"Not all words that start/end with the same pre/suffix belong to the same class." Yep! Case in point: vancomycin is vancomycin, gentamicin is aminoglycoside, erthromycin is macrolide! In my first pharm class right now! Thanks for the awesome tips!!
You’re so welcome!! Congratulations on getting accepted. You will do great! Don’t let first semester get to you. Stay organized, study and push through it!
@@robynsharpe6035 congratulations that’s awesome! I felt like first semester was hard because it’s hard to know what to expect. I made a video on maternity check that out. I’m going to make one for Med surg 1 as well. It should be out next week. :)
smart and vegan, thank you for the video, I'm also in nursing school with Arizona College of Nursing BSN. it is soooo tough being in a school with no one... no one being vegan also. how do you do it being the only one knowing true heath while being in health care?
I’m so sorry that happened to you. Try to stay positive and get prepared now. So when you start your semester again you’ll be ahead. You already know what topics will be covered and you can do well! You got this!! So many amazing nurses have failed and it’s okay to fail it’s just how you respond to failure. You can do this!!
Exactly why I separate my classes! As a mom working full time, I know I couldn't do both. I will extend my graduation date but I prefer that over failing. I know you feel defeated but brush it off and try again. It's not how many times you fall..it's how often you get UP. You got this Nurse Major!
Hello. I am a student who is about to start my nursing program. My weakist point is chemistry, I hardly passed basic chem class barely I do not even remember most of it. Does pharmacology require you in-depth chem knowledge?
Hey! Thanks for your comment. You can 100% do well in pharmacology without doing well in chemistry. It’s not so much the chemical makeup of a drug. It’s more of the drugs function. For example beta blockers what are they used for? Main use is to lower BP but also lowers HR. Ultimately it’s a drug for those with hypertension. This is the basis of pharmacology x 100 drugs. But learning some drug classes and finding distinguishable differences will help with memorizing what they do! If you need a tutor feel free to message me on Instagram. You got this! :)
20 chapters for my 1st exam, and given from aug 21st - sep 7th to learn and retain it all. Did I mention it is a self taught course, ONLINE, and it supposed to be a "refresher" when we haven't even had a pharm class prior!! LOL. This nursing program is the worst, but in the last semester, thankfully. So can 100% understand your struggles.
I’m sorry you’re in that position!! I’ve been there before in other classes. Fortunately pharm is so concrete. Look up RUclips videos on pharm like nurse mike is great! He goes over the different drug classes. Good luck and try and stay positive!

How would you distinguish between a drug that is selective and non selective if they share the same suffix?
Omg I wasn't prepared and I messed myself up big time with pharmacology and fundamentals a whole semester down the drain 😭🤦🏾♀️

Is this the class where you have to pass math tests with a certain % in order to pass ?
I had to do very little math during this class. But for my clinical reasoning class we have to take a math test every semester.
My first exam is in chapters 1-14. Is this for anyone else taking the course??
Wow, that a lot for 1 chapter! I hope my class isn’t like that 😢😢
