- Anton Rubinstein's beautiful Melody in F (op. 3 no. 1), arranged for piano four-hands (arranger unknown) and performed by The Meeks Duo. Rubinstein wrote many substantial piano works, but it is this piece that has remained most popular today.
The original piece was for solo piano and featured a melody played between alternating right and left hand thumbs, surrounded by bass and treble chords. This four-hand version puts the melody entirely in the primo part's left hand, with all chords in the primo's right hand and secondo part.
The structure is a simple AABABA-coda. We experimented with different rubato and shaping in the repeats.
Enjoy!
Scott Meek, primo
Clare Yuan, secondo
