    I've driven all generations of vios except this new one (yet). Our '06 1st gen is still alive and kicking with no issues encountered. So if your contention is only "pang taxi" or an experience from "grab ride" then you clearly know nothing. Vios (or Toyota) speaks reliability, longevity, good ride comfort, etc etc, and now stylish (subjective, nonetheless). And yes, others do (though not consistent).
    But, I do have to agree, the price is a bit high without those added techs (cruise control, back-up camera) and refinements (60:40 split, leather seats - though an ache for sweats).
    Maybe on their next iteration perhaps? But hey, for now you're getting all those safety equips that comes in handy when you most need it ...including the airbags. :)

      I own a 1998 Corolla, and sure that vehicle is old and dilapidated now, but the same age korean models are long gone. As for 3. generation Vios (2013-2018) my impression as taxi passenger is actually very positive. I find the amount of rear leg room very impressive, engine noise is well dampened, and performance from the 1,3 engine is clearly adequate for city driving. I think, there is a lot of snobbery involved in the way, some people view the Vios. But being the prefered choise of taxi operators is actually a proof of quality not the opposite.

    • @mblegend3056
      @mblegend3056 5 лет назад +2

      If coined as a "taxi" means durability, reliability and practicality. Only toyota has these tree :)

    Vios has come a long way and I think the 2018/2019 Vios should deserve some respect. For about the same price PHP 868K - PHP 878K, the Vios gets side airbags, side curtain airbags, knee airbag, vehicle stability control and hillstart assist - whereas the Honda City in that same price range, does NOT get those safety features.

    In Thailand this is actually the Yaris Ativ. A sedan version of the hatchback. There is a 2019 vios sold together with the ativ which is a few mm shorter but powerful engine, led headlights option, silver strip running across the tailights and vertical drls near the foglamp. But the ativ is somewhat cheaper than the real vios. And also a reverse camera for the vios.

    If you're thinking of buying a 1.5L Vios, just go for a Corolla Altis. Vios' 1.5L range is at exactly the same price range as the Altis G variants. Even the Altis 1.6G is cheaper than that 1.1M Vios. And for just additional 31k, you can get an Altis 1.6V @ 1.131M. And, take note, they're not just base model Altis. They're mid range up to a V variant. Just sharing...

    If you're thinking of buying a vios opt for the lesser model, the ideal variant of this car would be the 1.3 E. You'll get alot of things for the price your gonna pay for. Hill start assist, electric power steering, vehicle stability control,traction control, abs with EBD and 7 airbags. I mean those features in one car is something you would expect from a car that cost around 2-3 million. And like what he said its available across the entire line up of the vios.

    Toyota cars specifically Vios can be compared to an iPhone actually... when it comes to specs, definitely it's not class leading, but still, many people will buy it because of it's "durability" and "high resale value"... thus making these companies rich AFs in their respective industries...

      @marksina-on4415 5 лет назад +1

      6.6 kilometers/ liter if you use it to travel to mountainous area like Baguio. The steeper the road is, the more you step on a gas pedal to make more acceleration, thus higher fuel consumption, but for city driving, you can save a lot.

      Marrick Mutya he said 6.5kml for going UP hill. I think city traffic would be 7-8, while highway is 16-17

    No back up camera for the top of the line variant? That’s crazy. Seriously, paying 1M without it?

    Still lacks space I'm 6'5" that's why the toyota vios was out of the question when I was looking for a car. FYI compact cars and sedans are the only Options that I have with my budget

      Sigfrid Tan if you're really 6'5, you can't fit inside compact cars. But you may fit inside sedans, kei cars, tall boys, vans, and some MPV.

    Thou the Vios is lacking of these so-called "TOYS", what is inside it is enough to get you from A to B. Besides its a Toyota, and everyone knows how durable and popular it is plus the parts availability is never a pain in the ass....sure Honda is much better but, because most of the time it gives a lot of aches both on your head and purse, so I would still go for the Vios, peace of mind is what you need...

    Why not buy Toyota Innova 2.8 E diesel though

    This particular model makes little sense. Just save your money and get an E or even a J. Its basically still the same vehicle, just with less features and no bodykit.

    Damn over P1m for the high end subcompact with anemic engine, better get a compact car for that price range.

    The 1.5 G Prime variant isn't worth it. The Civic is a better buy, because it's the size of a mid-size sedan and has LED headlights compared to the Vios 1.5 G Prime's halogens; the headlight integrated LED turn signal lights on the Civic used to be reserved on Audis just a 4 years ago.
    The lower variants of the Vios are a much better value, because all of the safety features are standard on all variant, which makes it the best subcompact sedan. But that P1.1M price on the 1.5 G Prime is compact sedan territory.
