That time na yan na naging solo si Kabayan sa TV Patrol, kasagsagan nun ng kasikatan ni Marimar sa RPN sa primetime from 1hr down to 30mins. ang newscast at pinantapat nila nun ang Mara Clara from afternoon slot nilipat nila eto sa primetime. And I remember, yung plug noon ng TVP nung naging solo anchor si Kabayan, inspired by several news anchors from the US with the likes of Peter Jennings from ABC, Dan Rather from CBS, and Tom Brokaw of NBC.

By that time, TV Patrol's focus would shift to local and national stories, along with dedicated segments for weather and showbiz, due to its timeslot.

Interesting to note that Ernie was one of the mainstays from the pre-solo TVP era that were retained for this solo iteration of the said newscast.
Of course, doing what he has been known for.
But I wonder how would it feel like if TVP retained their solo format to this day?

No offense hopefully, but I still admire this Kabayan that is serious yet smart not unlike now that he has to get along with the GV yet utterly noisy environment of the current TVP setup.
But then, it’s just another day of doing business.
@@jcdph Sorry but would you mind elaborating what is GV? Yeah if this format would have been retained, Kabayan Noli would not run for politics and not leave ABS-CBN making this format an established style of the newscast. Though I think it would have the same time duration as today from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

I would also have to ponder that given Kabayan’s current physical condition besides the prevailing atmosphere at TVP, it has to be a must for him to be joined by other co-anchors apart from those that handle segments.

@@kraomi1987 i just realized that its a TFC recording (The Filipino international channel). Probably some Filipino or OFW may have recorded this broadcast in Poland or Europe. Either way, its cool that you found this tape hehe
It could be captured from one of ABS-CBN’s sattelites. Like the videos on the YT channel eifelDX, which is also taken from Poland.
@@jaddancelyou know, I doubt it's from TV-DX, because first of all, the cassette is signed as ABS-CBN TFC 12.02.97, so I think she might have come from a TFC employee. The cassette is recorded in NTSC so it is highly likely that she came from the Philippines. Just how it made its way to Europe, much less Poland, I have no clue
