    Those slides gave me the feels. :[
    Moments and memories that were meant to be cherished, just rotting and fading away in some abandoned house. People really don't think about the decaying and fading side of our existence. It's easy to forget about it in a nice city, with landscaping and constant new construction. But there is a lot of fading history out there, down forgotten roads. Humanity leaves a residue in time. I feel kind of sad when I see some place that used to be happy and alive, just now drifting into oblivion.

    I live alone, and in all probability will do so till the end of my days. Over the years I've ended up collecting tons of stuff including hundreds of books and thousands of curios. Having seen enough of these videos showing vandalized abandoned house full of the owners' possessions made me rethink my life. The idea of having my personal space violated after I was gone began to gnaw me persistently. And so 6 months ago I sold the stuff i could part with, gave to charity that which I could, threw away that which I did not need and crated up the remainder which was mostly memorabilia. Now I live out of four suitcases and sleep a lot better at night. In a way I am grateful to these urban explorers for helping me asses my life and the end of it.

    the slides told you how old the person who lived there was. This house is at least 1960's and that Corvair came out late 68-70. Owner(s) died and left everything as they most likely had no nearby/living relatives. You really should research the owner and see if you can do salvaging rights. probably a mess because vandals came in or they turned into hoarders because of aging.

    I always wondered why people abandon their home with all their belongings. Now I've just thought the whole family have gone somewhere on holiday and they've never came back because maybe they have had an accident and are dead :( . That would explain these kind of situations. Then people enter the property and start to destroy everything, looking for money, things they take (as the missing sink) or just ruin everything because they like to do so. This is so sad and the saddest thing is finding their pictures scattered all around :( . I couldn't leave them there like nobody cares, like they never existed...I should take the pictures with me and discover who they were.

      Slides have not been used in a while. The house is decorated old lady style. Many of the clothes in the closet looked like dresses. There were no male items in the house.
      Theory - An old lady died there or was moved to a health care facility. The family will eventually sell the house. Someone is paying the taxes or it has been delinquent for less than 2 years or it would have been auctioned. The car was clean, so is being cared for, probably by the same relatives. The guy who made the video probably knows all the answers since he is bravely wandering around with no fear of homeless guys sleeping there, teens skipping school or the police getting called on him.

All the things in this home that made a family, pictures, personal belongings, clothes, toys and all the furniture and grandmas china. All of it will be gone soon and so will be all the memories, very sad.

    I'm betting the owner was some old person with no family left and no outstanding debt, so when they died, there was no one to take possession of the house or anything in it. The style of the furnishings, the outdated technology, and religious light switch cover are all telltale signs of an old person's home.
    Such a waste though. I'll bet if you cleaned it out, that house could be a happy home for someone again.

I am so with you on the respectful looter aspect, however, to make these videos he has to almost completely agree to the non invasive agreement. Nothing in anything he searches will be looted, nor disturbed... I guess his major selling point is showing all the "goodies" left behind. With that being said, if he did loot or disturb, he would be liable for civil and criminal suits.

    What an incredible house! That old Corvair was an amazing find in the garage. My grandfather loved to rebuild those when I was a kid!
    Did the hallway have a pull down stairs to the attic? Couldn't really tell from the video, but it looked like it. These types of finds always leave me feeling puzzled and curious as to what in the heck happened. Do you ever do more research into the location to see if you can find anything out about the previous residents and what may have happened to them? Great video, keep em coming.

I feel like I could walk in there and put the drawers back where they belong and close the cabinets and arrange the sectional back together and it would make it look like someone was expected home any minute. I can't imagine what make me leave my whole life behind. Or if I died why wouldn't someone want my things? I want to know why? what happened?

  • @GrannyLaLa1960

    Everyone is talking about the car but the shelves the books were in with the glass fronts? Worth about $1,000 depending upon which part of the country you're in. I believe that's for each and they're in sections where you can stack them as high as you want.

    • @jameslandon4126

      Jim Garrison true. That car sells in the range of $5,000 - $8,000 depending upon the year model and condition. There's several for sale online in that range. But don't over look the lesser money, every bit adds up. My point is that someone walked off (died?) and left a small but nice amount of money behind in furniture and car.

    Always hate to see a situation like this. A person's belongings are the only thing we have that connect us to our families and those we love and care for. To see someone's belongings, especially their personal belongings, totally abandoned and rifled through like this makes me feel very sad. Really makes me wonder what happened to the person or people who lived there.

      Margaret- I think we're both correct - If you're really interested, go to the part where the host is looking at the slides - and, mind you, you do have to strain, maybe even pause the video, but I'm pretty sure one of the people in the group shot resembles a person in the poster.
      I found this to be one of the more interesting aspects of the video- clues about the inhabitants/family who once lived in this mysterious place.

      @maggied8468 7 лет назад +1

      Tudor Down. I reviewed the slides. The host holds slide 5 upsidedown. When viewed correctly an adult and child are seen. I think it could be this child as a teenager on the poster. I would love to know what happened to them all. Thank you for your helpful reply.

      Wow, you looked! :) Thanks for the confirmation on the pics and the validation.
      I too would like to know more. Perhaps this was indeed the home of an older person who passed away with no living relatives nearby,aware or able to take over possession of the home. Perhaps several generations stayed there over time, but none made it their
      permanent home. There was so much more information there...so many clues...notebooks, papers, maybe there were boxes of clues in the closets...but the videographer overlooked , literally scanned hastily over the most vital stuff, choosing instead to focus on an old Corvair, a plastic ornament, and just the mayhem of the place. Maybe Im not "getting it" but I would think that venturing into an abandoned home or building is fascinating and thrilling and borne of a curiosity about the people who lived and stayed there...the human connection. Sadly, the latter seems a bit lost on this videographer. But on a positive note, we were able to try to piece together just one sliver of a slice of the mystery of this abandoned home. Thank you!

    I like how so many people are saying they'd take the car. Good luck on that. The DMV would have the VIN # on record which would include info of ownership, therefor you wouldn't be able to get the registration, title, tags, or insurance.....because umm.....you don't own it. And if you're driving around without any of those things......you'll be cruising towards some big problems. And aint no fucking Corvair worth going to jail over....sorry.

    • @randywoolum2648
      @randywoolum2648 8 лет назад +1

      ***** abandoned and not owned are two different things. Somebody owns that car and that house.....nothing is ever 'not' owned. If the original owner of both passed, then their next of kin owns it. If their is no next of kin, then the courts will take the personal affects, and if there's a lien on the property, then the bank will take it back. Nobody's walk into a DMV and tell them they broke into an abandoned house and took the car out of the garage, and expect to get the title, and have a free car.....not gonna happen. You'll sit there while they call the authorities, and your next stop will be an 8X10 cell with a book of charges pending against you.....guaranteed. If the vehicle is on YOUR property, then you can take steps to claim it as yours, you CANNOT break into a property and take the car because you found it....that's THEFT. And you'll go to jail. What the DMV will do is most likely try to contact the owner about the vehicle, then if they have no luck, turn it over to the courts, and it will be auctioned off, and you'll be given an invite to come buy the car. They're not going to just give a title to some random person who stole a car, and they get to live footloose, and car payment free.......nope. Maybe in Hollywood, but this isn't Hollywood.

    • @randywoolum2648
      @randywoolum2648 8 лет назад

      +zimbrehan but I'm referring to how the car would be taken from a house you broke into.... that is what will land you in jail.

    • @randywoolum2648
      @randywoolum2648 8 лет назад +2

      ***** You're talking about an abandoned car in general. Sure, you could get the title for an abandoned car, but trying to get one for that Corvair would not be an easy task, because getting to it, is illegal in it's self. These people call themselves "explorers", and they're not....they're trespassers.

    You know, that house is in very good shape, minimal destruction, and vandalism. You could set up an Outhouse, some solar panels, and after you clean out the the stuff you got yourself a free house. If thing go okay and after a few year on the property without being disturbed you an fix it up more. You got a free house, no morgage or taxes Yay! Though I am very curious that with these situations why the bank does not take control of it if the house still has mony owed on the morgage.

      @TheMiig1513 8 лет назад +1

      +Ewan Oxborrow Thought so aswell.
      Also, why is it so trashed, I doubt explorers did it. Maybe they were desperately looking for something, or someone else was and maybe that caused them to flee somehow.
      Although it's like someone trashed it, just to trash it...
      I just read up on the O.J. Simpson murder case a bit. It seems like he was found guilty in murdering his ex-wife and some waiter..
      It may be a long shot, but I think it had something to do with that case. The man in the pictures and the wedding cake figures is white though. Simpson is black.
      His ex-wife Nicole was stabbed to death with a knife, I imagine you could trash up a house pretty good, trying to get away and defend yourself.
      (This may be common knowledge for an american, but I'm from Denmark so bear with me haha)

      +TheMiig1513 I'm from the UK so it's all good haha, I know a little bit about the case, I've been meaning to watch a recently released docu-series on it but haven't gotten round to it yet, and that's a good theory, I found it a little odd that there were SO many tapes about the case, in just a small portion of the house, a lot of the items and furniture also seem to indicate that the house has been empty since the mid 90s, and like you said, it almost looks like organized chaos, you can tell others have entered the property after it was abandoned, people such as the gentleman who posted this video, but it doesn't appear to have been vandalized by passers by, it looks to me like they were in a hurry to leave, collected all of their essentials, and got the hell out of there as soon as they could

    just came across your channel you have massive balls to go up in that house! It's creepy cause the inside of the house looks frozen in the mid 90's strange that so much stuff would be left behind A+ job stay safe

      Maybe somebody came into the house and just grabbed it to open something or cut up something. There are any number of reasons a knife could have been laying there. The house is ABANDONED. It's feasible you could find various things in the bathroom you normally wouldn't find there. It's not always sinister.

    Wow that's a lovely car in great condition!!! Those were only made between 1960-1969 so it's a pretty awesome find. And man just take the slides, I HIGHLY doubt someone will miss them.

    That Corvair is super interesting! They were made between 1960 and 1969, and they were the focus of Ralph Nader's "Unsafe at Any Speed." Cool find!!

      I don't live in the US so why a lot of houses are made of wood even with the tornadoes and other stuff like that?

    • @HgRoller
      @HgRoller 8 лет назад

      Wood costs much less to build and replace when a tornado hits.

    • @tsnuggs4187
      @tsnuggs4187 8 лет назад

      That's a very good question. Mainly because it is quick and cheap to build wood frames and skin them with brick veneer and plaster board.
      They also build most houses to meet the minimum standard to satisfy the building codes for the town it's in.
      Even solid stone/concrete buildings have a hard time surviving tornado's.

    • @user-pb1mz2el7f
      @user-pb1mz2el7f 8 лет назад

      T Snuggs Hmm that's interesting, in my opinion if you live in a tornado area is worth spending a little more on a brick-concrete house, if a tornado strikes maybe some parts of the house or furniture will result damaged but the whole house will keep standing

    You can store your credit cards in your forehead. You should have looked under the mattress for guns then move the couch cushions for hidden money and guns. That knotty pine paneling is pretty nice to remove. Personally, I'd give you a B&E charge with trespassing.
