Got out from working a 12 hour shift at the hospital to a dead fob. I knew about the key so I used that to open the door which set the alarm off for about a minute but then stopped. @@JasonGillett I have one question. Sometimes after using the key to manually open the vehicle and drive, when I go to leave the car and lock it again manually, it only locks the drivers door car. All the other doors in my car all appear to automatically unlock upon me exiting the vehicle and I have no way with a dead key fob to lock them all again. It's so infuriating. I usually try and use the last bit of juice in the battery to lock them all but when the key is 100% dead I can't do this. I've tried sitting in the car locking all doors from the inside using the full lock mechanism button on the driver seat door, then getting out and manually locking the drivers door. But when I check all the other doors are open again (all open automatically after opening drivers door to leave the car). It's so annoying! Is there anyway to fully lock all car doors when the key fob is dead? I own a Nissan Micra Elle car.
Thank you so much, I helped my mom start her Nissan Murano 2016 through the phone with the help of your video. She accidentally threw the key fob in the wash, and the car didn't start. I told her to open it and put its components in rice for a little bit. Then she closed the key fob without the battery, did THIS, and it worked! Life saving, indeed. She had first called the Nissan and they couldn't help her with this information. Hope this helps.
So glad for this video. My wife's battery died in her key fob, she called the dealership to see if there was a way to start the car and they said no. I went and put a new battery in her remote, but we found this and tested it and works like a charm on her 2015 pathfinder. She will now never be stranded like that again.

When I bought my 2011 JUKE, new right from Japan, I asked the dealer right off the bat what if the FOB battery was dead. He showed me the hidden key in the FOB and said this is how you start it. I looked at the steering column and noticed a plastic cover where the ignition switch would go, so I thought, I guess I just pop the cap and I’m in business. The dealership didn’t even know about this deal you can do with your FOB. You saved me a Big future headache. I carried a spare battery for my FOB in the glove box just in case

I just got myself a 2020 nissan versa sv. ive been obsessed with watching these kinds of videos. I originally wanted a toyota but this is what i just ended up leaving with, i dropped the gun too fast and jumped on it without seeing what else cars i had to choose from, lol so debating if i should just pay it off or trade it in a few months for a toyota. i'm grateful though, god is good!

It was going to cost me almost $200 to take an Uber to my home and then to take an Uber back to the car with the other key foam. Then I decided to Google it and oh my God it works. Thank you so much

That's been my only fear about having a push to start vehicle. Just bought my first one a couple of weeks ago, a 2019 Nissan Altima SR. Started freaking out because my key fob wasn't as responsive as it should be, having to try several times to get the doors to unlock. I change the battery and all is well but at least I know there's an emergency alternative! So glad I found your video!

I sat in the car trying to figure out what to do and trying to make it to my dr appointment in 10 minutes. Thanks for the tip and video! 👍But lets be real....Keyless starting cars and trucks is the dumbest thing I've seen in a while.... I have one and hate it! You still need the key fob, you still need a key to get in if the battery dies, you still need a key to lock the tail gate in most cases......so WHY do they think it's better than an old fashion normal ass key!!!?? Drives me crazy! I loved my 2001 Tundra with a simple all metal key that I could get copies made anywhere!!! This is technology that is actually a hindrance!!!
I hate it too but there is absolutely no getting around it nowadays if you want a new vehicle. It is theoretically possible to replace push button start with a traditional keyed ignition system, but would require someone with the ability to reprogram your ECU and possibly some of the other modules. It wouldn't be cheap.
I literally just had this happen. Went to an auto parts store they replaced the battery. Now it doesn't work at all!!! Thank you for helping me start it the first time.
Thank you! My wife just called me in a panic because her Rogue was saying her Key ID didn't match. This worked perfectly so that she can go replace the fob battery.
So glad there’s still a way to start the car with just the fob. I haven’t had my 2019 Nissan Sentra for a year yet, and just had the notification that the battery was low. Low book is slipping.. need to get the battery replaced when I have free time from work.

Aug 2nd 2020 Thanks for saving me much stress and upset. My FOB was acting up and even when I put the spare 2032 in it, it would not respond. So then I was about to order a FOB on ebay but wondered how I was going to "program" it. @@Taylor-fk2tr yes you are correct, the little key that is inside the fob can be used to manually lock the door on the drivers side or even easier just hit the lock button on the inside door panel :)

@@PRS247 maybe on the 2013 but not the 2014. I haven't looked specifically for other makes or models but it would make sense that there's a way to use the key to start the car in case of situations like this

how would u lock the vehicle with dead battery in a key fob ?
With the key that comes out of the key fob
@@Taylor-fk2tr yes you are correct, the little key that is inside the fob can be used to manually lock the door on the drivers side or even easier just hit the lock button on the inside door panel :)
Thank you I paid my car insurance my car wouldn’t unlock so looked up videos and found yours! Wow! I never knew until I watched this! But I did go get my battery right after!

You're able to take off the plastic cover for the button to use the mechanical key Jackie

@@katherineestrada20 physical key...only unlocks the door.
@@PRS247 maybe on the 2013 but not the 2014. I haven't looked specifically for other makes or models but it would make sense that there's a way to use the key to start the car in case of situations like this

Thank God for your video. I knew about the key in the fob but that only gets you in the door. Then what?? Battery's low in fob so it's great to know I won't be stuck until I can get a new one!
