Pull the biggest bullshit and do a crit roll to piss off the DM, cuz they passed.
"The Missile smashes into the cracked stonework of the ancient stone walls. Small fragments break off and scatter around the room, a few specks hitting your faces. The (checks Wizards 1d4+1 damage roll) 3 damage leaving a small hole in the wall but nothing more. You can tell these ancient halls are built of thick stone bricks, and being underground, would either hold another room of this hellish dungeon or solid stone behind it anyway". -> the key is to let the player do this, but simply explain the rational aftermath, rather than attempt to tell them "No". The consequence is that he wasted a level 1 spell slot for the equivalent of hitting the wall with a hammer. In the next fight he'll quickly learn not to waste his spells in such a manner again :p
This is why you do 2 things.
1. Apply the cloyster spell in your dungeon so they can't teleport away or use any spells against a dungeon.
2. make sure it's underground.

-You leave the dungeon, knowing full well that if you don't handle this a bunch of stuff you wont like will happen.

First burnbot leaves after Max hurts her feelings, now she's still gone and goofball tries to steal braindump from Max. I feel like this is leading up to something big.
When that video comes there will be no intro theme instead it will play during a crucial moment and be a slow piano version on repeat since it's short
It’s Max. He’s infamous for doing this but with the last two we may not see it.
Max is a genius, I'm honestly excited to see where this goes. I'm almost positive this was his intention from the start. He wanted to lure us in with a false sense of security with lovable characters we came to enjoy and then pull the rug out from under us by revealing that there is a plot to Brain Dump.
It'd better, I came to hear Max talk about the Grinch, and stayed because of all the cliffhangers, which forced me to watch this religiously. I hope that will prove worth my while.

I love the characters of Alastor and Angel Dust
They remind me of goofball
Theory: The mermaid was Golfball's lover, from when he was alive. Max didn't describe the mermaid, all he said was "perfect." Goofball imagined her looks all from his idea of a "perfect woman" (hence the mermaid not conforming to the usual trends of 'beauty'), and the reason he feels nostalgic from only a thought is because it was more so a memory. He got so defensive and angry because, in that moment, he was able to be with her again.
And then he rolled a 2 with a -8 charisma modifier.
This has been an over-speculation from yours truly. yadda yadda film theory.

He always knew how to make her laugh....he met her when she was crying and heartbroken. Somehow he instantly figured out her sense of humor and for the first time in weeks she smiled. Not only smiled...laughed. She wanted more of this goofy guys jokes. She kept in touch with him.
She soon found that every day the only thing that could make her laugh was his HIM. she loved how he always knew what would get her to giggle...a story, a quip, a cartoon-like exaggeration...he just always knew. He loved her laugh too. He would stay up all night thinking of new material that would make her happy. His best friend's joy meant more to him than anything else. He was devoted to her smiles and laughter. He would compliment her on how amazing she looked when she was full of joy...soon she started loving herself. She started to love her laugh, she loved feeling happy, she loved her smile and finally felt like it was beautiful enough to show. After falling in love with herself for once she reaslized that she had fallen for him as well.
Soon they were lovers, best friends, soulmates even. his humor won her over but she soon found that he was so much more. he was thoughtful, loved to stand up for his feelings and morals, was quick to make stories and ideas, and no matter what, even when she was sobbing he could make her laugh. She even pushed him to live his dream of being a standup comedian so that he could share that joy with everyone. he would call her his "divine comedy" as divine and rare as seeing a mermaid... And she would call him her little goofball.
In his death, he lives on with her memories. promising to be funny and playful and always be the living cartoon she saw him as...she would've wanted him to make people laugh...and the name he chose for himself...the name she gave him..goofball

I think it's really just a way for Max to, as per the title, dump his brain onto paper and gets his own thoughts organized, then he turns those thoughts into creative works like this.

I believe it was in his video about The Powerpuff Girls (which has been taken off of his channel for some reason), there was a back-and-forth between him and Goofball where Goofball said "I thought this show was supposed to be you talking about movies" and Max said "this show is whatever I want it to be."

I decided to close my eyes and picture the scene with Max's narration and good god that whole scene was set up perfectly. Especially when the music flared up again, I quickly opened my eyes to make sure I wasn't missing anything. (I was afraid I had closed my eyes for too long and was missing some animation.) When I did, it was the exact moment the mermaid turned around and looked at me. I know it was a cartoon mermaid behind a screen, but it felt so god damn real. It's a feeling I can't even begin to describe, a feeling of immersion and wonder I've rarely seen anyone capture so perfectly.

Can't believe you're actually making this into a quality series, just exploring these two characters.
I really loved the part where Max described his fantasy world in beautiful detail.
I know it's all supposed to be comedy, but I actually zoned out completely.
When the picture came back that hit me hard. It really was a beautiful moment seeing the great art and music.

@@skiboutins Same. The one about the Powerpuff Girls and The Apu That I Know are both classics that I've watched a few times and recommended to people on multiple occasions. I do like and enjoy these more story driven videos, but I don't find that same rewatch/share potential in them.
Omega Totally. I'm glad there are reuploads on other channels so we can still watch it, but it sucks that all the work and time that went into it aren't benefiting the actual creator of the video and instead just falling as random footnotes on other channels who took the video before it was removed. Still a damn good braindump though, more along those lines actually staying on this channel would be amazing

Plot twist:
The dungeons and dragons story intertwines with Max’s grief over burnbot’s disappearance. In this scenario, Goofball is Max, and The Marmaid is Burnbot. Goofballs lack of “charisma” represents Max’s own lack of charisma. And Goofballs anger towards Max directly mirrors Max’s anger towards Goofball that made Burnbot leave in the first place.
This is now head canon.

You flip on the lights, only to find a myriad of small animals butchered, and plastered to the walls. Their carcasses were uniformly gutted and painstakingly nailed, their skeletons meticulously cleaned and ghastly white. Fresh blood drips down to the floors, staining the wood a sinister black.
You explore the cabin further, mouth agape in horror. These poor creatures must have died terrible deaths, what heartless monster could have done this?

I mean for the in depth role playing speech goofball gave about what she reminded him of I would have at least given him advantage on the charisma check.
Imagining he rolled anything like a 15 on the second just cause statistically it's more likely to get higher, even with a minus 8 due to his heavy role play I would say how all the thoughts role through his head almost leaving him mute, trying from the bottom of his heart to force out the overwhelming feelings she causes him, all he can let out are a few mumbles and a compliment of her hair with awkward stumbling and lovestruck eyes.
You would see the anger build on her face. Her eyes glaring through you and cutting you like a million daggers all at once. Her upper lip would begin to twitch with anger as she looks at you and almost calmly but firmly whispers "its impolite to watch as a girl bathed". She would probably go to hide behind the rock and put on her top bathing suit thing with shells asking what he wanted and why he was there, causing a quest to insue, him doing as she says in hopes to whoo her and be granted the true fortune to get a single kiss from her.
Then if we want to go classic dnd it would later be exposed how she was actually using the adventurer to conduct her evil plan, but finishing the campaign with a moral dilemma. As her plan is fulfilled she sees his true use and capability as a hero under her command, her secretly growing more fond of him as he completes more tasks. She offers him the chance to rule beside her as not only the king but her lover in her goal to flood the world and turn it into a mermaids wonderland, but in the process would have to kill every other npc that goofball would grow found of as he worked under her. All of his friends and people he almost considers family would have to be erased off the face of this planet but all given for the one he loves in ending in one single choice.
Join her side but watch everyone die, or kill the one he loved

A good DM knows when to fudge numbers in order to make the players experiences more enjoyable. Even though Goofball failed the roll, he could have just said he succeeded to keep the roleplay going.

Max this is your greatest work yet. I really thought that this was just another review skit series but there's been some really surprising twists into the story like your self-insert actually showing emotional frustration, burnbot leaving the show, and goofball being the conflict element etc that I surprisingly find myself invested in the lore of the show. I can't wait for the next episode and what lies next between the dynamic duo.
The song for the mermaid part is from the legend of Zelda Majoras mask. Its called Astral Observatory.

Well of course Goofball's character has a Charisma modifier of -8. He's playing as Link! The guy's got perfect Constitution, Strength, and Dexterity stats, but he's got all the charisma of a moldy barrel. He might have tried to say so many beautiful things about the mermaid, but it all probably came out as: "Hyah! Hiyah! Hah!! Yaahh!!"
And yet he pulls at *least* one girl's attention in every game. His CHA is so low it rolls back around to nat 20.
Doesn't stop about every female in BoTW from wanting to bang him though.

If it was a any damage dealing cantrip from 5the he could spam it endlessly and as long as it barely surpassed the hardness of the wall, he would eventually break it.
Other than that we don't know what's on his character sheet. Maybe he gave him a ridiculously high level character, or has some ridiculous homebrew feat or racial template that allows his magic missiles to do way more damage and... makes his charisma modifier become -8...

While it's not the most conterversieal and ground-breaking cartoon show I've ever seen, it is one that is currently on the air now that is being the most "edgiest" cartoon that we've had in awhile. I'm pretty sure that brain dump stands a chance on being on air if being too "controversial" is the problem.

I think the problem more stems from how Max makes content.
The content is genius, but he uploads infrequently and with varying run times.
They could last an hour, or 9 minutes, and that doesn’t work in the tv format. I think if he was forced into consistency, it would make the work suffer as result.
