My friends neighbor had a massive plie of fire wood in his back yard that stayed there for years.... always bone dry and would even have steam coming off it after a rain storm lolz

I was a search and Rescue coordinator in King Co. Washington, many years ago.
I helped search for a lost child and spent 5 days looking for him. After 5 days of expanding out we had no evidence of him being outside the area, so we returned to his residence (PLS) and started over. An agency supplied a tracking dog that kept going around the wood pile in the backyard. Within the hour we found him inside the wood pile. No one suspected that he had made himself a hiding place inside here.

30 years ago, we had this old guy that worked for us on the farm, he often spoke of wintering inside someone's woodpile, not an uncommon thing for rural homeless folks back in the day.

@@Daveed56 thank so much. Cool. In the year 1994 I was there. We trampt in a Ford mercury in two months from the Atlantic to the Pacific. It was in the month May when we slept in the state of Vermont and in the night the temperatures goes under 0!!! It was spring and still so cold. 🥶
I don’t know where you live, but where I live when it came time to use the hiding place, I’d be sharing it with spiders, wasps, scorpions, mice, rats, ground squirrels, and a snake or two.

It's a pretty good idea, but I don't think that I would have shared it with the whole world on RUclips no matter how many views it gave me or how many likes that I got. Which, by the way...I gave you both.
I have a couple of ideas for a few places to hide myself. TV and the movies aren't all mindless dribble. I can tell you of at least 5 that I've observed over the years, and each one of them is pretty ingenious.
Oh well, just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject. Again, pretty good idea.
Thank you for your comment and for your like. I'm both very happy about that. I find your comment very valuable. I didn't even think that far ahead. That could be true, yes! I'm really excited to see if it could come to that. But I think no, because my channel is too small and nobody knows the place. (By the way, if anyone knew the location, thank you for keeping quiet about White Gorilla) But I think to myself that no one knows the location and it can't be on TV like that. And if it does come, what then? It's not that this best hiding place is vital for me or that I'm a criminal. It's just fun thoughts that were in my head and I think whenever possible - if it doesn't hurt anyone - you should put your thoughts into action , when they make you happy and nothing breaks. It's just that, I store wood and layered it a little differently than the norm! In addition, my pile of wood is very good for wildlife because it increases biodiversity. Thanks again for your suggestion because it's really interesting.

If you have the resources/time, dig a tunnel to it, connect it to another hidden entrance.
Thanks for your idea. I had this idea too and thought a second hidden entrance behind a bush would be very nice. But this is impossible, because the ground is very hard and there are a lot of large stones in it! I would also have had to support the tunnel very well, so that there was no danger of it collapsing. The effort would have been too great with or without stones in the ground. Greeting 🦍

All the green wood stacked end to end with no air gaps will mold, not a good place to hide. The concept is good.
Thanks for your comment. I don't think so, because the wood 🪵 is perfect protected of rain 🌧️ and lay down dry. But surely it is not the best way to dry the green wood and the air gaps are missing. We will see .. have a good day 🦍
Build this in Australia and I guarantee you it would be full of snakes, spider and who knows what else. Then a bushfire would come through. Interesting idea though. 🇦🇺👍🍺

This is a good idea. Best to have a few different ones available depending on how much time you have and where you are on your property. Also dogs will find you immediately. Maybe have some spray setting inside ready?

Yes, unfortunately I don't have a chance in front of the dogs, but I could hang a sausage flavor on a rocket and fire it in danger, so that the sausage flavor steers the dogs in a different direction from me. Or do you know an actual spray that I can spray around my hiding place? all the best 🦍
@@White_Gorilla there are many different oils and fragrances that can be applied in the areas before hand and during hiding. I’ve heard of people catching wild animals and while kept safely and fed, putting your clothes and linens with your scent in with them. If something happens, just release the animal and as it takes off into the woods it will also take with it the trail for the dogs to follow. Also the more sprays and different scent there is in the area, the better chance to confuse a dogs nose.
@@White_Gorilla 🌶️ 40,000 Heat Units Cayenne Pepper Powder sprinkled around the area, would be a distraction for anything that wants to sniff out your place. It can also be inexpensively purchased by the pound.

Awesome idea but replace the valuable firewood with something less valuable. Maybe a pile of gravel or something, with a half finished trench or something, making it look like you were working on a half finished project, idk, something along those lines.
Thanks for your comment. Cool idea, my next hiding place is a gravel pit. The firewood is still fresh and needs to dry. I can easily sell it or use it myself in the next few years. It is now stored on my land and serves as my shelter. have a good day. your 🦍

It's really like that! You are familiar with the habitats of snakes, I think so! Once I wanted to go to the best hiding place and put the door fasteners under the tarpaulin and I thought to myself, hmm, I didn't put that green garden hose here. It wasn't a garden hose, it was a grass snake!! I love nature and like to provide a place for different species of animals. I'm not really afraid of being bitten either. In an SHFT situation an “abandoned” woodpile is an open invitation to pillage.
Thanks for your comment. I think it would be too strenous to take the wood. The wood ist to heavy and also in a hollow. You would need an off-road vehicle and gasoline will also be rare in a SHFT. All the best 🦍

@@jonb3311 Ah, now I completely understand. 😃Thank you for your answer. Yes, if someone examines the pile of wood very carefully, they will see the marks clearly. But because there is no path that leads directly past it, the chance is rather small. From one side to the middle it is now completely dense with nettles and blackberries. However, there isn't enough growth where I go in and out..There is also less or no green plants on the front, so that it is not so noticeable that the green is missing at the entrance. Thanks for your close look. I would ideally like to plant iles (holly) - always in green plants - around the entrance, but these are very slow growing! Have a good day 🦍

A few years ago they even stole an entire School, security fence and all, during School holidays in the Eastern Cape.

Hi. The Wood is until now green! 😁. But so what! The thief can easily remove 2 blocks of wood against the slope without noticing my hiding place. I was supposed to have woken up late after 1 woodster and then imitated the sounds of a rattlesnake! 🐍. Have a good day 🦍
