- Ride along with me on a completely driver-free Waymo robotaxi! Yup, we got to experience a self-driving, totally autonomous vehicle in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Google (Alphabet Inc.) is the parent company of this stunning piece of futuristic technology. And wow, it was a thrilling ride! I really believe in and support this techology and it was an honor to ride in a Waymo.
There were some hiccups, though, as you'll see in the video with Google's autonomous vehicle.
So, would you take a ride in one? Let me know in the comments below! 🤔💬

ABOUT WAYMO:
Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. (owners of Google), is at the forefront of developing autonomous driving technology. Originally started as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has grown into a standalone company aiming to improve transportation for people around the world through the development of self-driving vehicles. Its technology includes a combination of sensors, cameras, and software algorithms, enabling cars to navigate roads with minimal human input. The company's mission focuses on increasing safety by reducing human error in driving, which is a significant cause of accidents on the road.

Love your videos, thank you for keeping us informed about the futuristic cars. I love it.😊
Excellent video!!!!! Love this!!! ❤💯 I didn't know that the Waymo's were Jaguars! Wow, nice!!! Love the fact that you don't have to deal with drivers, and it follows all the road rules perfectly and doesn't go over the speed limit. That was a lot of fun!!! I'm gonna watch this again!! 👍👍👍
Thank you for watching! These cars are definitely the future. I felt safer in a Waymo than I do even when I'm driving!
@@McFuzzTravels I'm sure in the parking lot with all the parked cars at that mall, that it would come to a full stop if a car was backing out. These WAYMO's are much more comfortable to me than taking Uber or Lyft. Really fascinating video. Thanks for making it. I had no idea these were in Phoenix.
You're amazing person with interesting videos time after time unbelievable what advanced technology can do.
@@jazcamry thanks for watching!
Dobson and Rhodes Jr. high (We live along Bassline and Extension) - I know exactly where you are.
My daughter does not own a car or know how to drive etc. She will be starting at MCC soon. So looking at options for her to get around. I can not be Dad Uber all the time. So on the time I can not get her to school etc. She needs other options. Not liking the fact it dropped you off out back. Is it priced per person or can more than one ride? Can people ride up front? How Much does it cost per trip? you could of stopped in at Popeyes Chicken :) I like the no tip option too. I can see here way over tipping or not tipping at all.
Hey there. Sorry for the delayed reply. Waymo would be a great option! Keep in mind it only serves the central, southeast, and eastern sides of the valley for now, extending from downtown Phoenix to Scottsdale and then south to Chandler. So no trips to Glendale or Buckeye and such (yet).
Up to 4 people can ride, one in the passenger seat and three in the back. All the same price, just like Uber. But as you said, it's a better deal because of no tipping. There are some hiccups, like how it dropped us in the back. But honestly, I've been more concerned with Uber drivers' driving behavior. I didn't feel an ounce concerned in this Waymo. It followed traffic laws to a T. Not one mile an hour over the speed limit, always signalling, waiting extra for cars to pass rather than chance it, etc... I would trust my Gramma in a Waymo. Not sure about Uber. Hope this helps! 😊 Thanks for watching.
@@McFuzzTravels Thanks, Should would be going form MCC to our Hose at Baseline and Extension. So all with in the area, I was watching the ride and ever place you went I could tell what it was. It does seem a little expensive, gut for a quick trip on the days I can not get her to location, it would be a great option. Just an FYI: The Lidar etc. you can see that on security cameras. When one drive past our house it lights in up like some rave party from the 1980s
Just got back from Phx and yes it was freaky to see these taxis.
In a good way? Or did it make you feel scared? Thanks for watching!
Curiosity. I knew they existed but was astonished to see them.@@McFuzzTravels
Hi there. I enjoying your vedio. . I am in Phoenix area. I Have ride the waymo lots times. 😊
Thank you for watching!! Glad you enjoyed!
❤️ I love my waymo a lot ❤
Same! I love riding a Waymo! Thanks for watching.
super nice !!
Thanks for watching!
Looks like you were in Tempe , I saw sign Broadway
Indeed I was! Are you from Phoenix? Thanks for watching, too!
Yes I live in Phoenix 😎
What's the price per ride?
It's about the same as Uber. I'd say around a dollar a mile more or less. Depends on the time of day as Waymo also uses surge pricing during rush hour. Thanks for watching!
You keep saying Phoenix Arizona. You're really in Tempe Arizona which is a suburb of Phoenix.
I'm fascinated by those cars but I don't live next to Tempe so the cars aren't available to us.
It's not better than a human. As you showed in the video there are a few glitches but more than acceptable.
Almost identical taxis are available at locations in China. And I'm sure they totally developed the technology independently without any cheating.🤔🐼
I wonder what would happen if you sit in the driver seat
Maybe jail? 🤷♂️😂 Not sure. But it's against Waymo rules, so I imagine it would detect you're sitting there and refuse to start the ride at the minimum.
By the end of 2024, multimodal AI like GPT4 or Google Gemini will be used to either complement or act as the AI agent to drive autonomous vehicle. The AI inside the vehicle should also possess ability to chit chat with the passengers. Think of Knight Rider.
That would be awesome to integrate ChatGPT and such! I'd love to chat with the car. Thanks for watching!
"I feel so safe it's not breaking the speed limit!" - You sound like an old lady.
Thanks 👍 And thanks for watching!
In Phoenix you gotta be really careful about that. There are speed cameras at a lot of the intersections, and they will give people tickets if they speed.
@@photoniccannon2117 Indeed! 💯 Thanks for watching!
Live my tesla, but no way would i get in a robo taxi. Rather let Toonces drive.
You need to invest in a DJI Osmo Pocket, 2 or 3 video camera. Cell phone camera sucks!
I like how no one in drivers seat yet it still has seat belt buckled
I live in Phoenix
Kill the music
The beginning of the end, at least someone's enthusiastic about all this.
Thanks for watching! 👍
I get your enthusiasm, but the repeatedly phrased “way better than human” is annoying makes me feel like saying Why not we just all off ourselves Way better than humans right?

Its all fun and games until the car crashes. There's a reason why airplanes are not pilotless, even though the self flying technology has been around for a long time

@mateofernando5066 You do realize that THAT can happen to ANYONE who's driving a car, right? I'm ecstatic this technology is around. So sick & tired of the idiots who drive the cars that I reserve from that big famous company we all know.
@@JeyJJeyJI’m sick and tired of idiot drivers who refuse to stop getting distracted. I love this car and I can’t wait to get one.
Thanks for watching. Time will tell how this technology progresses.
What is the cost of your trip?
Definitely not better than a human. You can reason with a human. You can talk with a human. Your robot only follows it's programming and what happens when it crashes like all computers do? There isn't one piece of code that has never failed. To put your life into the "hands" of a computer is as dystopian as it gets.
Interesting perspective! Valid concerns. Thank you for watching. 💯

stop posting on meth
But in 99.9999% cases the code works perfectly and many people don't want talk to a driver. Maybe in future Waymo will provide some queries to the machine, not only "pull over" command.
@@VeryAwfulChannel That would be awesome if there were more commands! The tech will get there for sure. Thanks for watching!
