of a relief to obtain. I need to find that video again, see how far they actually made it through the game...
I've been waiting for this and I'm not even quoting Akihiko on purpose. Interested to see how something similar works in Persona. 5:44 WAIT WHAT REALLY?! I didn't know this removed weakness flags! Now I'm remembering my old LP, where the Dancing Hands was my first Game Over, and I did specifically grind Pulinpa for Rampage Drive. Beating Nyx at Lv 64 is still insane, as it getting all the way to World Balance with zero grinding. You should be proud of that.
Also Knock Down is generally a super good tactic to set, since it makes allies attack with whatever has the best affinity, which includes physical skills to go for crits. Assign Target I believe just makes the AI do their highest damaging moves to a single target

20:05 Yes it's true party members carry their own items, as opposed to sharing an inventory with the player. Not sure yet) supply of regular medicine, and a finite supply of dis-ailment items (although I'm not aware of how many at the moment). And of course, I wanted Vorpal Blade, the strongest move in the game when on Great condition... and you've experienced the rest.
This genuinely started making me think more about how I should set up my own Persona, usually I just do what I think works bc casual gaming. But stuff like this really gets my brain jogging on games like P4G where I can’t exactly cheese the entire game with a Reaper. Maybe in another playthrough I’ll do a max optimization for each persona in P4G (oh god kill me, that’s gonna take hours.) I’m curious if anyone has done low level p1-P2 would be interesting content
I know this is probably gonna turn out a bit obnoxious but the fact that you proved Mitsuru is better without her using Marin Karin at all just really puts into perspective that she shouldn't have it. She would be a much better character battle wise in act freely if she never obtained the skill. If she had used it effectively in your run then that completely kills the argument because it showed that it would've had a niche use case. Regardless good stuff here! Definitely learned a thing or two about the game! I applaud your efforts in attempting this!
ngl i wanted mitsuru to use marin karin at least some of the time so id put her on act freely (or support if everyone's full health) to see if the enemy was charmable if she wouldn't do it, id put her back to any tactic id use for the fight or turn i would need her to commit the action to charming is so good to me because it skips the opponent turn completely and i have mediocre confidence that it allows for easier critical hits as i hit a lot more criticals with the enemy charmed, so im surprised you didn't use her charm skill like ever considering how good it can be
I somewhat consider Nyx to be in a superboss-tier, low on the scale however. Since even on a casual playthrough you are most likely going to have to grind more or less to have a chance at beating it. Special mention for it not mattering if Night Queen hits and wrong party member gets charmed. I remember having to grind like a mf to beat it and I even grinded 4 of Abaddon's heart items to null all status effects since Night Queen slammed me an hour into the fight. So it is an achievement in itself to beat it at around lvl 60. Points for doing this on FES as well. Reload is much easier and gives you more tools to abuse.
this was very interesting to watch, i learned some new things for sure kinda want to try this now, but I feel like id just give up long before completing it haha
If you micro-manage Mitsuru properly, she'll never cast Marin Karin. Thing is: Most people playing this game never micro their party members and brute force the game with overleveling. I don't really blame 'em... micro-ing your party members can be very tedious. Now now... Low Level "The Answer" when?
So the secret to making Mitsuru not use Marin Karin is to keep her as underleveled as possible. I'll be using this in my next playthrough thank you very much
Watching you attempt this run I was low key thinking I could attempt it.... then you got to that finatic tower and I was absolutely not willing to attempt this... the chip damaging a enemy to death is awful
Ok and? He wanted to play FES so he did. Besides just having Theurgy means any potential Reload challenge would also have to ban it cause Theurgy even makes being underleveled easy lol
@@Nocturne989I still think that P3R is the best experience of Persona 3, but yeah, Theurgies are busted. Completely break the game, especially with DLC (or Siegfried)(I know there’s others but Siegfried is the main one). It is fun watching number go up tho.
@@Nocturne989 I prefer P3R, but I agree, Theurgies make the game easier. The concept is really cool, obviously, but maybe making the damage do heavy instead of severe to start would help. Idk, I like seeing Siegfried and Mithras break everything with high crit chance personas lol
I love that I never understood the meme of Mitsuru spamming Marin Karin, because I just saw Knockdown in P3 and thought "yeah, that ones is the best" because I did play P4 first and knew how op Knockdowns are. And she never uses Marin Karin on that preset. (I'd say support and Knockdown are the only tactics a casual player on normal really needs) But I still think it is funny that you basically brought up the "Marin Karin Counter" just to never bring it up again.
What an irrational doomer. This low level run is not a failure. The lowest level run is a failure. But you completed the low level run. Your score is level 64. Until anyone finishes the game at a lower level, you're the world record holder. Congratulations, you played yourself.
@@Hyp3rSonic Yea it originally was a lot more straightforward. I don’t recall what it was word-for-word verbatim but it explicitly mentioned “Persona 3 Low Level Challenge”
i myself am currently thinking about doing a run of only using shuffletime personas no skill cards no fusion. tho obviously im not gonna minimize exp gains
You havent really mentioned this so i don't know wether you know about it, but Mind/Power charge are kinda useless in P3 because they only increase the power by ×2 instead of ×2.5 of P4 and onwards so they're essentially just like attackinh twice
@@helpihavebats6392Even in titles where it gives more than 2x charge/concentrate are more useful for conserving mp or setting up debuffs/buffs before you actually get the attack in. Those benefits usually end up being more important than actually boosting the damage more than hitting twice. Since hitting once after buff/debuff rotation makes a bigger difference than the multiplier most of the time.
Fun fact, Tartarus Bosses had more or less the same amount of EXP as Random Encounteres... Probably even less since there's no EXP boosts like the Wand Cards on Shuffle Time That is why this Run is so difficult compared to future titles' Low SP Run
45:46 That is SO EVIL. What is this, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon with the lookalike items? Edit: Man, I really wish some of these features and mechanics made it into Reload. I liked the idea of the protag being able to use different types of weapons and even being able to shoot shadows from a distance. Don't get me wrong, theurgies are cool and all, but they're also broken. I was hoping for an actually challenging experience with Reload after how easy P5/P5R was since P3 was supposed to be a hard game. I was really disappointed at how easy it still was even on the hardest difficulty, and the moment they introduced theurgies, I knew it was over. I don't understand why it's SO HARD for companies these days to make games harder or have TRULY HARD difficulty options for those of us who like a REAL challenge. When Hard is harder than MERCILESS in one of your games, you know you messed up.
hey, been following your run basically since it started, and I do have a couple thoughts I'd like to share (given that I've also run a very similar thing, low-ish level but solo): mainly regarding world balance, I do believe it may be doable without your grinding. off memory, you were level 41 ish when entering, so it may have barely been possible to fusion accident your way into a level 53 thor? I'm not 100% sure on the fusion accident ranges, but I know they're a bit stupid (I've definitely gotten stuff 10 levels above), so it might have been worth a shot. that would let you pull the same critlock strategy that you did, but without the added grinding. basically just fill up your stock with stuff that you can fusion accident into, and keep spamming triangles; at the very least grab the next highest fool, the game loves throwing fools your way from accidents. alternatively, the way I did it may also work in your case, give or take. you probably figured this out already, but just in case you haven't, the world balance has a pretty consistent pattern (in solo at least, I doubt it's much different in full party runs): >50% HP spams all elemental skills 50-25% HP light/dark/almighty mix-up (mahamaon/mamudoon/megidola/on)
1:10:46 This is the first time I’ve heard of this being a thing from someone other than me lol. During my first playthrough, I beat Nyx on my first try because she just refused to cast Night Queen. I assumed it had to do with me equipping Tome of the Void to null all ailments but I guess it wasn’t that. Would love a definitive answer for how this works
And then there is me who somehow got to nyx while being lv 42 (i was lazy about going to tartarus) if anyone is asking i couldnt beat nyx thst stuff was tooo hard and decided to grind until i think lv 70 or 80? Idk
You can save the system at any point of the game, and go back to that exact point in a click. Save states are only possible on emulators because of that
About Persona 3 Portable: I've actually found _another_ low-level Maniac run out there: ruclips.net/p/PLD6tsa8DXMui7pbJ1sNPoDuKVzRzk5n7- They beat Nyx Avatar with The Reaper being the only optional battle from which EXP was taken (I believe for access to the Monad Depths and the high-tier equips that can be found in the gold chests there)! Granted, they claim to have used 0-EXP cheats for the pre-Nyx item/money grinding--but I say that this should be given a pass as long as the items and money acquired were legal anyway, since it was likely just a time-saving measure. Like how Nyarly turned on EXP cheats when grinding to LV 255 in Nocturne in his No Buffs/Debuffs run, since the absurd grind would have exceeded the patience of most humans. (NitsuaGamer also grinded to 255 in his No Active Skills run, but he had the EXP and Macca DLCs...which he explicitly disallowed himself from using until he reached the final bosses. And he actually proved that said bosses are beatable on Normal with no buffs, debuffs, or other skills; Nyarly couldn't demonstrate that without restarting the game on Normal.)
I dont know where you got the idea that SMT3 lets skills downgrade but I'm pretty sure that isn't true? At the very least I cannot find anywhere that shows that happening
To be honest though, I usually don’t like having AI play so I never end up using the tactics menu that much. I prefer having full control of the whole battlefield than no control. But I can respect how much the AI carried you through much of this run, mad respect for even completing this run.
Since this is P3 FES, you don’t have “Direct Commands” as an option. You have to engage with the tactics menu in this game. However, the AI is pretty competent most of the time (not perfect though), and this game gives you more tactics to take advantage of than P4/P5 do.

ngl i wanted mitsuru to use marin karin at least some of the time so id put her on act freely (or support if everyone's full health) to see if the enemy was charmable
if she wouldn't do it, id put her back to any tactic id use for the fight or turn i would need her to commit the action to
charming is so good to me because it skips the opponent turn completely and i have mediocre confidence that it allows for easier critical hits as i hit a lot more criticals with the enemy charmed, so im surprised you didn't use her charm skill like
ever considering how good it can be
I somewhat consider Nyx to be in a superboss-tier, low on the scale however.
Reload is much easier and gives you more tools to abuse.
this was very interesting to watch, i learned some new things for sure
kinda want to try this now, but I feel like id just give up long before completing it haha
You're pretty cool man... Yeah, you're pretty cool.
i hit lv99 for nyx as a formality so this run has merit for me alone lmao
So the secret to making Mitsuru not use Marin Karin is to keep her as underleveled as possible. I'll be using this in my next playthrough thank you very much
Awesome video!
My man going through pure torture just to further prove this game rocks and I'm all for it
Watching you attempt this run I was low key thinking I could attempt it.... then you got to that finatic tower and I was absolutely not willing to attempt this... the chip damaging a enemy to death is awful
I wonder what a low level Elizabeth fight would look like
It feels like half the mechanics you’re mentioning aren’t in reload lol
(I'd say support and Knockdown are the only tactics a casual player on normal really needs)
But I still think it is funny that you basically brought up the "Marin Karin Counter" just to never bring it up again.
What an irrational doomer. This low level run is not a failure. The lowest level run is a failure. But you completed the low level run. Your score is level 64. Until anyone finishes the game at a lower level, you're the world record holder. Congratulations, you played yourself.
First title was better ngl.
He changed the title??? 🤔
@@Hyp3rSonic
Yea it originally was a lot more straightforward.
I don’t recall what it was word-for-word verbatim but it explicitly mentioned “Persona 3 Low Level Challenge”
@@myyoutubeaccount4167 Close. It was "Experience" instead of "Challenge."
Actually it was the P3 low level experience
Jokes on you Bubble, the Mitsuru joke is stil funny lmao (Loved the vid by the way)
This was my Persona 3 Reload team as well.
you make fun of the q2 meme run but i might genuinely do that bc aigis is busted in q2 lol
would love to watch persona q2 without humans run lol
I’m a patron but I didn’t wanna watch the trailer before the movie came out
She cast Marin Karin to make you keep the counter at zero
Rare occurance of marin karin not missing
MY GOAT MUST’VE FORGOTTEN TO USE MARIN KARIN 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
i myself am currently thinking about doing a run of only using shuffletime personas no skill cards no fusion. tho obviously im not gonna minimize exp gains
38:08 Oh cool, Puyo Puyo music!
45:52
This is such an easy bug to slip through the cracks but I'm still surprised it exists
impressive ost selection
You havent really mentioned this so i don't know wether you know about it, but Mind/Power charge are kinda useless in P3 because they only increase the power by ×2 instead of ×2.5 of P4 and onwards so they're essentially just like attackinh twice
Looking it up it says 1.9x meaning its worse than just attacking twice.
Guess I’ll do it at level 1 and alone with only physical
(39:02) Damn, fr? That’s IT?? Wow, I really AM kind of a pushover in the original games, huh?
Anyways uhh.. yeah bye.
Fun fact, Tartarus Bosses had more or less the same amount of EXP as Random Encounteres... Probably even less since there's no EXP boosts like the Wand Cards on Shuffle Time
That is why this Run is so difficult compared to future titles' Low SP Run
Oh wow that sucks
When Hard is harder than MERCILESS in one of your games, you know you messed up.
ohhh nice, I thought you were going to play reload
Part of me actually wants to try this run at some point, but I don't think I have it in me LOL
hey, been following your run basically since it started, and I do have a couple thoughts I'd like to share (given that I've also run a very similar thing, low-ish level but solo):
mainly regarding world balance, I do believe it may be doable without your grinding. off memory, you were level 41 ish when entering, so it may have barely been possible to fusion accident your way into a level 53 thor? I'm not 100% sure on the fusion accident ranges, but I know they're a bit stupid (I've definitely gotten stuff 10 levels above), so it might have been worth a shot. that would let you pull the same critlock strategy that you did, but without the added grinding. basically just fill up your stock with stuff that you can fusion accident into, and keep spamming triangles; at the very least grab the next highest fool, the game loves throwing fools your way from accidents.
alternatively, the way I did it may also work in your case, give or take. you probably figured this out already, but just in case you haven't, the world balance has a pretty consistent pattern (in solo at least, I doubt it's much different in full party runs):
>50% HP spams all elemental skills
50-25% HP light/dark/almighty mix-up (mahamaon/mamudoon/megidola/on)
Yea it’s here
Nitsua almost made it
its interesting that not too long ago teegee did this in reload by hacking obtained exp to 0
1:10:46 This is the first time I’ve heard of this being a thing from someone other than me lol. During my first playthrough, I beat Nyx on my first try because she just refused to cast Night Queen. I assumed it had to do with me equipping Tome of the Void to null all ailments but I guess it wasn’t that. Would love a definitive answer for how this works
Finally, critical mode + EXP zero in persona 3
5:33 RELOAD??!!?
True p3 enjoyers doesnt use the tactics menu
I did this with my first P3 playthrough as a kid but I didn't beat Nyx lol.
Glad to hear Pumpkin Hill from Sonic Adventure 2!
Now do The Answer.
It would be fun if you could share your save files so anyone can experiment with it :)
Lmao the Marin Karin counter
18:04 the plural is actually Gigantes (Γίγαντες)
try beating persona 3 without the MC dying or being turned into a door
Can you beat persona 3 without wanting to jump into a woodchipper? (IMPOSSIBLE)
EXP isn't actually shared among party members in p3 iirc
Nuzlocke without the Nuz
And then there is me who somehow got to nyx while being lv 42 (i was lazy about going to tartarus) if anyone is asking i couldnt beat nyx thst stuff was tooo hard and decided to grind until i think lv 70 or 80? Idk
How save states work? You can save during combat?
You can save the system at any point of the game, and go back to that exact point in a click. Save states are only possible on emulators because of that
Hai kidda new to this game as a whole so like what's the end goal of the game 😭
About Persona 3 Portable: I've actually found _another_ low-level Maniac run out there:
ruclips.net/p/PLD6tsa8DXMui7pbJ1sNPoDuKVzRzk5n7-
They beat Nyx Avatar with The Reaper being the only optional battle from which EXP was taken (I believe for access to the Monad Depths and the high-tier equips that can be found in the gold chests there)!
And he actually proved that said bosses are beatable on Normal with no buffs, debuffs, or other skills; Nyarly couldn't demonstrate that without restarting the game on Normal.)
isnt under leveling what you’re supposed to do?
@@djinsane654
Wdym?
That’s not how this game works… you can’t control your party members
>solo runs are mundane
:(
now do it on lv1
persona 3 if it was peak
GREG APPARENTLY BEATS EVERY DAY? IS HE Lügner und niedriger IQ? i think hes lie
how the hell did you get a vorpal blade that wasn't a fucking vorpal blade?????????
