Thank you Judy. I asked about glazing a couple of weeks ago, so I appreciate this so much! Also, great to hear that you add black and Payne’s grey to nickel azo gold. So many people talk about using it to glaze but I found it a little too strong on its own. I’ll have to try it w the black and grey.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Such a clear explanation of the effect. As a novice painter, I am certain that glazing will be a useful tool.

Judy. This is so helpful for breaking up and diffusing some of the very stark shapes and colours I get. Thank you.

I love your work. I primarily work in cold wax medium and not that familiar with acrylics. Can your concepts be applies to this art medium as well?

So pleased you are enjoying Judy's work. The design concepts will apply to all mediums but Im not sure the glazing will. Hope this helps, Rae (coach)

How do you know what color of glaze to use?

I experiment - it's best to use translucent colours. Look for the opacity rating of the colour - it's usually stated somewhere on the tube or container.

@@judywoodsart I do glaze my work with transparent colors. But because it changes the colors you’re going over; I struggle with that. Do you always use the same glazing colors? I’ve also put a gloss medium on before I glaze, so the colors don’t change. But then I lose the texture. What is your favourite glazing colors? I absolutely love your work. I’ve taken CVP with Nick Wilton twice. But I find your videos refreshing. Nick is great, but I connect to how you explain things. Like how you invite guests to dinner. They need to have something in common, but not everything.

@@gwentellier7959 my goto colours are Paynes Grey with a little of Nickle Azo Gold, but I'm experimenting more with other colours now too. A glaze will darken the colours a little but then you have to add a little thick paint over the top so that you have that contrast. Also, I don't wash the whole painting in a glaze because I like the EDGE of a glaze where the paint gathers a little more. Thanks for the feedback on my videos - lovely to know.

HI Judy thanks! Is the glazing a mixture of acrylic and water or something else? Thanks!
