- Today's videos an easy moussaka recipe. We recently visited Cyprus and I ate so much moussaka that I was inspired to cook it once I was home, and so I wanted to share my recipe with you :)
INGREDIENTS:
500G lamb mince
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
1 lamb stock
1 tin chopped tomatoes
4 potatoes
1 aubergine
Butter
Flour
Milk

Yes I don’t like obscure items.. then u can only use them once and throw the rest away!! I don’t like waste! Lol xxx
you should do a cookbook with all your lovely recipes (affordable and quick) - great for mum's. i have three children and work part time, i always cook your recipes xx

I have just made this and it was DELICIOUS!! I always avoided cooking with aubergines as I tried a recipe years ago and it was disastrous!😂, thank you for the tip about slicing them quite thinly! Another winner dinner! Thank you kerry, 👏👌

I’m going to give this a try when ever I’ve had moussaka before it’s had a big eggy top which has always put me off but this looks delicious xx

Looks delicious....think I will try this but use turkey mince instead, I know lamb is traditional but we’re not keen on lamb. Thanks for the inspiration Kerry 😀 xx

Just a tip in case you do get lumps in white sauce....warm through the milk first before adding little by little to the pan, I always have lump free sauce this way lol!!

Yes we do and I absolutely love it! I wouldn’t ever get gas again.. it’s so so quick and easy :) I would defo recommend getting one :) xxx

I usually do but for this one we had it for lunch and it was 11am when I cooked it so didn’t dish it up straight away and then when I did.. I forget to film it 😂😂😂
I don't want this comment to be misunderstood, I'm not trying to attack you, just to clarify certain things. This is moussaka inspired, but it's not real moussaka. You skip important steps that you believe are not necessary when they are because you are changing the texture of the food. And it's definitely not Greek cooking, it's Cypriot, there is a big difference there that most British people don't understand because the majority of "Greeks" they know are actually Cypriots. Our food profiles are different, especially when it comes to meat, Cypriots use a lot of lamb, Greeks mainly use pork and beef. I'm sure it will taste great, after all the majority of recipes you've shared that I've cooked did, but being Greek I had to clarify this. I'm more than happy to explain further if you like, and again this is not an attack, I actually follow you and really like your foodspiration every Sunday, I look forward to it when I have my morning coffee xxx
oh no I don't for a second think you are attacking me :) I like getting comments like this where people express their thoughts and feelings :) I have eaten moussaka like this in all the parts of Greece I have been to which is why I thought this was a typical Greek dish!!! This is my way of cooking moussaka to make it a quicker meal to cook (as otherwise it is quite a long process I find!) I 100% know its not the authentic moussaka and I would never say it was.. but this is just me who likes to cook meals which are quick, easy and delicious!! I hope that all makes sense and you see my style of cooking :) xxx
Hi Kerry I love the way that you took that comment as it was meant... of course, you never stated it was authentic moussaka, so all is good. I’ve just finished making it (veggie version) for dinner later and it was so fuss free and easy. Thanks so much for the recipe. @@eileenc477 Akis is absolutely amazing! He is very down to earth and considerate too. His recipe about Greek pita (the one we use for gyros sandwich) is THE BOMB, to the point that I've stopped using our family recipe because his is better :)
Diary of a Greek Mum ... I didn’t even mention that he is an amazing cook 😂 and for you use his recipe instead of an old family recipe, then he must be good! Him and his ‘Greek extra virgin olive oil’ lol x
@@eileenc477 It's not juts Akis, all Greeks have this obsession with Greek extra virgin olive oil! I generally try to shop within a budget but I will ALWAYS splurge on a proper Greek branded olive oil, not the ones called Greek but one that I know of the brand and I had used it when I was growing up in Greece :D
If you add warm milk will not get lumpy
