I am so amazed how long people are going with the stock servo. Brand new out of the box, mine stripped out 15 minutes in training mode driving around in my back yard. It was the first thing I had to upgrade before I got to drive my truck.
I have no idea how I'm still going with mine I've had the truck for 3-4 months, and we're still good. The only issue I've been having is I keep stripping out pinion and spur gears.
I did the hot racing harden steel shaft with slipper eliminater. I did the traxxas upgraded servo and it fried with in 3 days. So I pulled the metal gears out of the upgraded and put them in the stock (blue) servo and after a year of running it hard the servo took a crap, now I'm putting a 1/5 hobby star servo in it has: Torque @ 7.4v 972 oz-in Speed @ 7.4v 0.16 sec
Old Skool way separate shaft from parts and roll shaft alone on white paper 🤔🤯 maybe have a cloth or large towel covering the work area too🤔 it’s should stop the bouncing screws running away as they fall 🤔 I’ve always wondered Earl do you use some kind of tint on your videos😎the servo part reminds me of savage flux xl same feeding through coming up from the bottom thanks for this show Earl a lot was going on here today 🤤 dropping things happens a lot when not using ur pillow 🤣🤣 tho super glad you sorted the x maxx nothing worse than a double parked rc 😉
You may want to get that shaft to be safe. Idk..it may be ok but in slow motion I think it was just slightly wobbling. Only ever so slightly. I don't know if that actually effects it or not. Great video.
Thanks Earl, another rc thing to keep an eye on. You see a lot of guys going nuts on there xmaxx, 2028 motors. 1.5 mod gears and yea there xmaxx's are a little faster but not much. Plus all that weight, durability goes out the window. Run times cut in half. I keep mine stock besides the metal servo upgrade and aluminum steering turnbuckle's. Definitely will upgrade my esc when it breaks. Question, is that a max 6 in there? thanks again.
EARL,,you might find down the road that bolt holding down the servo saver spring will back off some. If so I put a bolt a little longer with a nut on the other end will cure that issue....I got that from Kevin Talbot .....fixes the issue,,,,🇺🇸👈
When it slows down does it come to an abrupt stop? And if pushed backwards it will roll but pull it forward and it grabs? It will run and sounds fine but I cant find a remedy for it. The top box is tight and everything looks fine.
i see a lot of rc repairs on here but very few know their chit like you do ...nice bro nice ......btw did you see traxxas has a new hd body for the lil maxx ?
@@earlmoorhead5555 you were taking so I was taking with you😅🤣you know! I was thinking at the moment that the pinion might have worn into the wobble spur
at 38;57 you said max6 esc isn't water proof or water resistant ? can you double check that cause im here following you step by step on servo changes and im waitin on my 1100kv hobbywing motor and it comes with a mas6! i just want to know or actually need to know your on top of things and know what your talking about......
Mine has a tight spot and I’ve never ran it. Don’t understand. Used the e pin slots and put in the 46. Don’t want to run it until it meshes correctly. It’s brand new. Any ideas?
You can order the metal gears for the servo part #2087x they're $30
Good to know thanks 🙏
Thanks!
Appreciate the support 🙏
Don't forget to set the servo end points. Great video.
Thanks 🙏
Just to let you know a year later and this video still helps. Thanks for the help
Looking forward to the meet up with Floyd🔥🔥💪
Me to on thanksgiving day we are going to a private motorcycle track to send the xmaxx off the big jumps 💪💪👍👍💯💯

Yes the older servo where better rtr 👍👍

Saga the only gear that holds and sinking motors are important so the push power at the same time 👍👍🔥🔥🔥
awsome update, look forward to the next meeting with Floyd.

Ok watched the rest of the video and yes it is a max 6.
Yes a max6 esc I wanted the factory esc for my udr to make it 8s so I changed it before I ran the rc I just wanted mine simple and stronge👍👍👍👍👍💯
I order the whole thing from Amazon because I'm having the same problem 🙃
i tried the savox 2290. pretty good

Was wondering if plate or shaft LET'S SEE
Right 🤔🤔🤔
If it's the shaft that would be nuts
It has a slight bend I think from pieces of chipped teeth getting wedged in the gears before it totally breaks 💯💯💯
I just did this upgrade.... , it still doesn't steer right. It often still wont steer if not in motion... at least not in both directions. Fun eh!
You up the voltage in the esc bec voltage?
