Awesome video as usual man! Couldn't agree your point on keeping the camera accessible more. I'm still experimenting with how I carry mine in the hills, have used a capture clip for a while, but find it isnt the comfiest on the shoulder for long days and the camera can get a bit banged about in more involved terrain/ski stacks! Keep up with the rad videos
I think there’s honestly no perfect answer for camera carry haha. Unfortunately the Z8 is a very snug fit in the HMG camera pod which makes it a little tough to take out at times, but it works. With the X-T5 it’s perfect. Appreciate the support dude 🤙🏻
my "creative lens" purchas was a sirui 24mm anamorphic 1.33x lens for my x-t5 in an attempt to use it as a landscape lens/general purpose lens for a unique perspective. I have yet to utilise it for what I would like to, but I'll be taking it on my trip to tassie later this year and will attempt to use it there. it is worth noting that the lens while sturdily built is a hefty chonker with its all metal construction and general size. My current essential kit with my x-t5 is the xf 18-55mm kit lens and the xf 70-300mm. My other non-essential but "creative" lenses are the Voigtlander 27mm f2, Sirui Anamorphic 24mm f.28, and the Kek Oreo (32mm f10 recycled disposable lens).
Hi Sam, I shoot stills and video with an X-T5, loved your Q-Menu tutorial, I think you're the only photographer I have found that makes a point of saying, just keep it simple, you don't need to use all the function buttons. Very refreshing. I wanted to ask if you have any available information on your editing process for stills. I take it you use a mist filter for a lot of your landscape work? But the highlights especially have such a lovely warmth, whilst still retaining a lot of sharpness of the forms beneath, which is really hard to do. You also mention you don't swap in-camera film simulations often, which makes me think you shoot RAW then work in post. Your work has lovely, natural colours.
First off, thanks so much for the support! I’ll definitely dive into my editing more soon. I do have one video about using light wherein I do show a good bit of editing. I shoot everything in raw and I don’t use a mist filter (most of the time). I do have a vnd filter that has some mist, and when I’m shooting more video, I’ll sometimes take photos with that. Relatively few of my photos have a mist filter though. I’ll make sure to show more editing soon 😊
@@SamBugas Fantastic, Sam. I look forward to your editing video. I'll try a vnd filter too, that sounds really interesting. Keep doing what you're doing, you inspire a connection to photography and a calmness to the process, quality work, thank you for taking the time to make these videos and respond to your viewers.
Great video, was waiting for something like this! I never dared to go camping with my gear because i thought it would be too much to carry. The lack of electricity also doesnt help. But the solar panel gave me a new perspective... maybe one day :)
I’m so glad you enjoyed! For me, photography has always been about adventure. I prefer being uncomfortable in unique positions. I’ve never been kind to my camera gear by throwing it in backpacking and mountaineering packs, but it’s never once come close to being a problem. They are tough tools 🤙🏻
Sometimes keeping it simple is best. The bag that gets you there is better than the bag that holds a camera more snuggly but doesn’t allow for more remote work.
@@SamBugas I think you manage to verbalise my thoughts nicely. If your ever over on the Coast drop me a line and ill show you around or point you in the direction of some lesser known spots.I live nth of Greymouth heading toward Puni on a beach adjacent to the world famous Motikeikei destination beach
@@stephenroberts7828 much appreciated! I’ll absolutely reach out. I’ve spent more time over there recently while falling in love with motukiekie. I would absolutely love some pointers! Cheers
Just found your YT channel , very beautiful and helpful content! Also I like your photos and editing style! Do you have some videos about your editing process?
Thanks for the support! I really appreciate it. I have discussed my editing in a couple videos, but only to a small degree (check out my video about using light, I do a quick edit there). I’ll definitely make a video soon as it’s easily the video people request the most! I’ve struggled with figuring out how to make it without it being boring haha
We love that you love our gear! Stoked to get you out there to capture this beautiful world!
Been with HMG as long as I’ve been backpacking 🤙🏻 thanks for the support 😊
WoW! That’s Awesome! Have A Lovely Weekend! 🫶🏻❤️✨
Cheers, thank you!

Epic kit! That anamorphic would be so fun to work with 🤙🏻
With camera pod plus fishing gloves, nothing can stop you!
Absolutely ready for anything

Best bag Campagnon...it's camera bag without looking like a bag ...it's water proof too
