Absolutely head over heels for "the missle." Truly my number 1 top choice. The versatility is just really unmatched. They are all great choices though.
I tell you what, if Ember puts that Versatile bunk system into its new tandem axle, north/south bed model…look out. One trailer to rule them all vibes. If that flex space could be a camp kitchen, kayak storage, desk area, single bunk, double bunk, no bunk oh man the possibilities are endless and they open their market up vastly. I’m in.

I'd love to see a top 5 most versatile trailer list. It would probably be interesting to look at the units that have the most ways to use and adjust. Something like toy haulers and the versa bunk rooms which can be modified from bunkhouse to office to classroom to dog kennel type trailers
Could you please upload an updated video? We've been looking for a travel trailer that has a bunkhouse/bedroom with a door and it's been tough. Especially under 7,000lbs
I would vote for a trailer you’ve not reviewed yet (but really really need to) the Imagine 2800BH. It’s a simply awesome trailer. Huge front drop frame pass through storage. True Queen with CPAP cubbies. Great storage and a really well laid out kitchen. Truly useful outside camp kitchen with standard griddle. The 2800 just really makes great use of space and at a reasonable size and weight.
You're the third person today to mention it and I 1000% agree. I've been IN it and though _technically_ it was Palomino's original sabre trailers that first pioneered that floor plan style it was truly the 2800BH and 2600RB that spawned an entire industry's worth of clones It's arguably the best of its kind and I'm waaaay late to that party for sure
Hi Josh, my favorite bunkhouse is Jayco White Hawk 29 BH. It is a great fit for my family. I just bought one and can't wait to go camping in it this summer
Dollar for Dollar- I love our wildwood 263bhxl. Camp kitchen with griddle- queen bedrooms with a door. Versa lounge/Ushape dinette. Outside door to bathroom. Under 7700 pounds. Under $21,000 in 2021.
First off, thanks Josh for making so many awesome videos!! My wife and I watch your videos frequently and we appreciate your efforts and knowledge. We are going to be buying one soon and there have been several we have researched and watched videos on. We just recently decided the Forest River Surveyor Legend 240BHLE is the perfect one for us (thanks for your video on that one). Checks all the boxes and half ton towable with my Ram 1500. Thanks for all you do and keep the videos coming!!
Wow, I was hoping to see the Ember 191MSL on this list but wasn't sure you'd have the intestinal fortitude to include it (JK 😁) since its very much an unconventional BH. I must say that I was surprised to see it #1 but agree with its placement...it truly is a next-generation BH! Now, Ember, PLEASE give us a 221MSL!!! I also liked the Cougar 30BHS for much the same reason...creative implementation of extra storage/sleeping space. Always love when RV companies give us something that breaks the mold. I'd love to see more floorplans that result from outside-the-box thinking. Oh, and I almost forgot, Congratulations on topping 170K subs today!!
The "missile" is by far our absolute fav. But it unfortunately out of our price range. We also like the nano. And one missing from your List in our humble opinion is the Ibex 19mbh. Double over double bunks. Murphy bed with the dinnete and windows on the campside. Weight was good for 1/2 ton towing and the price was less shocking.
After much research, last week I purchased a 2018, 20th Anniversary Edition, Keystone Cougar 29BHS and I could not be happier. Josh, thank you for providing me with such an amazing education over the last year. It is unbelievable how much knowledge and experience you pass on too all of us FOR FREE!!! Partly because of you, I chose to purchase a 2015 Rockwood HW 277 last year and to trade that in for a 2018 Keystone Cougar 29 BHS last week!!! It was a very BIG and needed upgrade for my family. I personally prefer and chose the 2018 20th anniversary edition over a 2019 “windshield generation”. I prefer a darker master with the fiber glass front cap, the Darco truck liner rock guard, auto leveling, the bike rack, and overall paint scheme better than the current generation.
Wow.. TY Nathan. Seriously - I needed this today. I didn't sleep well last night and I'm just on the struggle bus this morning. Some positivity like this to someone you've never actually met really goes a long way to putting some wind in my sails here Congrats on the (soon to be) new-to-you RV! Would it be out of the question to ask you to drop me a quick review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review in return for the helping hand?
@@JoshtheRVNerd Just finished the review Josh, a VERY deserving 5 stars!!! Josh, sorry to hear about your nights sleep last night. Please know that you have helped me (and probably thousands of others) how to decide and purchase an RV, even though it may not of been from Bish’s. Honestly, you and your educational videos have helped motivate my family and I to make this amazing leap into RVing and you have changed my families trajectory forever. My 4 year old son will grow up RVing, partly because of you Josh, THANK YOU for all that you do!!! Let me know if you are ever up in the Buffalo, NY area. Go Bills!!!!!
@Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV I'm-a watch this one again, but I'm going to need you to go ahead and cover as many 2023 bunkhouse travel trailers as possible in the next 4-6 months. That'd be great.... Thaaaanks. On a side note, if you have the ability to bend an ear of anybody at jayco, the corner on the half wall of the 264bh between jackknife couch and bedroom could benefit from a skil saw job. Talk about a big guy tummy tearer upper/ball wrecker!
We currently have the Freedom Express Liberty Edition 320BHDSLE. It's been great over the last couple seasons including this one. My only dislike is the island and not the greatest for seating while we all watch a little TV but no doubt a nice trailer. We're currently looking at a Cougar Half Ton 29RLI for next rig. We got at least two seasons before our kids want nothing to do with camping so we may move up to the Cougar sooner. We walked through an 29RLI and the windows were a selling point for me. Anyways Josh, great videos, both entertaining and informative!
We have a 2022 Keystone Outback 340bh, we purchased last year in November and we absolutely love it. It comes with auto level, on demand heat and a great outdoor kitchen. I have recently learned that different regions have different rig brands at times. I see you show the Cougar brand under Keystone so was not sure if the Outback is marketed to your region as here in North Carolina. Check it out and see how you like it. And as always, great video!!
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thanks Josh. In my excitement, I forgot to list “Freedom Express” when describing the 238BHS. To be fair, I’m biased towards the Freedom Express 238BHS because I own one.
I really don't have a need for bunk beds but I do like the the Cougar. The first RV seemed to have a very low cargo capacity based on its sleeping capacity, won't take much to over load it.
What I need Josh is a review of bunkhouses with the rear cargo door. We have 2 sit on top kayaks and want to nest them sideways and slide them in the rear cargo door for transport to the camping site. Thanks! Mike Kaman
Thank you for a direction to look into these. I tried searching on the Bish’s website but besides the bunkhouse search parameter, there wasn’t a Rear Cargo Door search item to narrow down my choices. Thanks Josh!
Hi Josh, love your vids! What happened to the Rockwood Signature trailers? I haven't seen any on your channel in a long time. Have they slowed down production for some reason?
Their ultra lite line expanded and absorbed some of the sizes that used to be signatures. They’re still being made but so much of their production is now Geo/Mini/Ultra you just don’t see as many signatures as a dealer Still gorgeous rigs
I am genuinely surprised you managed to exclude the Freedom Express 287 from this list but in the last year or two there has been some really good stuff in every segment.
@@JoshtheRVNerd you know your stuff! Yes sir it was! Awesome floor plan. We traded it for a motorhome and recently went back to the travel trailer, two teenage girls wanted their privacy. Sad they quit making that floor plan it was near perfect for a small family.
@@theliljc84 Before that was their 2400BH - same layout with single bunks in the back. As Haylett RV we sold like.. 6-10 of those every year. People loved it. Still missing IMO one and only bunkhouse floor plans the North Trail 24dbs. You need to check it out. Never seen a bunk room bunkhouse model under 31’ until you see the 24dbs. Love the Ember model. Also love the Cougar utility bunkhouse model. Could have put the Wolf Pack 27pack10 (technically half bunkhouse half toy hauler) on the list.
I am aware of it but haven't had a chance to get my hands on one. We had TWO land here at my home store while I was on a one week vacation this year. Both landed, were sold, and left before I even got back and we haven't seen another since sadly
Are the black and grey tank valves separate? This seems inconvenient. What are your thoughts/experience? I love the floor plan and am now looking to see if I can snag one. Thanks!
Hey , how's it going ? We just set up our trashy pool. I'd like to see which one would blend in next to my pool to complete my trailer trash setting 🙋💣🚽💥💥
You started with the trailer I have. Some very nice bunkhouses. I like the ones were the bunks don’t have to stay at bunks. How about a list of your favorite pop up’s? Or hybrid ones?
There are so few hybrids even made anymore that’s a tricky one Popups are almost in the same boat But I always appreciate a good idea and may see what I can do!!
Ok so if you have half ton with payload and tow packages with max tow rating of 13,500 lbs. is still ok to tow over 10k lbs? I know the trucks says they’re capable but is it safe and or practical?
if you're only comparing max tow rating to load, then yes. Legally safe What's safe and comfortable may vary I cannot provide better insights to specific scenarios without more specific information though
@@debbiejamison3883 seriously - keep the suggestions coming. When I visit a new store I sometimes get stuck standing there going "holy crap.. which one of these do I record?" That's when I bust out my little hit list and start getting an idea or two
We looked at most of the under 30ft bunkhouse trailers we could find and settled on the 2022 Northern Spirit 2454bh, had everything we wanted and more, except the lack of the roof ladder. That still bothers me.
This season I predict a LOOOOOT of RV builders are going to include those little mounts for a portable/telescoping ladder I don't think most brands will actually include the ladder, but rather doing the smallest thing possible to _sorta_ overcome the challenge
Having a terrible time getting a straight answer from dealer and Forest River on bunk weight limits. One says 300 and one says 350 lb. Any chance you have a contact to verify? Model is 244dbx. Kinda the only thing holding me back. Any help would be awesome!
Looks like a wildcat one. I'm not specifically familiar with them. Apologies - I don't have an answer I know a lot of forest river bunks are 300lbs for those double beds but that's just generalized info/estimation Better to estimate low than high
That one is tough. TOUGH. For years I've been in a 264BH Jay Flight myself. So many things about that RV work for me and my simple style of camping. But I truly enjoyed that 247BH. I would be very interested in trying one out for a weekend to really compare them. On paper I think the 247BH might be something to which I'd give the nod. It's not as tall inside as the jay flight, but it has a longer bed which is nice.
@@JoshtheRVNerd totally fair, it IS tough. They both seems so great in their own right. Unfortunately my tow vehicle is looking like the Jayco 224BH or Grand Design XLS 21BHE is going to be more my speed, but I really like the 30-footers because of the space and versatility. Thanks for sharing!
I put out a lot of content & sometimes they get lost in the mix. Did you see the link for the full video of it listed in the description of this video?
Both MSRP and discounted sale pricing on available models can be found here: www.bishs.com/rv-search?stocknumber=264bh Note that may vary quite a bit from unit to unit due to shipping distance to different stores AND different equipment packages on some of those
With all of your reviews, I thought I had it narrowed down to the Rockwood Ultra Lite 2706WS and the Keystone Cougar 30BHS. However, after re-watching the videos, I have learned neither one uses Azdel in the sides of the trailers. In my area, you see lots of both manufacturers, but most of them are the 5th wheel variety. How well will these trailers hold up after 10+ years? I plan on just buying one trailer for the rest of my time on Earth so having one NOT prone to de-lamination is a big priority. Hopefully, some current owners that have had their rigs for awhile will chime in. Oh, also a little disappointed that the Rockwood didn't make your list as I think it checks a TON of boxes...lol!!
so for the 2023 series rockwood is transitioning to azdel in their signature models. They haven't actually mentioned azdel for the ultralites which surprises me... it would mean that ONE series was bypassed for azdel use which doesn't really make sense Something I've learned, though: Azdel doesn't play well with pinch rolling in most cases. It actually seems to bond best with vacuum lamination. Since keystone pinch rolls it may be harder for them to adopt the use of azdel It's not a 100% "either this or that" but that's a thing I've learned from some factory managers
The Jayco will do it for me. Don't need all the fancy kitchen and luxury all the other travel trailers come with. Only time we'll be in it is when we're sleeping or using the restroom (easier for the wife and kids) while bonndocking. Don't like all the curfews that come with state parks/paid sites.
Unfortunately no. They do not offer any oven. But it has a big brother you can see here with a standard oven m.ruclips.net/video/c7g4yT0PJRM/видео.html
I was considering it for sure. I like that model a lot personally. It's TOUGH boiling things down to these lists.. So many good options always get left out
Any bunkhouse trailer capable of sleeping 6 or more people “must” have enough seating on a cold rainy day for the people it can sleep and also have a porcelain toilet capable of withstanding the punishment of the crew😬😬😬
To give you an idea if one might be worth looking further into. I’ve left links to the full tours. I’ve already done in the description for you. I’ve also provided a quick tour of every model.

There are so few hybrids even made anymore that’s a tricky one
Popups are almost in the same boat
But I always appreciate a good idea and may see what I can do!!
@@JoshtheRVNerd I understand,
Bullet 290bhs. Best floor plan
Ok so if you have half ton with payload and tow packages with max tow rating of 13,500 lbs. is still ok to tow over 10k lbs? I know the trucks says they’re capable but is it safe and or practical?
if you're only comparing max tow rating to load, then yes. Legally safe
What's safe and comfortable may vary
I cannot provide better insights to specific scenarios without more specific information though
Thanks . pls suggest for 28th feets under gross weight 6500 pounds , with back big window at least one slide . thanks
Would you mind reviewing the 2022 Shadow Cruiser 280QBH, please and thanks!!
I think we might have those at some of our stores. I’ll keep an eye out later this season
I'm still waiting for the Nash 25 DS I'm really interested in your opinion on this one.
It’s on my hit list as I travel about
@@JoshtheRVNerd I won't let you forget, lol
@@debbiejamison3883 seriously - keep the suggestions coming. When I visit a new store I sometimes get stuck standing there going "holy crap.. which one of these do I record?"
That's when I bust out my little hit list and start getting an idea or two
We looked at most of the under 30ft bunkhouse trailers we could find and settled on the 2022 Northern Spirit 2454bh, had everything we wanted and more, except the lack of the roof ladder. That still bothers me.
This season I predict a LOOOOOT of RV builders are going to include those little mounts for a portable/telescoping ladder
I don't think most brands will actually include the ladder, but rather doing the smallest thing possible to _sorta_ overcome the challenge
Apologies - I don't have an answer
I know a lot of forest river bunks are 300lbs for those double beds but that's just generalized info/estimation
Better to estimate low than high
@@JoshtheRVNerd thank you for the reply!
I'm interested to know your thoughts on Grand Design Transcend XPLOR 247BH vs Jayco SLX 8 265BH. Thanks in advance!
Josh, Where does that little jingle come from at the end of the video?
No idea really. It was one of about 7 free-use songs built into my video editor and I have used the ever loving crap out of them lol :)
@@JoshtheRVNerd 😂
How did I miss the original video of that ember 🤷🏼♀️
I put out a lot of content & sometimes they get lost in the mix. Did you see the link for the full video of it listed in the description of this video?
@@JoshtheRVNerd yep, went back and watched the original. Love the versatility!
How much is the first one cost? Or MSRP
Both MSRP and discounted sale pricing on available models can be found here: www.bishs.com/rv-search?stocknumber=264bh
Note that may vary quite a bit from unit to unit due to shipping distance to different stores AND different equipment packages on some of those
With all of your reviews, I thought I had it narrowed down to the Rockwood Ultra Lite 2706WS and the Keystone Cougar 30BHS.
They haven't actually mentioned azdel for the ultralites which surprises me... it would mean that ONE series was bypassed for azdel use which doesn't really make sense
Something I've learned, though: Azdel doesn't play well with pinch rolling in most cases. It actually seems to bond best with vacuum lamination. Since keystone pinch rolls it may be harder for them to adopt the use of azdel
It's not a 100% "either this or that" but that's a thing I've learned from some factory managers
SLX = slightly less eXpensive!
...frankly that might not be wrong!
A video after my own heart! You’re the shizz josh

Ty 😊
Can a guy get the nano 208 with an oven in the kitchen?
Unfortunately no. They do not offer any oven. But it has a big brother you can see here with a standard oven m.ruclips.net/video/c7g4yT0PJRM/видео.html
@@JoshtheRVNerd I like it! But I think if I were to step up from a nano. I’d go 2509s over the 238.
Apex 256BSH didn’t make the list :( lol.
I was considering it for sure. I like that model a lot personally. It's TOUGH boiling things down to these lists.. So many good options always get left out
RPOD 201 / 202
Any bunkhouse trailer capable of sleeping 6 or more people “must” have enough seating on a cold rainy day for the people it can sleep and also have a porcelain toilet capable of withstanding the punishment of the crew😬😬😬
Where is the Rockstaff 19BH? Lol
I think I included stuff like that more specifically into a 5,000lbs and under kind of list!
JayFeather 24BH not even an honorable mention :(
So hard to boil down an entire industry full of good options. That's an awesome pick for sure!!
Funny he walks by a bunch of Cherokee campers but not even horrible mention maybe that means something 🤔
whats the point of this video if you dont tour the damn things
To give you an idea if one might be worth looking further into. I’ve left links to the full tours. I’ve already done in the description for you. I’ve also provided a quick tour of every model.
