Been a long time since I heard anyway say MOD1.5 wow that’s some seriously chunky gearing looks very strong! Can’t believe how easily you could flex those rpm arms. I guess that’s why they don’t break. Large scale is fun but carrying a huge truck back to your home/car is like a gym session, it’s hard work! For all the traxxas haters, Unless you’ve tried traxxas you can’t say much , because they are the Apple brand of RC. You buy the total experience. Not just the specs. That’s why there’s no competition. That’s why they are 10 years ahead. Because of great design, and a hard working team of patent and copy-write infringements lawyers.
And don't forget they do their best to hold other brands back by suing them for dumb shit, like how they took arrma to court and sued them because they made a cantelever suspension on the NERO vehicle line up, I really liked it , it had some problems but they would have been worked out, and they have sued other companies as well, don't get me wrong I love my XMAXX it's my favorite car but there proprietary shit rubs me the wrong way
@@macmccartney5760 I think you only talk about these law suits because it’s interesting. In reality, nobody bought the Fazon and nobody talks about the Fazon and it was never a popular car. If you want a great car, get a hobao MTX. If you want a fun RC get a 2WD stampede or a ARRMA Gorgon (no interested law suits here haha)
I agree with a lot of what you said.. but I can add a few things. For most people an 1100kv motor is a bit overkill specially paired with a max 5.. for most a 1250kv spectrum or hobby wing motor paired with a max 6 is ALL you need for power.. plus it keeps the truck lighter. Also the center shaft should be upgraded at some point to a 2/3 peice system for flex or you’ll be bending it on big jumps. A few other great upgrades is the aluminum diff covers both front and rear, along with shimming your differential pinion gear with a .2mm shim or close to it.. this keeps the pinion much tighter to the ring gear and coupled with the aluminum diff covers you’ll have ROCK solid diffs weather you use self right or not. Another great addition is aluminum C-Hubs.. the stock plastic ones will break eventually hence why even Traxxas has aluminum C hubs on the new xmaxx ultimate. Another nice upgrade is the extended GPM spur gear shaft with the extra bearing to help support the load of the shaft.. this really helps take the load when running a larger motor with mod 1.5 gearing. One last upgrade I’ll mention is the M2C chassis brace.. for $60 you WONT regret it! It will also save your driveshaft if you’re still running stock because it keeps the chassis more rigid in the center. Silicone ear plugs are great in the center diff if you want more traction and better wheelie and backflip capabilities specially with a larger motor to put more power down.. and I also recommend swapping the front and rear diff out of the box so that the lighter diff fluid is in the rear and the thicker fluid is up front.. this will help a lot with the way the xmaxx handles, steers, and turns. I could go on but that’s good lol
I'm in the US, I agree with the weaknesses you pointed out. But there is one weakness you didn't cover: the center drive shaft. ESPECIALLY if you upgrade the motor and speed control for big air. The m2c center drive shaft upgrade is great, but it does add weight. I like the "wobble" shaft. A diy trick I learned from thunder rc. Stock the drive shaft is 1 piece with a spline gear at both ends. You'll need 4 spline gears. The trick is you cut the drive shaft into 3 pieces and use the 2 extra splines to connect them together. Once installed, you want 3/16 of slack(4or5mm? I'm not sure) So the drive shaft can flex or " wobble " without binding. Anyway nice video I also highly recommend rpm front and rear bumper.
Having just run my Xmaxx for the first time today I totally agree with y0u on your take on using Aluminum parts on this RC.... I intend on keeping my Xmaxx stock with minor upgrades here and there to strengthen the suspension and handling etc.... but for me the stock electronics is plenty powerful for my particular skill set.... I do what I call terrain bashing..... wide open spaces with hills and dips here and there to put the truck through its paces .....I'm not a fan of the big air kinda bashing because I just don't want to spend more time fixing the RC than running the RC..... lol.... thank you for you contribution to our hobby .... you seem very fair and unbiased in you assessment of this particular RC and I'm sure you do this with every RC you present on your channel...... WOW I learnt a lot. This means a lot to me because I’m trying to upgrade my two month old xmaxx 8S and I think I’ve done pretty much everything correct I haven’t really upgraded it. I’ve only just change the colour little bit because the truck came original red but what I’ve done is just put all of the original parts back on it just in a different colour, which is red
Hi there down under I live in the UK England, yeah I've got X maxx like u I've upgraded hinge pins bigger bearings up graded the servo the traxxsas one metal gears? Now here comes the important one I've got m2c axles widened and m2c support brace which goes on under the truck save bulk heads!! So in Ur opinion I've made X maxx stronger but not sure about axles and brace, I'd love to hear Ur opinion thanks dudes and nice to c u again keep it up all best Shaun 👍💯

@@BullyBoxerheck I just thickened my diff fluids and I have no issues at ALL with ballooning now on 18/50 gearing. I’m running 30wt in the front 1/2 a ear plug with 20 million in the center and 50wt in the rear and now even cornering hard when I punch it the one front tire that’s lifting in the air doesn’t balloon and doing wheelies it hardly balloons, just a touch really which coulda been fixed with more ear plug in the center diff but I chose not to completely lock it. The stock tires are all I run and they are awesome for stunts and bashing
RPM. Is garbage- to flexible- for me with the RPM hub carrier/ makes the pins pop out from the top & bottom of the carrier- they pop out from the side like the c part where the pin caps cover those pins not the arm pins

Those shock shafts are NOT titanium. They have a microfine coating of titanium nitride. Like cheap gold plated jewelry. Looks good but it wears off and offers no real added value except less friction. It is not titanium, titanium isnt gold colored, it is TiN aka titanium nitride

Awesome video man thanks!
Finally, I have found a RC channel in Australia on RUclips
Very good video Oscar! I was thinking of getting the new V2 Kraton but I think the V2 Maxx is better.
You cant go wrong! Go Maxx v2!
thank you for the valuable info
my car gets here soon

Gom shocks are tough with thicker shock shafts at least for my widemaxx, i havnt used them for xmaxx
What specific gearing combo are you using for X MAXX?
excellent explanation of aluminum vs plastic, so many ignorant id io ts spend gobs on aluminum parts
Will they ever design a tyre that don’t balloon out ?
There is Jetko and Louise rc wheels , which are very popular! But I have not tried them our personally.
look for belted tires , they dont balloon as much
@@crazyhobbies4695 Proline Mashers are belted and are lighter than the badlands.

cheeky boy!
Talbot goes over all this too
Great video Crazy Master 👌, Thanks for sharing your information mate👍🦘🇦🇺
I agree with all this. Good stuff
Thanks for the info 👍
some links are dead, I home you can keep them up to date.
When y'all say mod 1 or mod 1.5 gears is that the width of the gears?
I thought rhe shock shaft was only coated in titanium
Where did you find that body from the intro that is awesome looking
intresting
Self righting hasn't blown any diffs but I've run through toooooo many sets of tires. They just eject tires in self righting. Pls don't do it
10 years ahead and still put shit esc in them
😆
Haluminium aems on your caus 😅
This truck add another 500 to drive it ok then you can drive it for a pack maybe 🤔
So spend $1000+ and replace almost everything 🤔
